The story of their becoming. D/G 1. untitled ----------- !It did not happen as the legends say. He did not suddenly wake up one morning and decide he was in love with her. She did not suddenly wake up one morning and decided she didn’t hate him. It was not easy, quick, or painless But it wasn’t a grueling tedious process either He did not rescue her from Voldermort’s fury in the final days. Nor did she need his rescuing. He did not pursue her in some twisted vendetta against Potter or the Weasleys. And she did not give in to him in order to spite Harry or to rebel against her family. It was not forced or hurried in some drunken stupor or violent rage. It began with long soft glances across the great hall. The first time he talked to her was not in some dark corridor of the dungeon or in an abandoned classroom. But at the leaky cauldron over a butter beer just like any teenager would do. But they were not ordinary teenagers. She was Ginny and he was Draco She was a Gryffindor, he, a Slytherin. A Weasley and a Malfoy. It did, however, go as the legends say when their families found out. Lucius, even half- crazy in Akabakan, cut all ties with his son. And Ginny’s parents were worried and perplexed over her choice. But Draco won them all over with his smooth voice, gentle hands, and pure love for their daughter. There was one brother, however, who would not yield. Contrary to legend, Draco did not propose to her before going off to fight some epic battle against the last of Voldermort’s followers. He proposed, after asking permission from her father, on a lazy summer afternoon at the Burrows. Harry did not come to her the night before her wedding to proclaim his undying love. Nor did Ron come to grant her forgiveness for her "retched betrayal." His absence was deeply felt by all at the ceremony. But Ginny refused to give up on him. It was their first child that finally brought Ron around. It was a beautiful baby girl, a child that almost took the life from of her mother when she was delivered. Draco was standing in the hospital nursery staring at his child and praying that he would not have to raise her alone when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "She’ll be okay, right?" It was Ron, his face red as his hair from worry. Draco could only shrug. "This never happens in the legends."
