After The Rain
She sat in her favorite window seat, watching the water drip slowly off the trees. The rainstorm that had come up suddenly had just ended. Leaving the earth moist and fragrant with the smell of the newly fallen rain.
It was times like this that reminded her of times past when things weren't always as they were
now. Of times when war raged around them and they lived in fear. But that was behind them now. The
rain was over and so was the war.
She smiled to herself as she remembered the days after the war had ended. So many wonderful
memories had been made.
Her smile grew as she ran her hands over her swollen belly. Yes, so many wonderful memories and new
beginnings had been made.
The sound of the front door closing with a soft click roused her from her thoughts but did not
diminish her smile. Instead, it grew wider.
"Well someone is happy today," a voice said from the doorway of the sitting room where
she was sitting in the window. Turning, she felt her heart leap the way it always did when her eyes
came to rest on this man. Her husband. It still sent shivers down her spine to think of him that
way.
They had been married for a year and it still felt like they were meeting for the first time all
over again.
Finding her voice, she simply said, "I'm happy because the storm is over."
Nodding in understanding, he pushed himself away from the doorframe he had been leaning on and made
his way over to his wife. After dropping a kiss on the top of her head, he knelt in front of her
and lifted her shirt just enough to expose her rounded belly.
"Hello in there. It's daddy again. I just wanted to say hello and tell you I love you. I
can't wait until your born in a few short weeks. I'm gonna teach you all sorts of great
stuff. Now you be good for your mommy," he said, finishing his little speech by dropping a
kiss on her smooth belly.
Smiling warmly at her husband she whispered, "I can't wait for our child to meet you. I
just know he/she will love you just as much as I do."
"I can't wait either. I love you Hermione Potter," her husband whispered, leaning up
to kiss his wife on the lips.
"I love you too, Harry Potter."
