Beginning of it All The `Twist of Fate' Prequel Chapter 1 The second attack October 15, 1979 The autumn leaves were blazing with color, reds and oranges, mixed with the little green that was left. Deep browns and burgundies blended in nicely. It was truly a beautiful sight to see it raining leaves on a breezy day. But breezy days and autumn leaves were the last thing on their minds as they ran. The group of four ran for their lives as they were being hunted down by the Dark Lord himself. It wasn't the first time either. But maybe I am getting ahead of myself, maybe I should explain who these people are. They are Frank and Alice Longbottom and Lily and James Potter. They had been on a mission, meeting their secret spy on the other side. They hoped that even though the meeting place had been found out, the identity of their spy still remained anonymous to the Dark Lord. They ran as curses were being thrown at them. “This is insane!” Frank said painting, “Tell me why we just can't Apperate?” “Because Voldemort can somehow track our Apperations,” Lily explained as they were running, “We can't risk him finding the headquarters.” “That's it!” James exclaimed as he slowed down before turning to face his enemy. The others stopped as well. “James, what are you doing?” his wife pleaded. “We can't run anymore,” James said, “The least we can do is face him, and not be taken down with our backs turned.” The four held out their wands, ready to defend themselves. “Ready to give yourselves up, I see,” Voldemort sneered as he caught up with his prey. “We will never give our selves up,” James said defiantly, “We're merely standing up to you.” “How bold,” said Voldemort, “yet stupid.” “At least we have some integrity,” Alice said. “Who says I don't have integrity?” Suddenly there were a dozen or so cracks as members from the Order came to their aid. It was then that the curses started flying. Voldemort proved to be very powerful, taking on as many people as he did. But it wasn't long before his Death Eaters arrived donned in black robes and white masks. “Retreat!” Voldemort told his Death Eaters, “It won't happen like this. You might be off the hook this time, but you won't be so lucky the next!” And with that he and his Death Eaters disapperated. “That was a close one,” someone said. “That was twice as many times as I would have liked to face him,” Lily admitted. “I'll be glad when this whole thing is over,” James said, “We can live our lives without fear for once.” And then they went home. ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Lily and James were twenty-five and loved their two years of marriage, when they could. Some had questioned why the couple had waited so long to get married, considering they had been together since they were seventeen. But they had waited, it just felt right. They lived in a place called Godric's Hollow, it was quiet and had both Wizard and Muggle kind alike living there in peace. It was a secret James had kept from public knowledge, that he could trace his roots back to Godric Gryffindor. Only a few people knew, like Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, his fellow Marauders. And know Lily knew as well. If Lily had been told where she would be this present day ten years ago, she would have laughed at the idea. How could she actually have fallen for that big headed Potter? There was one thing that conflicted Lily and James from living a normal life; Voldemort. Both Lily and James along with many of their friends, like the Marauders and the Longbottoms, were apart of a resistance group against Voldemort, called The Order of the Phoenix, founded by Albus Dumbledore. They felt really passionate about brining peace to both the Wizarding World and the Muggle world. They even decided to wait a while before starting a family. Lily had her concerns about bringing a baby into the world, now of all times. So they devoted their time into stopping Voldemort so they could start a family. ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ October 16, 1979 The day after their confrontation with Voldemort, The Order of the Phoenix held a meeting to tell of what happened. “We all apperated to a safe point,” Frank Longbottom explained, “And went our separate ways since it was just myself that was meeting Severus Snape. Alice, James and Lily were there for back up just in case. Eventually we all managed to be at the meeting spot. I don't know if Voldemort knows Snape is out spy but he did find out we were meeting at that time and place, we walked right into a trap. You would think after facing You-Know-Who a first time we would have learned our lesson and be more careful.” “We were more careful,” James said, “I think we may have been trusting our `spy' a little too much. A far as I'm concerned there is a possibility that good ole Snevillus might be two timing us. It could have been him who tipped Voldemort off.” A lot a flinches occurred when James said that name, it was Taboo. “I know you don't care for Severus that much James,” Dumbledore said, “But it is in my opinion that his are with us. It was in fact Severus who tipped us off that you were in danger.” And they left it at that, a silent agreement to disagree. ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ After some more talk of Order business the meeting was adjourned. They Marauders plush Lily and the Longbottoms who were really close friends to Lily, decided to go out for dinner together, to catch up so to speak. Remus had been trying to get a job. It proved to be a very difficult task. They didn't really go into the discussion of why he couldn't get a job. The Longbottoms didn't exactly know that Remus was a werewolf. “I wonder why Arthur Weasley wasn't at the meeting today,” Sirius commented, “He's usually there even if Molly isn't.” “Molly was feeling a bit under the weather,” Alice explained, “Arthur stayed home to help out with Percy and the hell on four legs.” “Ah, the Weasley twins,” Said Lily, “If only my sister and I were that close. I guess it didn't help that I turned out to be a witch. Well she did too, but not in that sense of course. Take away the `W' and add a `B', I always say.” “You and Petunia are twins yourself aren't you?” Remus asked. Lily nodded, “Although you can't tell, we look nothing alike and have absolutely nothing in common other then the fact that we are both married.” “I guess Molly and Arthur have a small load off their shoulders now that both Bill and Charlie are at Hogwarts.” Frank said. “When is Molly due anyway?” James asked. “About March, they are hoping for a girl.” Alice said. “I would too if I had five sons already.” ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ -->
