(Nothing but a good 'ol fluffy story.) From the Unofficial Portkey Archive: https://portkey-archive.org/story/5250/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Red Ferrets Disclaimer: I don’t own any raven-haired wizards that cruise around on broomsticks and drink juice that comes from pumpkins. “Oh come on, Gin. It’s not that bad.” “Yes, it is, and you know it!” “I hardly see the problem here.” “It’s your fault! And don’t even bother to say that it’s not because I am not in the mood!” “Gin-“he sighed as he made to kiss the top of her head. “Don’t!” she hissed viciously. “Don’t-even-think-about-it-because-I-will-not-hesitate-to-curse-you-with-a-Bat-Bogey-Hex.” Draco knew when to back off. Even though he was not an expert about women, Draco knew how handle Ginny. Well, for the most part. This whole predicament wasn’t entirely his doing. It did take two to tango, after all. Damn it! He was a Malfoy and also a male! He didn’t need to listen to a woman! He would never stoop so low as to obey a Weasley! “Draco,” Ginny yelled vehemently. “Are you even listening to me?” “Yes, dear,” the blonde wizard assured her, nodding his head several times. He looked and sounded almost terrified. The truth was…Draco Malfoy was pretty much whipped. As much as he liked to deny it, all he needed left was the official ball and chain. Potter and Weasley never grew tired of taunting him; always talking about a river in Egypt called The Nile- or as those two idiots put it- denial. “Draco!” Ginny whined. And Draco lifted his head up, his train of thought interrupted. “Anything you want, Gin?” He gave her the best smile he could produce, hoping that the yelling would stop. She had certainly inherited her mother’s lung capacity to yell whenever she felt like it. Ginny cried out in an exasperated tone,” Just read it again, honey. You’ll see it from my point of view. It’s awful.” Perhaps she was overreacting a little. So what if there a little article about him in the latest Witch Weekly? At least he wasn’t in Playwitch, right? He shouldn’t be in trouble just because he wasn’t as upset as Ginny was; just because he thought it was too much of a bother correcting. “Gin,” Draco groaned, hitting his head on the dinner table repeatedly. “I’ve read it a million times! It doesn’t change one bit! Besides, it’s just one page, and you’re the only one going ballistic over it. The article doesn’t change anything. We’re still together!” “It didn’t sound like that from the first sentence!” the red-haired witch retorted. She crossed her arms across her chest and glared daggers at the wizard in trouble. It was a known fact to the Weasley family and close friends that Ginevra Weasley was the only witch that Draco Malfoy was ever afraid of. It seemed as though he still was. “Gin,” he began again. “Don’t you ‘Gin’ me, mister!” she growled. Draco stared at the woman. She was a feisty little woman. Didn’t she know that it made her even more attractive? He was unable to stop looking at her. Merlin, she was beautiful. Once she saw Draco looking at her oddly, she asked crossly, “What are you staring at?” A smile graced his lips. “Did I ever tell you that I love red hair?” Ginny’s cheeks flushed, and her cinnamon brown eyes refused to meet Draco’s silver. “Well, not really,” she mumbled. “And your skin,” he continued, “it really is the softest, fairest I’ve ever had the pleasure to touch.” He grabbed her nearest hand and laid her palm on his pale cheek. “It better be,” she muttered, still frowning. “Your eyes,” Draco added,” have got to be the sweetest, most innocent I have ever seen.” The redhead resisted the urge to snort. Innocent? Draco Malfoy made sure that she became anything but innocent. Was he still talking about when they had first started dating? “I love your lips,” Draco declared, thrusting his own onto hers passionately. Surprised at first, she gradually returned the kiss. A moan of pleasure eventually escaped one of their throats. Neither of them cared which one it was. When they finally broke apart, the blond wizard gasped,”Do you remember what I said about your kisses?” He grinned at his woman. Ginny smiled at him as she stroked his delicate and noticeably silky hair. “Yeah, I remember,” she giggled. “You said they tasted like chocolate, sinful chocolate.” And so they did. Ginny looped her arms behind Draco’s neck as he kissed hers. “So,” Draco whispered gently into Ginny’s right ear,” Am I still in trouble?” Quickly remembering that he still was, she pushed him off angrily. “DRACO MALFOY!” she shrieked. “WHAT A HORIBBLE, DESPICABLE, AWFUL THING TO DO! THIS JUST MADE YOU EVEN MORE IN TROUBLE!” The wizard cringed, sure that his ears were going to bleed. Her voice was the exact replica of her mother’s. He could not escape Ginny Weasley’s wrath. “REALLY! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? WERE YOU THINKING THAT YOU WOULD GET AWAY WITH IT?” And with that, she smacked him upside the head. He whimpered but did not do more than that, frightened that she would kill him for making an even larger noise. What he wanted to do more than anything was to kiss Ginny Weasley so he could shut her up. But forever was a long time to kiss someone, and eventually they would need to break apart for the necessities such as air and food. With her yelling, the former Slytherin barely had room to think. “Draco!” she shouted. That was a good sign. She decreased the volume. “Yes, Gin?” He asked sweetly. He was hoping that out of the goodness of her heart that she would spare him. That was wishful thinking. “That was very naughty of you,” Ginny suddenly said. “Very, very naughty.” “Hmm…” Draco suspiciously replied. She sounded kinky. He liked that. Who would have known that she was related to a stupid git for a brother named Ronald Weasley? Who would have known that she was best friends with Potter and Granger? Who would have known? Draco grabbed for her hand, and was about to kiss again when she quickly snapped, “And if you want to be forgiven, you’re going to have to do a lot more that just kiss me.” “What?” That was so Malfoy-ish of her, it wasn’t even funny. Draco looked at Ginny in shock, who just looked loathingly at her boyfriend. “You heard me, Ferret. You aren’t deaf,” she reminded him. With a smirk, she added,” Or at least not yet.” Draco snorted. “I want more than just a kiss. You have to earn my forgiveness. And for starters,” Ginny handed him the latest copy of Witch Weekly,” I want you to tell me what’s wrong with this article.” She looked expectantly at Draco. “Well?” The blonde, young man sighed in defeat. She was never going give up, was she? He might as well get it over with. Besides, he didn’t feel much like sleeping on the couch tonight. Damn. He could just picture Scarhead and Weasel cracking upon how the powerful and the feared Malfoy was whipped by little Ginny Weasley. If he heard them whisper about some Egyptian River one more time… “Well?” the witch repeated. Bloody hell! How did she keep doing that? He couldn’t think straight when she was around, “Okay,” he agreed. (Or gave up.) “I’ll read it over, but don’t expect me to barge over to their office and demand that they recall every issue they sold. It’s just tabloids, Gin.” “Just read it,” she sighed. “Silently or out loud?” Draco inquired. Ginny groaned audibly, and managed,” Silently, or I swear I’ll have a headache.” She then muttered something that sounded suspiciously like,” Why I put up with him, I’ll never know. Just Avada Kedavra me now!” The Slytherin glanced at the magazine. It wasn’t that bad, was it? It was such a short article to be angry over. He had to admit, he liked the title. He wasn’t all too sure about the opening sentence, though. Bachelor Number Two: Draco Malfoy We love this badass Slytherin and his notorious ‘I’m sexy!’ attitude. His smooth blonde hair is always gleaming in the sun, making you want to reach out and touch it. We adore his intimidating pale skin. All in all, we love Draco Malfoy. You can’t say that you don’t love a multi-tasked person. Not only is he an auror, fighting alongside famous names such as Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, but he is also a reserve seeker for the Puddlemere United. Athletes always have toned bodies and hard muscles. Draco is not just a handsome face, but he cooks, cleans, and listens, too. What’s better than a young hot wizard? How about a single one? Apparently he’s not dating anyone, and we wonder why: “Oh, I’ve known Draco all my life,” spills Pansy Parkinson, a pretty-faced former Slytherin from Hogwarts. “He took me to the Yule Ball in our fourth year as a date. Even though we didn’t end up together, I still consider him as one of my best friends. I know Draco all too well, and he’s just not the type of guy to commit to one person. I think the last person he dated was Ginny Weasley, and I can tell you that this didn’t end up all too well.” Here’s for hopeful dreaming, girls. “I’m done,” Draco announced, handing the issue back to Ginny. He took her hand, and pulled her onto his lap. She didn’t complain, but she didn’t look too happy, either. He still didn’t think this article was his fault. “Will you tell me what’s wrong with it now?” Ginny cried. “Am I really that pale?” the wizard asked. “OW!” he said when she elbowed him in the stomach. She didn’t find his attempt at a joke really funny. “Well, other than Pansy saying that we are best friends, everything seems to be correct. I especially liked the part where they say I can cook, clean, and listen. Girls around the world dream hopefully,” he added with excitement in his eyes. “That scarlet woman,” she hissed. “So you’re saying that our dating didn’t go all too well? What are you saying, Draco?” “Oh,” Draco stated lamely. “That. Well, it’s not true, you know that, Gin. That’s what counts, isn’t it? And did they really have to include Potter and your brother on my page?” “Whatever,” Ginny muttered. “I wonder who made Bachelor Number One,” Draco said as he opened the magazine once again to find out who it was. His silver eyes glanced at the page, meeting Harry Potter’s green eyes. Draco scowled. “Figures.” “Who is it?” Ginny wondered out loud. “Potter,” he answered. “Oh,” Ginny said, trying to find more words. “Well, that was…predictable.” Draco skimmed the article, and exclaimed, “Hey! You’re in here as well!” “What?” She shrieked in outrage. “You’re mentioned as the first girl who had a crush on him!” Draco smiled evilly as she huffed and puffed. Even though he loved Ginny, he was still a Slytherin, sly and cunning they were. “WILL I ALWAYS BE KNOWN AS THE GIRL WHO HAD THAT STUPID, IDIOTIC CRUSH ON THE BOY-WHO-LIVED?” Ginny screamed out to no one in particular. “Seems like it, babe,” Draco teased. “If it makes you feel better, I don’t think of you like that. You’re not some girl. You’re my girl. And you don’t have a crush on Potter. I have a crush on you.” “That’s sweet,” she said in distraction. “Harry won’t be too happy about this either. He would be rash enough to stomp over to the Witch Weekly office and command that they correct everything in that page.” “Yeah,” Draco agreed. “He would be stupid enough to do that.” “At least Harry would be kind enough to offer to straighten things out,” Ginny retorted. “Unlike some people.” “Potter,” he snarled,” You’re unintentionally stealing my girl! How the hell do you that?” “Maybe that’s why he’s Bachelor Number One, and you’re two,” she taunted. Ouch. “Scarhead needs to find his own girlfriend.” Ginny snorted at that comment. “What? He does! If he thinks that he could go and steal you away from me, then he’s got another thing coming!” “Don’t be stupid, Draco. He’s already got his eyes on someone else.” * “Oh yeah? Who?” “Wouldn’t you like to know,” Ginny tantalized. The tone of her voice sounded that of the triumphant ‘I know something you don’t know’ tune. After a few minutes, Draco took hold of her hand and pulled her outside of their flat. “Come on, Gin. Let’s go eat someplace. I’m starving.” “Hey!” Ginny protested. “Are you even going to tell me where you’re taking me?” “Just trust me,” the wizard replied as he took a portkey out of his pocket. He motioned for Ginny to touch the odd object. She recognized it from her Muggle Studies lessons; it was a rubber ducky. The rubber ducky brought them to Hogsmeade. Ah, what wonderful memories there were at Hogsmeade. Draco still held her hand as they walked through the village. They stopped before a building that they had been countless of times: The Three Broomsticks. Over the years, it seemed as if the building itself grew weary. It wasn’t as bright and eye-catching as it used to be, probably because it took part as a shelter in the Second War, but it still held precious memories nonetheless. The place was still being run by Madame Rosmerta’s money, but she had hired others to do the business. “It’s changed so much hasn’t it?” She observed quietly. “It has,” Draco agreed,” but it’s still here, and that’s what matters. Do you know why this place is so significant to me?” Ginny pretended to act confused. “Of course!” She blurted. “Our first date! How could I forget?” Draco looked at her in disbelief. “I’m only kidding, Honey.” She laughed at her boyfriend. “Really, Draco, I could never for get that. After all, it was exactly four years ago.” It certainly had been four wonderful years. Draco couldn’t believe his luck when she had agreed to go on a date. He had remembered smirking when Potter and Weasley warned her that it was a trick, a prank. He never really understood why she had trusted him so. “What made you trust me, four years ago? I mean, everyone was telling you that I was a no good death eater’s son, and you dated me anyway.” “Your eyes,” she replied. “My eyes?” He asked in surprise. “They give away everything,” Ginny told him. ‘I better start wearing sunglasses then,’ Draco thought. “No, you shouldn’t,” Ginny said angrily. “Did I say that out loud?” Draco said, obviously confused. “Yes, you did, and you shouldn’t wear any. They’d make you look blind. Besides, I love your silver eyes. They’re what make you you.” “Well, then. I guess I’m just going to have to allow you to look at me more often.” “You tease.” “So, Gin,” Draco started. “I was wondering something…” His cheeks were turning a dark shade of red. “Yes?” She urged him to go on. “Well, I know this isn’t the most romantic way to ask you…” He ran a hand through his hair, an action he always did when he was nervous. “But I was wondering if…” He was struggling to get the words out. “If?” The suspense was killing her. “Um, I was wondering what it would be like to be,” he choked,” to be married.” “Are you asking what I’m thinking you’re asking?” “Maybe,” he said sheepishly. “I know it’s not romantic, but-“ “Yes.” “What?” “I say yes to whatever your question was. I was beginning to think that you were commitment-phobic, and that I would have to ask you myself.” “There is no bloody way that I would let you propose to me, a Malfoy.” He gave Ginny a kiss on the top of her head and looped his arms around her waist. “What a sight it would be…” “What would be?” “To have red ferrets running around, of course,” he answered with sincerity. “Red ferrets?” Ginny asked with amusement in her voice. “Well, our ferrets would most likely take that Weasley gene and get red hair, thus the ‘red ferrets.’” “How many ferrets do you plan on having?” She raised her eyebrow at him. “Oh I don’t know,” he shrugged. “I just don’t want our first son to be an only child like me. That’s just awful. I was thinking we approach the Weasley way of reproducing, you know, seven kids. That way we could take over the world,” he cackled evilly. Ginny playfully smacked him on the arm. “You do realize that it would be me having the kids, don’t you?” “That’s why I’m more comfortable about the subject than you are.” “Draco?” She asked. “Yeah, Gin?” “Shut up.” And they kissed until they were interrupted by the blinding flash of Colin Creevy’s camera. * The person who Harry has his eye on could be anybody. If it were up to me, it would be Hermione. A/N: This was the first story I ever wrote. It was the one that made me realize that fan fiction is so much fun! Yeah, I know it’s a bit choppy…
