Prologue The HMS Wizard Prologue Disclaimer: Nothing here belongs to me, the basic storyline or the characters. So please! Don't sue! A/N: Well, here we have the first chapter of the HMS Wizard, which will be roughly based on the movie `Titanic'. If you haven't seen the movie Titanic, with the FABULOUS Leo Dicaprio, you should, because it's a very good movie. Very sad, though, I cry almost every time I watch it. Read on, and enjoy! A magic craft slowly submerged into the ocean and went down slowly to the depths. A muffled voice came out, “There, do you see it?” “The Wizard.” Bob Lovett slowly walked towards the front of the craft and smiled, talking into his magical walkie-talkie that would go anywhere you wanted it to. “You guys take the first class gangway door. I'm working the D deck…headed down the staircase to the B deck.” He took his head away from the walkie-talkie and spoke to the man controlling the watercraft. “There, get in there.” An eel slithered past as they entered into another room in the years old ship, sunk to the bottom of the ocean. He smiled slowly and laughed, “That's the bedroom, that's it. That's Malfoy's bed, that's where the son of a bitch slept!” He laughed again and focused his sight onto the room. “There, turn over that door.” The man next to him concentrated and told the craft what to do. As the rotten door turned over, there it was. Bob smiled wider. “Grab that. Let's take it up.” He let out a loud whoop as the safe was picked up and they ascended towards the top of the water. The searchers on the ship all gathered around as Bob and his crew took the safe onto the deck. As a work man came up with a pliers Bob smirked and nodded, everyone crowding around as the safe door was slowly pried open. He kneeled down and looked around smiling before reaching his hand into the safe. And found…mud…He took out papers, a drawing pad, reached his hand deep into the safe and there was…nothing. He took his hand out and swore. A voice came from behind him. “No diamonds.” Cedar Rapids, Wisconsin A woman walked across her dining room with a small dog yipping at her heels. “Hey, it's okay, I'll feed you in a minute.” An old woman with white hair and a frail body was sitting at the kitchen table, reading a book and carefully turning the pages with her frail fingers. The TV in the kitchen was going quietly, a woman's voice came on saying, “The most famous wizarding shipwreck of all time, the Wizard. There's someone with us live from the sub researching The Wizard. Well, Bob?” “We all know the typical stories of The Wizard. What I'm here to tell you about are the hidden stories. Wizard technology…” He went on as the old lady looked up from her book. The girl got up from feeding the dog and noticed the lady's face. “What is it?” “Turn that up, dear.” The young woman looked at her grandmother with a confused expression and walked to the TV, pressing the button of the wizarding television to turn it up. The man continued… “Take a look at this drawing we found today, a piece of paper that's been underwater for 84 years.” A drawing of a naked woman was shown on the television as the old lady's eyes widened. And she said slowly in a quiet voice, “Well, I'll be god-damned.” Back on the Research Ship “Bob, you got a satellite call!” A helper called from the inside of the ship as Bob looked over papers at his desk. “I'm a little busy!” He called back as the helper walked outside, saying, “Trust me, you wanna take this one, Bob.” Lovett looked up and sighed, reaching his hand out and standing up. “This better be good.” He took the phone and the helper smiled. “Now, you gotta speak up, she's kinda old!” He said as Bob sighed again, glaring at the helper. He put the phone up to his ear and spoke loudly, “This is Bob Lovett, how can I help you Mrs…?” The old lady's voice came out from the other side of the satellite phone saying, “Weasley. Hermione Weasley. Yes, I was just wondering if you had found the heart of the ocean yet?” Bob looked up from the phone smiling slowly as the helper smiled at him. Bob shook his head unbelievingly and said, “Alright, you have my attention. Do you know who the woman in the picture is?” The lady laughed quietly. “Oh yes. You see, the woman in the picture is me.” A helicopter flew across the Atlantic Ocean with the old lady and her granddaughter in it. Back on the sub… “She's a liar, a nutcase seeking money or publicity! Hermione Granger died on the Wizard when she was 17, right?” A worker shouted to his boss over the helicopter whirring as it started to land. “That's right!” Bob shouted back. “So, if she would have lived, she'd be over a hundred by now!” “101 next month!” “Okay, so she's a very old liar! Listen, I've done the background on this witch back to the 20's, when she was working as an actress, an actress! There's your first clue! Her name was Hermione Potter back then! She marries this Weasley guy, moves to Cedar Rapids, and has a couple of kids! Now Weasley's dead, and from what I hear, Cedar Rapids is dead!” “And everyone who knows about the diamond is supposed to be dead or on this boat! But she knows!” The worker and his boss had been walking towards the back of the boat as they argued, and now the helicopter was landing. Other workers brought out a couple suitcases as the old lady was lowered down with her dog in her lap. Bob walked forward and held out his hand, “Mrs. Weasley! I'm Bob Lovett, welcome to our wizarding research sub!” Hermione smiled slightly as she was lowered to the deck, and her granddaughter, a tall woman with bright red hair came out behind her. “Hi Ms. Weasley! Bob Lovett, welcome!” She smiled at him and said a loud `hi!' over the helicopter whirring. She then pushed her grandmother's wheelchair after the workers and down to their rooms. Bob followed them and peeked into their room, where Hermione was setting up dozens of pictures. “Are your staterooms alright?” He asked. She set down the last picture with a smile and said, “Oh, yes. Very nice. Have you met my granddaughter Luna? She takes care of me.” The redheaded girl smiled at her grandma and said, “We met just a few minutes ago. Remember, Nana, on deck?” The old lady passed a hand to her brow. “There, that's nice. Have to have my pictures when I travel.” Bob smiled at her, “Is there anything you need, something I could get you?” Hermione pursed her lips and smiled at him. “Yes. I'd like to see my drawing.” A few minutes later they were in a different room, and Hermione was looking at a drawing she remembered from many years ago. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, thinking back on a time long ago, of a handsome face with bright green eyes. She opened her eyes and sighed as Bob started talking. “Louie the 16th wore a fabulous stone which was called the blue diamond of the crown, that disappeared in 1792, about the same time Louis lost everything. The theory goes that the stone was cut too, into a heartlike shape that came to be known as `the heart of the ocean'. Right now, it'd be worth more than the hope diamond.” Hermione shook her head; “It was a dreadful heavy thing. I only wore it this once.” Luna looked at the picture intently. “You really think this is you, Nana?” Hermione looked at her granddaughter and laughed softly. “It is me, dear. Wasn't I a dish?” Bob laughed and said, “I tracked it down under old insurance records. An old claim that was settled under terms of absolute secrecy. Can you tell me whose claim it was?” He knelt down next to her. Hermione frowned and thought, “I would imagine it was someone named Malfoy.” He smiled, “Yes, Lucius Malfoy, one of the wealthiest wizards at the time. The claim was for a diamond necklace his son Draco bought for his fiancée, you. It was settled a week before the Wizard set sail. It was filed right after the sinking, so the diamond had to have gone down with the ship. You see the date, April 14th, 1912. Which means if you are who you say you are, you were wearing the diamond the day the Wizard sank. Which makes you, Hermione, my new best friend.” A few hours later the group of Hermione, Luna, Bob, and some of the workers were crowded around wizarding screens, images of the ship underwater sent up. One of the workers had just explained how the Wizard went down. Hermione raised her eyebrows at him and said, “Thank you for that fine…forensic analysis, Mr. Lewis. Of course, the experience of it was…somewhat different.” “Will you share it with us?” Bob asked. Hermione sighed and looked at the projections of the sunken ship, saying, “It's been 84 years.” “It's okay, just try to remember anything. Anything at all.” “Do you want to hear this or not, Mr. Lovett? It's been…84 years, and I can still smell the fresh paint. The china had never been used. The sheets had never been slept in. The Wizard was called `a ship of magic'. And it was. It really was.” A/N: If you've seen Titanic, you might be thinking `Well, this prologue was basically the beginning of the titanic, with a few differences.' And I promise you; it's just this beginning thing that's a lot like the movie. The rest of it is basically the storyline, but changed. So I'll try to get the next chapter out soon!
