It's Impossible
I tried to forget you. I tried over and over again. But your face kept coming back into my head. Your voice, your touch, everything about sends shivers through me. Your eyes electrify every nerve in my body when you look at me. I can't look away. I want you to love me. Not her. I want you to kiss me. Not her. I want you to be with me. Not her. Why can't you love me? Why can' you love Hermione Granger, not Ginny Weasley.
Oh, I know why. She is beautiful, perfect, of course she plays qudditch. The question should be, why wouldn't you love her? Isn't she everything you ever wanted? Your 'goddess'. Your 'angel'. Well, Harry, why can't it be me? Am I not pretty enough? Am I not smart enough? Or do I have to like quidditch? I wish I knew... It's impossible, it seems, to be good enough for you.
***
Do you see me as a nobody? Do you even see me? Why have you ignored me for the past year? Is it because you think I'm shallow, a jerk? Hermione, why do you not talk to me? You are ripping my heart to shreds. The hear that only you possess. Not Ginny, not any other girl, just you. It will always be you.
I will always love you for who you are. I love the way your eyes light up when you see a book, or your skin and hair in the fire light... But, you don't even look at me... don't speak to me... don't acknowledge me. Why? Have I done something to hurt you?
***
"Harry, Love, you need to go to bed."
"I know," he said, "I know..."
Ginny frowned. He had been so distant ever since their relationship had started back up. Was something wrong with her? Did Harry Potter not like her? Every other boy did...
"Harry? Why have you not talked to me? You seem so... preoccupied. You never kiss me, you never hold me hand... What's wrong?"
"I--Ginny... I think... I think we made a mistake getting back together."
"What?" she asked, choking the word out, "You can't be serious!"
"Yes," he admitted, "yes I am serious. It's... It's not the same."
"Who is she?" she demanded.
Harry looked up at her, "I never cheated on you," he growled. It was the truth.
"How can I know that?" she asked, hysterically, jumping up from her spot of the couch, "How can I know that you never have?"
"Because, you said you trust me. I. Have. Never. Cheated. On. You."
"Then... Why?" she asked, tears coming to her eyes, "Why do you want us not to be together?"
"Because we aren't made for each other. You don't know me. You don't know who I am. You don't love me either."
"Yes, I do! I love you!"
"No, you love Harry Potter. You love the famous Boy-Who-Lived. Not Harry. Not the-boy-who-slept-in-a- cupboard-for-eleven-years."
"How do you know if I love you or not?!" she asked, incredulously, "How do you know how I feel?"
"I don't love you. And I am not willing to be in a relationship that won't go anywhere."
"I--FINE! But I will make you regret this!" she screamed, slamming down her book. Ginny stormed out of the common room and up the girl's staircases.
Harry shook his head, feeling oddly light. Groaning he slumped back on the couch in front of the common room fire, and let his eyes drift steadily closed. The faint sound of the portrait hole opening, though, roused him from his soon-to-be sleep.
“Harry?” a small voice asked.
“Mm…” he replied, coherent thought unreachable at the moment. He sat up and looked blearily over to the still open `door' to the Gryffindor common room. He couldn't see anything, but of course… He didn't have his glasses on either.
He reached for them, and jammed them on his face. Even with clear vision, he still couldn't see anything so--wait!
“Hermione?” he asked, looking at a spot to his left, “Why do you have my invisibility cloak?”
“Take a walk with me?” she whispered back.
He nodded slowly. He should have checked the room. For some reason, he could see through invisibility cloaks now…
He followed her figure through the still open portrait hole.
“Where are you going?”
“Head Boy business,” he told the portrait.
“Oh, right, right. I still forget you' grown up…”
Turning away from the Fat Lady with a small smile forming on his face, he once again followed Hermione…
When did she get so fast? he asked himself. She had already gotten to the entrance to Hogwarts and was waiting there when he stopped.
He was--breathless was an understatement, but, it will have to do. Her face was tilted towards the full moon, and its silver rays where reflected on her flawless skin.
Something compelled him to say it… He didn't know what, but he had to…
“You're beautiful, you know that?” he asked.
She turned to him, her face warmer than usual.
“Thank you, Harry.”
“And smart,” he continued, “We all know me and Ron would be dead a million times over if it weren't for you.”
“Thank you.”
“They aren't compliments, you know… They are the truth. You are beautiful, smart, funny, friendly… loving.”
“You are too. Er, except for the beautiful part… Just replace it with dashing.”
He looked himself over. Was he really dashing?
“Harry,” she said, having caught him giving himself a once over after her comment, smiling, “just take my word. You aren't ugly. In fact, you are one of the best looking guys here at school.”
He just stared at her. And you are the most beautiful creature I have ever seen.
He couldn' say it… no, he shouldn't... But he did, “No where compared to you.”
“What--what do you mean?” she asked. Is he… Will… Will he--
“I've never seen anything more stunning before. They way the moon reflects of your skin. The way your eyes light up when something you read becomes useful. When you smile when you see me paying Dobby. When I see you coming downstairs in the morning, happy and alert when everyone else is still asleep When you stay up with me at night because I can sleep. I love how your hair bounces when you walk. I love how you handle you books with so much care, as if they are a newborn. I love… you.” There. He had said it.
“You--you do?”
“Yes,” he replied.
He gathered her in his arms and looked down at her shining face.
“It's impossible not to,” he said, and then he kissed her. And she kissed him back.
A/N: Good? Bad? Mediocre? Personally, I like it… Anyways, it is a one-shot. So don't expect more chapters. This is a quicky. Not a lot put into it. But, I hope you like it!
Please review! I will love you forever! And ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever.
And ever, and ever, and ever, and ever… MORE THAN HARRY LOVES HERMIONE!! :P
