“Harry! I'm home!” Hermione called, closing the front door behind her. She had just gotten home after a long day at work
at the ministry and she really wanted to relax with Harry and their one-month-old daughter, Jessica.

Not receiving an answer, Hermione made her way upstairs to see if Harry was in the nursery playing with Jessica, as he
liked to do. She smiled at the thought. Since the day she had been born, Harry had made it a point to spend as much time
as he could with their daughter, playing, reading to her, or just simply watching her sleep and talking to her.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Hermione made her way down the hall to the nursery and peeked in. It was empty. `Mmm I
wonder where he is,' she thought as she made her way to the bedroom she shared with Harry.

Pushing the door open, Hermione stopped short in the doorway, stifling the sob in her throat. The sight that greeted her
was possibly the most adorable thing she had ever seen. Harry was on the bed sound to sleep, snoring softly and on his
stomach, with her little hands in fists sound to sleep was Jessica.

Stepping into the room, Hermione felt tears welling in her eyes as she made her way over to the bed.

As she got closer, she studied Harry's face as he slept and noticed not for the first time that the care worn lines in
his face seemed to disappear as he slept. `It's like he has no cares or worries when he's asleep. I wish it was the same
when he was awake.' Hermione thought with a twinge of sadness.

She knew that even in sleep sometimes, his worries followed him, though not as frequently as they had back when they
were in school or after the final battle. Now the nightmares came very infrequently and were not, as they used to be,
followed by the painful burning of his scar.

Watching him sleep now, Hermione was glad that all those worries had been swept away, so now they could enjoy their
lives in safety and not have to constantly look over their shoulder for danger.

Sighing Hermione, sat on the end of the bed, and continued to study Harry as he continued to sleep peacefully. It was
then however that Jessica decided to fuss and cry, waking Harry from his nap.

“Hey angel, what's the matter?” Harry asked his daughter. Jessica continued to cry and fuss, kicking her little legs and
gripping her daddy's shirt in her small hands.

“Shh, it's okay angel, Daddy's here,” Harry whispered, taking is daughter in his arms and sitting up.

Hermione watched them silently, waiting for Harry to notice that she was there, however he just continued to focus all
his attention on his daughter who was currently trying to squirm her way out of her father's grasp.

“Where do you think you're going? Huh? Huh? You think you can get away from your daddy? I'll have you know that I'm the
youngest Seeker in a century to be on the Gryffindor House Quidditch team and I can catch you faster than you can get
away,” Harry told the little girl.

“Letting your ego get a little big there are we?” Hermione asked, making her presence known.

Harry visibly jumped at the sound of her voice and nearly dropped the still struggling Jessica.

“MIONE! Oh Merlin, don't do that! You scared the snitch out of me!” Harry exclaimed.

Hermione bit back her giggles and said, “Harry, if you had been paying attention you would have known I was here.”

Harry just gave her a mock glare before turning back to his tiny daughter. “Yes, angel, your mummy is trying to give
daddy a heart attack,” Harry joked lightly.

Hermione smacked him lightly on the arm before taking Jessica from him, and right away, she knew why she was fussing.
“Oh boy, you need a nappie change!”

“I knew that,” Harry said in his defense.

Hermione simply gave him a look and said, “Could you get me another outfit for her while I change her?”

“Yes, dear,” Harry said getting up and walking out of the room to go to the nursery to retrieve an outfit for Jessica.
By the time he came back, Jessica had been freshly changed into a clean nappie and was waiting for her clean outfit.

Currently she was finding great interest in her toes and Harry couldn't help but smile. “She is so precious,” he
whispered handing Hermione the outfit he picked out. “Yes she is, aren't you?” Hermione said.

After Jessica was in her clean outfit, Hermione went and sat on the bed, placing Jessica in front of her on her back.
Harry came and sat next to her, watching as Jessica once again found amusement in her toes.

Hermione knew that she could not ask for anything more than what they had now. Life wasn't always perfect but to her it
was enough. And moments like this drove that point home like no other. And for that, she was happy.
