I'm not a perfect person
There are many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know
I found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear
I found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you
I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do

Ginny sat by the window, staring out into the night. It was so peaceful, but inside her it was killing her. She hadn't heard from him in over a month, even though he had vowed to write to her everyday. She knew that he was doing something important and that he couldn't always keep his promise, with all the things going on. The war was still raging and Harry had finally gotten rid of the last Horcrux and needed Draco to lead them to Voldemort's hideout.
There was a gentle tapping on the window. It was an owl. Ginny stood up and let the owl in. It swooped down and landed on the table. Ginny untied the letter and a small package and gave the owl a treat. It ate the treat and left through the open window. It was a thick letter that contained three letters. The first one was addressed to her from Harry.
Dear Ginny,
There are two letters here for you and Hermione. Please give mine to her and give her my love. The one for you is from Draco. Don't worry about him. We aren't doing anything rash to him and he isn't doing anything to us. Please know that we are safe and that we will be back before you know it.
From, Harry.
She looked at the letter and smiled. Harry had finally found someone he loved and she was happy for him. She didn't hate Hermione as much as she thought she would. And since she got to know Draco better, she now loved him. Although she and Harry had broken things off at Dumbledore's funeral, she bared no hard feelings. She knew she wasn't the one. She took out the last two letters and left the one for Hermione on the table. She looked at the other letter that was addressed to her from Draco. Her hands were trembling while she tried to open the letter. When she finally gotten it open, she took out the parchment. She sat down beside the window and started reading.
My dearest Ginny,
I'm so sorry that I haven't written to you in over a month. I know that this would've gotten you worried about me and I'm happy that there is a person in the world that cares for me. The reason why I haven't sent you anything was because I couldn't think of how to write what you are about to read. I wanted some time before I wrote down what I wanted to say to you.
I'm not a perfect person, Ginny. You should remember that. I've done many things in my past that I regret. One of them is torturing you and your family when we were in school. The reason why I did that was because I was jealous. I never had the kind of family you have. You should know that I never meant to do those things to you, Ginny. They were never meant for you. I'm learning how to love right now, and it's the best feeling in the world. And it's all for you.
I'm sorry that I hurt you during your first year. That's something that I have lived with everyday I'm not around you. I was under the influence of my father back then. I didn't know that giving you that diary would damage you in such a way that you couldn't trust yourself anymore. Ginny, I love you just the way you are. I will always be there to catch your tears or catch you when you fall. I will be there when you need someone to comfort you, someone to cry on, and someone to trust.
Ginny noticed that the parchment had small dried up drops of water on them. Were they tears?
I found a reason for me to change who I used to be. I found a reason to show you a side of me you didn't know. A reason for all that I am doing now. Why I'm changing into a Draco that you could love. That reason is you, Ginny. You have been the only constant thing in my life and I wish I could take everything back. Everything that I have done to hurt you and your family, and Potter as well. Everything. I wish everything were different. And I wish I didn't do this in a letter, but I wanted you to have it soon.
There is supposed to be a package that came with this letter. Open it, Ginny.
Ginny looked over to the table. The small package that was attached to the owl. She thought it was for Hermione. She picked it up and unwrapped it. It was a small velvet box. Her hands trembled while she opened it. What she saw inside made her gasp.
It was a ring. It was made of silver and a lone ruby sat on the top. Ginny felt tears in her eyes. She went back to the letter.
Ginny, you are the only person that I couldn't live without. I love you with all my heart. Wear the ring as a symbol of my love for you. You are the only person that is always on my mind. You are my reason to live through this war.
I only have one question to ask you.
Ginerva Weasley, will you marry me?
Love with all my heart,
Draco
Ginny was crying. But she wasn't crying tears of sadness, they were of joy. She slipped on the ring and it began to glow. It then changed color. It became green. She smiled. She knew that somehow, her reason for her to live was thinking about her.
“Yes, Draco, I will marry you.” she whispered to the night.

Draco had waited for seven months to see his future wife again and when the Final Battle arrived, he saw it as a sign that he would be going home soon to his fiancée. Now that he was standing at the driveway of the Burrow together with Harry and Ron, he never felt more excited in his whole life. He couldn't wait to see Ginny and spend as much time with her as he could before their wedding planning started.
As they came up to the Burrow, Draco recalled the time he got a letter back from Ginny saying that she would marry him. He was so overjoyed she accepted that he told both Harry and Ron at the same time, not caring what their reactions would be to the news. He thought they took it quite well actually…
*Flashback*
`You WHAT!?!?' screamed a furious Ron as Harry held him back from Draco.
`I asked her to marry me, Ron, and she said YES! There's nothing you can do about it.' smirked Draco.
`You WAIT until I tell my father! He'll agree with me that this is a bad idea. He'll -`
`He gave me permission to do so. I see no reason to bring in Mr. Weasley into this.' Draco said coolly.
`Ron, if your dad has said it's alright, then leave it be. There's nothing you can do. I'm sure Draco will take god care of Ginny. They love each other.' said Harry.
`But Harry you don't get it, do you? This is MALFOY we're talking about! I don't want HIM -`he pointed at Draco, 'to be my brother-in-law! He has always put my family down in the past and now he wants to be a part of it? WHAT IS THAT? Some kind of twisted plot to get to me? Even though he's helping the Order and everyone thinks that he's changed doesn't mean that he's still the slimy little ferret at heart! How could you trust him so easily, Harry? He doesn't do anything but lie and cheat!' Ron ranted.
`As if, Weas -Ron. I meant no such thing. I do love your sister, very much. And if I ever did hurt her, then I give you permission to do whatever you see fit. And I'm not a ferret! That happened in 4th year and it still haunts my dreams. I don't lie or cheat either. I told you where to fine Voldy, didn't I?' said Draco.
`Ron, he's telling the truth you know. He does love Ginny, and she loves him back. There's nothing to worry about.' Harry injected.
Ron kept staring at Draco with a glare that could stop anything in its tracks. Then he gave a sigh of defeat and turned away from Draco and Harry and left the tent, leaving to see if anything new had come up.
Harry turned to Draco. `You really know how to push his buttons don't you? Ah well, at least he's accepting it. I'm happy for you, Draco, really and truly I am, that you finally asked her. You'll make a good husband, if you keep up with the goody-two shoes routine and not give Ron a reason to kill you. '
`Don't worry, Harry. I've changed. Nothing will harm Ginny if I'm around.' Draco said firmly.
`Let's keep an open mind.' said Harry, and he left the tent as well.
*End of Flashback*
He turned into the front lawn of the Burrow and turned to look at his two companions, deep in conversation about something. He cleared his throat.
`So… we're OK with things, right, Ron?' he asked, cautiously.
`Yeah, yeah, whatever. S'long as you don't hurt her, you don't get hurt either.' Ron mumbled.
`OK, so do we go in now?' Harry asked the two.
`Yeah, lets! I smell my mum's cooking!' said Ron with excitement.
`Do you ever think about anything else BUT food?' said Draco sarcastically.
Harry laughed at his comment while Ron ignored him and entered the Burrow.
`So, happy to be home Harry?' asked Draco.
`Yeah, it feels so good to have nothing weighing on me. And now that there's nothing that's going to cause any disturbances, I can spend some quality time with Hermione.' said Harry dreamily.
Draco smirked and entered the Burrow. When he got inside, he got pushed over and all he saw nothing but a blur of red hair. I know who this is, Draco thought instantly.
`I'm so glad you're finally home!' cried Ginny.
`I couldn't let you sit here and be whisked away by some guy who has the hots for you.' smirked Draco.
He leaned in and gave a small kiss on the lips and pulled away instantly and looked at her hand. She was wearing the ring he had sent her those many months ago. It had changed color, just like it had when he had first bought it. It had now turned silvery gray. Now, why did it change into that color, Draco thought.
Author's Note: Thank you everyone for your reviews and reading my stories but I'm sorry to say that I will be deleting the stories that I have written here on Portkey except for this one because I have had no time in the past few months to update ANY because of my school year making me prepare for public exams. This is the only one I've completed and I am proud of this one. I may come back again to complete the others but improved. Thank you all for your reviews, supporting or otherwise.
