Prologue
“Oh Harry! That’s wonderful how you finally caught that dark wizard! I’m so proud of you,” a young red-headed witch said happily as Harry Potter explained to his girlfriend, Ginny Weasley about how his case with a Death Eater that had been found trying to plot to take down the Ministry. Harry was now 28 years-old and was living in a small town called Willow Creek. It had been almost a decade since his last year at Hogwarts. A few months ago, Harry and his best friend Ron Weasley had met for a bit and Ginny had been there. He and Ginny had hit it off instantly and had gone out for a few days. Now they were living together. Nothing serious was actually happening though.
Harry smiled and looked down at Ginny who gave him a soft kiss. “I can’t believe it! Oh...what are you doing?” Ginny blinked, looking down at his suitcase which was filled with new shirts and pants that he had just gotten.
“I’m going to see my family, remember I told you about it?” he looked at her, trying to find a decent pair of sneakers in his closet. Ginny made a face and rolled her eyes, picking up a shirt that was flannel and blue plaid.
“And what is this? Oh honestly Harry. It’s been years since you’ve seen your family. Don’t you want to make a good impression? You don’t want to be wearing things like this. Look at what I just got you!” Ginny smiled, tossing all the clothes from his suitcase and taking out a large grey back and pulling out a grey sweater that had diamonds across the front of the sweater.
Harry looked up from the closet and frowned. “But...I just got those shirts. And that’s really not me...,” he slowly said, picking up the suitcase and his clothes.
She rolled her eyes. “This is your family Harry! You haven’t seen them in years and you need to make an impression. Come on! With the money you just got, we can go shopping!” she squealed, grabbing his arm and dragging him out of the house. “Besides I have a surprise for you...”
He cocked and eyebrow and shook his head, looking out to the street. His jaw dropped as he saw someone disposing of his Firebolt. “Hey! Wh-What are you doing?! That’s mine!” he quickly ran over, seeing it being shredded into pieces.
Beside him, Ginny shook her head. “Oh come on Harry. You want your family to know you have nice things,” she coaxed. Harry sighed and looked at the man who was zooming away. “I had my first kiss on that broom...” he mumbled.
“Oh stop living in the past Harry! Look what I got you!” Ginny smiled happily, running behind the house and showing him the fastest racing broom in the world. The Aqua Quicksilver. It was as smooth as water and could fly at the speed of light.
Harry turned and looked at his girlfriend. “But Ginny...I never really decided.....”
“Right, I picked it for you! You need to stop being indecisive Harry! You’re famous! Spoil yourself a bit! And before I forget, I have one last surprise for you!” Ginny swooned, running inside the back door of the house. Harry sighed and rubbed his temples. Too many surprises....
Ginny quickly came back out with two large suitcases. Harry blinked.
“I’m coming with you!”

Chapter 1: Meeting the Family
What am I doing? Harry thought to himself as he and Ginny were on their way to his family’s house. He was on his new broom, Ginny with her arms tightly around his waist and her head on his back. They had shrunk all their suitcases and placed them in their pockets.
The air was brisk as it flew through Harry’s messy hair. He quickly made his way down and saw a rather large pale blue house. On top of the door was a banner saying, 25th Year of the Potter Cup. Harry cringed and hovered a bit before dismounting. He threw the broom over his shoulder and hoped that Ginny wouldn’t notice the banner. But no avail.
“What’s the Potter Cup?” she asked dumbfounded. Harry whistled a bit. “Oh it’s nothing,” he said quickly.
Ginny huffed and pulled her sunglasses on. “You’re so cruel Harry. There’s a huge banner on top of the door.” Harry cringed once again and looked at the banner. He sighed and turned back to Ginny.
“Every year my family has this kind of tournament every year since I was little and now we always come back to....be in it,” he muttered the explanation, confused at why Ginny’s face lit up when she heard this.
“Oh Harry! Can’t you understand? This is your year! It’s going to be your year! I mean, you just uncovered the whole mystery thing!” she told him, waving her hand in dismissal. Harry cringed and sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“Seriously Ginny. It’s not big deal,” he muttered, not wanting her to find out that he had never won ever. Every year it had been either his sister, Elizabeth, or his brother, Gilbert (who had always rubbed it in his face).
Together, Harry and Ginny walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell. Harry tapped his foot on the doorstep and looked at the sky. Then he turned to the door which had slowly opened.
“HARRY!” a feminine voice shouted, throwing her arms around Harry. He stumbled a bit when he saw the flaming red hair of his mother. “Hi...Mum...,” he mumbled against the heap of hair in his mouth. She pulled back.
“Oh darling, you’re skin and bones!” she cried, cupping his face. Lily Potter was about 57 years-old and aging. Her hair was graying and she had a few wrinkles along her cheeks and forehead. She was a slim woman, a little plump.
“I’m fine mum..Really...,” he gave her a small smile, sighing in relief when she turned to Ginny.
“And who is this lovely lady? That girl you described in all your letters? She’s so beautiful,” Lily smiled, hugging Ginny. Ginny smiled happily and gladly hugged back.
“Harry, your mum’s so nice!” she told him, smirking inwardly at the resemblance between her and Lily. She knew that somehow Harry would propose to her on this vacation.
“Call me Lily, darling,” Lily told Ginny, wagging her finger at her. Ginny laughed softly and nodded in response.
“Come in, come in!” Lily beckoned, pushing both Harry and Ginny inside the house.
Harry looked around, knowing that it had not changed one ounce. Every thing was still the same it was when he had moved out. He followed his mother into the kitchen to see his father, James Potter.
“Well, who’s that little man standing there?! Is that Harry?!” James acted as if he was quite old, holding his hand over his eyes. He was about 58 years-old and stood at 6'1". His jet black hair, which Harry had inherited was lined with a few silver hairs. If he had not had the wrinkles in his face, he would have looked quite youthful. His brown eyes were warm and full of life as they stared at Harry’s green eyes.
“Come here and give your old man a hug!” James called out, his arms spread. Harry smiled and walked over, hugging his father. It had been a year since he had seen his father and it felt good. He had always looked up to his father. For very obvious reasons.
“Haven’t changed a bit,” James grinned, smacking Harry on the back. Quickly, he turned to Ginny.
“Oi, who’s this girl? She’s the spittin image of Lily! ‘Cept for the eyes!” he exclaimed, offering a hand for Ginny to shake.
She gave him a polite smile and shook his hand in return. “Hello, I’m Ginny Weasley,” she introduced to herself.
James smirked and swung an arm around Harry’s shoulders. “Fished yourself a good one, aye?” he nudged him in the stomach.
Harry laughed weakly. “Yeah...”
“Well come and have a seat! We’re about to have some pie!” Lily smiled, pulling out two seats.
Ginny frowned. She had been on a diet for the past two weeks and hadn’t had anything but lettuce and wheatgrass. She sighed and shrugged. She wanted to get in on the family, so she had to make some kind of sacrifice.
She sat down at the table and gave Lily a fake smile as she sliced her a piece of pumpkin pie. She tentatively took a bite and giggled. “Mmm...this is quite lovely.” Lily gave her a quick smile and walked back into the kitchen.
“Aye, did Harry ever tell you about the time he ate bad pumpkin pie and had the runs for almost two days?” James laughed, clapping.
Harry gaped at his father. “Dad! There isn’t any need to even mention that!” he turned to Ginny who was red in the face and patted his hand.
“Oh Harry...Everyone has their off days...” she tried to comfort, but he just brushed it away.
“Elizabeth!” Harry heard his mother shout from the front entrance. He gave a small smile and got up, walking out of the kitchen.
Elizabeth Potter was a young woman, although she was older than Harry. She had dyed her hair blonde that went quite nicely with her brown eyes. “Mum...I missed you too,” she mumbled, hugging her mother. She looked over her shoulder and gasped.
“Is that my little brother? Oh my,” she squeaked, going over to Harry and hugging him tightly.
Harry gasped for breath and patted her back. “Nice to see you too Beth,” he greeted, using the nickname he had for her when they were little.
Elizabeth pulled back and pinched his cheeks. “My itty bitty brother is ALL grown up!” she smiled.
Harry rolled his eyes and saw that Ginny was coughing so that he would introduce her. He sighed. “Beth, this is my girlfriend, Ginny.”
Elizabeth looked at the young girl and blinked. She looked awfully fake to tell the truth. “Lovely to meet you,” she told her softly and then turned back to Lily.
“So where’s Gillyweed?” she grinned, remembering Gilbert’s old nickname that he hated. And if by magic, the doorbell rang.
Lily walked to the front door and opened it. “Gil!” she exclaimed, hugging him. “Where’s Susan? And my sweet grand kids?”
“Oh, the babysitter is getting them out. She’s Erica,” he smiled, pointing to the car. A teenage girl was in the backseat, unbelting the children from their seats. Susan was on the other side, taking out the other child.
“Hey Mom!” Susan called, waving at Lily.
Lily smiled and walked down the path, giving Susan a hug. “Hello dear. Are you doing all right?” she asked, looking at Susan.
Susan was a brunette haired girl with very grey eyes. She was about 5'5" and held a slim figure for having three kids already.
“I’m doing fine. The kids have been tiring me out waiting to see grandma and grandpa.” she laughed softly.
Lily smiled happily and kneeled. She held her arms out and beckoned for the two oldest children to come and hug her. “Aimee, Danny. You’re so big,” she whispered, kissing both their foreheads.
“Hi grandma. Did you buy us presents?” Danny asked, a stuffed dinosaur in his arm. Susan shushed him.
Lily chuckled. “It’s all right dear. Of course I bought you presents! What kind of grandma would I be? Now, where is the little darling? Tabitha?” she frowned, looking for the little girl.
She stood up and saw that the babysitter was holding her. “Oh lemme have her dear. Nothing against you, I just missed her so,” she smiled, taking the girl.
“Mum, this is Erica. We took her on the trip so she could watch the kids,” Gilbert winked. Lily formed an ‘o’ with her mouth and rocked Tabitha.
“Erica, would you take Danny and Aimee to their room?” Gilbert turned to the babysitter who nodded and hurried the twins into the house.
“Now where’s that little baby brother of mine?” Gilbert grabbed the suitcases and walked inside the house.
Harry, James, Elizabeth, and Ginny were in the kitchen talking when Gilbert had entered, dropping his suitcases at the stairs. He walked into the kitchen. “Hey baby brother,” he called out.
Harry froze and looked at Gilbert who was standing there. “Gil?” he blinked.
Gilbert grinned and walked over to Harry, giving him a ruffle of his already messy hair. “Hey bugger. You don’t look any different! And who picked out that shirt? Mum?” he laughed loudly, slapping his leg.
Ginny coughed and drank tea from her cup. “Actually, I got it for him.”
He turned to Ginny. “Aye, are you his friend or something?”
“Actually, I’m his girlfriend,” she threw her nose in the air. Gilbert laughed.
“Didja charm her or something? You could never get a girl that good lookin! Only kidding,” Gilbert chuckled, slapping Harry on the back, causing him to choke on a piece of biscuit he had been eating.
“Gilbert, my boy!” James grinned, giving him a manly hug.
“Hey, pops.” he grinned. “Hey little sister.” he smiled at Beth, hugging her as well.
“Hey big bro.” she smiled softly.
“Oh! Before I forget...” Elizabeth walked over to a bag she had brought along with her and pulled out a trophy. Well sort of. It was duck taped with little pins all over it.
Gilbert rolled his eyes. “There’s no need for that anymore. Look what I got us.” he grinned, taking his wand out. “Accio trophy,” he called, a silver trophy flying to his finger tips.
“I got a new trophy for us. And look at it here, I got the winner’s name of every tournament engraved. Gilbert, Elizabeth, Gilbert, Elizabeth, Gilbert, Elizabeth, well you get the picture,” he smirked, glancing at Harry.
Ginny turned to Harry. “You’ve never won?” she asked.
“No.” was all he could say as he glowered at Gilbert.
The next day, Harry and the whole family had decided to go down to the Quidditch shop that Harry’s grandmother owned. They entered the shop, a group of commotion. Luckily it was a Monday and no one really came around that time of day.
“Is that my family over yonder?” she smiled. She was a short woman who only looked about 70, her hair fully greyed.
“Hi Grandma Alice,” Harry greeted, hugging her tightly. Out of everyone in the family, she was his favorite.
“Ah, my grandson. I missed seeing you here,” she winked at him and continued to hug the rest of the family.
A young girl ran down the stairs of the shop and sighed, running a hand through her hair as she sorted through boxes that had just arrived.
“Who’s this? I don’t remember another daughter in the family....,” Alice laughed.
Harry smiled and told her, “This is Ginny, grandma. My..uh-girlfriend,” he said slowly.
Alice looked her over and sighed, hugging her. “Ello dearie.” Ginny gave a small and brief smile before turning to Harry. “I’m going to go outside. I need more freshening up. I didn’t get enough beauty sleep,” she huffed, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek and walked outside.
He shook his head and walked around the shop, looking at the Snitches that were on display.
There was a silver Snitch resting on a shelf and he gaped. It was rare to ever find a silver Snitch. He took it off and examined it.
“Wicked,” he whispered to himself before someone had knocked into him, causing the Snitch to fly around.
“Oh, I’m really sorry! I was just trying to put away some brooms,” the young girl looked at Harry, who looked back.
Harry stared at her. She was beautiful. Her straight brown hair rested just below her shoulders, a braid cascading down her face. Her cinnamon colored eyes were warm and felt magnetic against his own emerald green. She had a sweet smile and freckles resting on her button nose. But she seemed so familiar.
“Oh Harry! I forgot to tell you...” Alice was about to continue when she had seen that Harry and Hermione had bumped into each other.
“Oh! Harry, Gilbert, Elizabeth...You remember Hermione from when you were all little right? She always came to your tournaments!” Alice nodded.
Harry’s eyes widened, turning to Hermione. Now he remembered. She was one of his best friends. The first girl he had ever kissed on a broom. She looked different from when she had bushy brown hair and buck teeth.
“Oh wow...Harry! It’s great to see you,” she smiled, flashing her white teeth. She hugged him tightly and pulled back slightly.
“What are you doing here? Last time I saw you, you said you were going to be a Healer,” Harry recalled.
“Oh, I’m still in training. I couldn’t find a place so your grandma let me stay in the apartment above the shop,” she explained.
“It’s great to see you,” he whispered, looking into her now shining eyes.
“You too. Sorry...I have to put these brooms away..,” Hermione mumbled, picking up the brooms she had dropped.
“Hey Hermione! After you’re done with that, why don’t you come out to breakfast with us? You’re after all, part of the family” James had called.
Hermione turned to them and then glanced at Harry who gave her a smile.
“I’d love to.”
Author’s Note: Whoo, this is a short chapter since I’m trying to remember the rest of the movie. =]
Chapter 2: Bouncy Quidditch
By Hermione Potter
“Breakfast buffet!” James called to the bar tender in the Leaky Cauldron. He raised an eyebrow.
“Oi, coming right up James!” and then he disappeared into the back. James sat down with his family and slung an arm around Lily’s shoulders. He smiled and nuzzled her hair before he turned to them.
“Since Elizabeth won the tournament last year, she’ll be choosing the first game. And let me take the time to refresh everyone on the rules. The night before the competition, the game will be revealed and you will not be able to prepare for it. Whoever wins will get to choose the next competition,” James explained. Everyone nodded in understanding.
Elizabeth smiled happily and looked at her father. “Well, you know the first competition will be later this afternoon, so I chose to play Bouncy Quidditch.”
Gilbert grinned and smirked at Harry who was gaping. “That’s not fair! Last year I was completely bad at it,” he sighed, leaning back against his chair and muttering under his breath.
Ginny pouted and gave him a kiss on the cheek, “You’ll win, you know it.”
Harry gave a small smile and turned to his breakfast which had just arrived. He looked at the runny eggs and stuck his fork in it, gulping it in his mouth.
Ginny made a face. “Do you know how much cholesterol is in that one egg?” she scowled, eating a piece of her grapefruit.
Harry rolled his eyes and glanced to the other end of the table. Hermione was sitting there, taking to his father. She was so different, and yet so the same. He remembered back to when they were only fourteen.
“Oh come on! You know it’s not that cold!” Hermione laughed, floating in the lake.
It was the start of summer and it was still chilly out, but Hermione had insisted on taking a swim. She had stripped down to her bra and underwear and just jumped in.
Harry on the other hand was a bit hesitant which was abnormal since he was the one that was always outgoing. But now, he didn’t want to get sick. “Hermione, just get out...I really need to go deliver the package...,”
“Oh stop being an arse. You have plenty of time. Just come in for a little bit. We’re both sweaty from hiking. I’d think you’d feel better if you came in,” Hermione frowned, splashing water at him.
He blushed and pulled his shirt over his head and pulled his cargo pants off, revealing white boxers with Snitches on them.
Hermione laughed and pointed at him. “Snazzy, don’t you think?” she winked, going under the water.
Harry smiled and jumped in, letting the water cool his body. He sunk to the bottom and quickly swam back to the surface to see Hermione gone. He turned around and shot back when he had seen that Hermione was face to face with him. “Don’t do that!”
She rolled her eyes and got out of the water, “You are such a baby.”
Harry looked at her and gulped. “Oh, I think we should get going now...,” he muttered, climbing out of the water. Hermione’s appearance in a bathing suit, which was a one-piece, left the mind not much to imagine.
She smiled and ran over to her bag to find a small cloth inside. She muttered a spell and watched as the cloth expanded into a towel. Drying herself off, she slipped back into her dry clothes and handed it to Harry.
As they both mounted the broom, Hermione noticed that Harry was avoiding eye contact with her. She frowned and looked off to the side. “Harry?”
“Yeah?” he murmured, kicking off and lifting high into the air.
She smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder. “Why won’t you look at me?” she asked, watching him blush.
“I would...It’s just I’m moving the broom,” he excused, gripping the broom stick so tight that his knuckles were turning white.
“Well stop it for a sec,” Hermione demanded. Harry halted the broom, leaving them hovered in the air.
She smiled, watching him turn around, but still avoid contact with her.
“Harry.” his name left her lips. He looked up at her.
“Hm?”
And then she landed a kiss on his lips and pulled back. “You just looked like you needed one,” she smiled, leaning her head on his back.
He sat there momentarily, surprised and frozen in place. She had kissed him. His first kiss.
A smile dawned on his face as he started the broom again and flew off.
“Harry!” Hermione’s voice rang in his ear as she tried to wake him from his dream land.
He turned to her and smiled. “Sorry, what were you saying?” he blinked.
She gave a frown of concern and shook her head. “Nothing....Everyone’s done eating and thought about heading back to the house,” she informed him, pointing to the rest of the family who were getting up.
Ginny, who was watching them at the time frowned. She got out from her seat and walked over, holding Harry’s arm. “Sweetums, we should hurry before we’re left behind,” she smiled, moving Hermione out of his vision.
He looked down at her and nodded. “Sure. Are you coming Hermione?” Ginny frowned at this. And Hermione noticed.
She looked at Harry and smiled. “No....I’ll be around sometime this afternoon to see you guys in action, okay?” He nodded in approval and watched as she walked out of the pub.
He looked down at Ginny, “Should we be heading off now?” he smiled, offering his arm.
Ginny smirked and looped her arm through his. “Of course.” And they departed.
“All right then. Your first match will be in a few hours. Now go to your rooms!” James grinned, pointing to the upstairs.
Harry and Ginny trudged up to his own room, closing the door behind them.
“Harry, I wanted to talk to you about something,” she pouted, cuddling up next to him as they sat on the bed.
He turned to see her looking adoringly at him. “Uh...what?”
Her eyes gleamed as she walked over to the drawer and pulled out a bag. “Oh I couldn’t resist Harry!” she sighed happily, holding the bag upside down and letting a handful of diamonds fall out.
Harry gaped. “Wh-What are you doing with those?” he asked completely bemused at the fact that his girlfriend had about seven diamonds.
“Well, I thought now would be the best time to pick out a diamond perfect for me! I mean since you invited me here and all...,” she blushed, looking at the glittery jewels.
What is she talking about? Harry thought as he jumped to conclusions.
“I thought this was the perfect time to pick out my engagement ring,” Ginny brightened up.
Harry sat there. Engagement? We’ve been going out for three months! “Uh..Ginny...we should save that for later, you know...some other time.” he tried to tell her.
Ginny frowned but then a thought struck her. He’s probably just waiting for the right moment. Oh how cute! “Well...I guess, if that’s what you’d like.”
He nodded. “It is.” And then he leaned back on the bed to rest a bit before the match.
“Okay mates, let’s go over the rules. This is like Quidditch, but without the brooms. You’ll be sitting on one of these,” James grinned, taking out a large rubber ball that was filled with air and had a handle on it. “You’ll be sitting on it trying to score goals in your opponents’ hoops. The first one to get three goals will win. Anything goes,” James nodded, throwing out three bouncing rubber balls.
Harry sighed and sat down on his ball, waiting for his father to let out the tiny wooden balls that he would be throwing through the hoops. He looked to his far right and saw Hermione waving happily. He smiled and waved back.
“AND GO!” Lily signaled, rolling the ball on the ground. Quickly, Gilbert and Harry started to go after it and quickly, Harry regretted that decision when his ball hurdled into Gilbert’s and they ended up being thrown back.
Elizabeth grinned and started going after the ball and grabbed it, hurdling it through Gilbert’s hoop. “ONE POINT FOR ME!” she shrieked, bouncing about.
Gilbert scowled and grabbed the ball. Seeing that Harry was still trying to get on his ball, he quickly went to Harry’s hoop and tossed it on. “And one for me,” he smirked.
Harry glared at him and took it up a notch. “I’m going to win this one,” he muttered to himself. Quickly, he grabbed the ball and bounced past Gilbert and Elizabeth. They quickly turned to follow him and Elizabeth had rammed right into his ball, knocking him off.
He growled and realized he had the ball in his hand and turned to see Elizabeth and Gilbert sharing a high-5. While they were doing that, he quickly tossed the ball into Gilbert’s hoop.
“Shoot,” Gilbert cursed as he watched Harry score. He quickly got back into play and grabbed the ball.
Back and forth the ball turned until they had all been tied with two points each. The next one would win.
Harry bit his lip as he watched his mum land the ball on the ground and quickly, he, Elizabeth, and Gilbert had tried to get the ball. Elizabeth had quickly slipped and fell off her ball, leaving it to Gilbert and Harry.
The two looked at one another before they sped, trying to get the ball. Gilbert had grabbed it and was heading toward Harry’s hoop, but one thing had gotten in his way.
There was an old dragon trap laying there. Gilbert had not seen it and bounced on it, causing a hole to erupt in his ball.
“Hey!” he yelped before he tumbled over, the ball landing on the ground swiftly.
Harry saw his chance and grabbed the ball, quickly bouncing over to the hoop and throwing it in. “YES!”
“And the game is over! Harry wins!” James announced. Ginny and Hermione had started to jump up and down happily.
“I demand a rematch! There was a trap here!” Gilbert scowled, breathing heavily.
James and Lily turned to conference with each other while Harry had been narrowing his eyes at Gilbert for even suggesting it.
A few moments later, James and Lily turned to them. “Since we had asked Gilbert to put that trap away 10 years ago, Harry wins!”
Harry jumped up, yelling his victory before he felt Ginny come to him and give him a kiss on the lips. “I knew you could do it!”
Gilbert was positively glowering as he realized he had lost to his little brother and began to kick the trap. “Stupid trap.”
And before he could pull his foot away, it had latched on to it and he screamed, falling back and fainting. (This supposing to be an amusing moment by the way)

Chapter 3: Who Knows Best
“Could I ask you guys something?” Serena, who was Gilbert’s wife and had arrived later that week with their two children and a young girl by the name of Rebecca to babysit.
The girls of the house (except Lily) were standing in the kitchen, lounging when the men were in the other room, “bonding”. If you could really call fawning over Quidditch bonding while they were yelling over if it was fair for the Bludger to come flying out of no where.
They looked at each other and then back at Serena. “Sure,” was the answer in unison.
“Do you find the men of the Potter family.....sensual?” she asked with an uneasy feeling. They looked at one another.
“Yeah, totally, of course, isn’t it obvious?” was what went around in a jumble.
Serena sighed and turned around to fix the fruit that she rested in the trophy. She thought it looked to ordinary and needed a bit of color and charisma. But before she could continue, Gilbert had found himself walking in and gazing at what she was doing.
“Serena? What do you think you’re doing? That’s the trophy,” he scolded.
“I thought it could use a little of decoration.” she replied with a loud voice.
“Trophies are meant to be won. Not put the fruit in,” he took the fruit out of the trophy and set it down. “It’s a trophy, Serena.” With that he walked out.
She frowned and huffed. Her husband had been such an arse the past few weeks. All she wanted was a little alone time and for him to just cuddle with her and maybe something else under the covers.
But he had been such a bother with trying to with the stupid Potter Cup that he had no time for her now. He was trying to “strategize” his way around to win.
“Snookums,” Ginny whined. She was in the guestroom with Harry in the bathroom. “I’m bored! Come in here so we can finally pick out a pretty diamond!” She was dressed in a little nightie that she bought from the largest lingerie store nearby and she hoped this would be a night he would do something. For once.
Harry yawned and ran his hand through his hair. He had been beaten and pulverized by his brother all evening and all he wanted to do was lie his head down on the pillow and sleep.
But that dream was a fantasy once he entered the bedroom and found Ginny on the bed, looking vulnerable and needy. He left that unnoticed and slid into bed, pulling the covers up to his chest. “Night Ginny,” he smiled, pecking her on the lips and turning on his side, immediately falling asleep.
Ginny huffed and shoved him hard which ended him up on the ground. He yelped and struggled to his knees.
“Godric, Ginny. What was that for?” he frowned, slowly standing up and rubbing his lower back side.
“You’re so not romantic. But besides that, you need to help pick out the diamond. After all you’re the one that’s giving it to me,” she told him.
A look of fear came across Harry’s face. He had never intended to marry Ginny. Even after spending a few days with her, it seemed strange. But maybe it was just him.
“Ginny, I’m tired. We’ll do it some other time. For now just let me sleep,” he sighed, giving her a long kiss that he hoped would earn him some sleep through the night.
She pouted and gave a giggle. “Fine Harry. You should rest up for the next round. I’ll be rooting more than ever now that you’ve won the first one,” she grinned. He gave a weak smile and cuddled into the bed, falling asleep immediately.
Ginny lay awake, playing with the bag of diamonds in her hand. Harry had been so distant for the past few days and she wished he would be close to her. She had tried every way possible to get him to even make some notion of making love with her. She even came close to renting a porn.
What made it worse was that that stupid girl they had run into the other day. Herminnie or something like that. What a stupid name for someone was what she had originally thought. And still thought. Maybe it was because they were old friends. She didn’t mean that much to Harry from the way he never spoke one ounce of her through their relationship.
The next day Ginny had decided to go shopping at the mall for shoes. Something Harry didn’t want to spend the day doing. He told the family he would be around the time, visiting some of the old stores.
But that morning he had decided to wake up early, trying not to disturb Ginny as he got dressed in sweats. He had wanted to keep in shape for Quidditch and thought jogging would do him some good.
While he ran down the pathway near the neighborhood, he found someone running near. He smiled, seeing the familiar bushy hair which of course was of Hermione. He quickly and easily caught up, running beside her.
She turned to see him and stopped, panting and wiping her forehead. “Harry, I didn’t know you jogged,” she chuckled, taking out a water bottle and taking a large gulp. She offered him some which he gratefully accepted.
“I’ve always been jogging. How about you?” he grinned, pouring water on his face. She began to stretch a bit and yawned. “Pretty much since I moved back here. I reckon you’re just doing this to buff up for Quidditch, right?” she smirked.
“Ah, you know me. Sports buff. Hey, are you coming later today?” he asked, a little hope in his voice.
“You know I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I’ve been to every one of them for a while. I like being part of the Potter family. It’s nice. Since I haven’t really seen much of my family. It’s nice to have somewhat of one,” she explained, pulling off her jacket and tying it around her waist.
He tried to ignore the fact that her skin looked so soft and glistened from her sweat that gleamed in the sun. It was a beautiful color of tan and he wanted nothing but to run his hands down her arms.
Harry shook his head and found Hermione looking at him with an odd look. “Sorry. Have you had breakfast yet? I mean, you could come back to the house and have some with us,” he asked.
She bit her lip and sighed. She would love nothing more than to do that. Since she was a little girl she always thought she’d end up marrying a Potter. And she thought it would be Harry, but that was a forgotten dream. Besides that, Ginny had been claiming Harry like a cheetah protecting her cubs.
“I probably couldn’t make it. I have to open the shop in 15 minutes,” she made a lame excuse.
She had missed how deflated his facial expression had gotten. “All right, I’ll see you at 4 then, right?” he brightened at that. She gave him a smile and nodded. “I won’t miss it. See you,” she waved, before she started to jog in the other direction.
Harry watched her running and smiled. “See you,” but he know she couldn’t hear him. For some unknown reason, he couldn’t wait till that afternoon. And then he ran.
Through the Potter household, there were two people who were in their room. The man sleeping deeply. The woman walking into the room with a glass of water. She frowned and watched his breaths come out and go back in. She shook her head and nudged him. “James...”
He only moved a bit and then began snoring. She huffed and nudged him harder, earning a swat. “Well I never,” she pouted, shoving hard this time.
James woke from his sleep and looked around. “Oh..Lily...What is it?” he asked, rubbing the kip sleep from his eyes.
“Oh James, you’re no fun,” she sat there, her back to him. He raised an eyebrow and placed his glasses on.
“Lily, what’s wrong?” he crawled behind her and wrapped his arms over hers, lessening the grip.
She sighed. “You never want to...you know..be spontaneous in that way,” she hinted, hoping he would understand no matter how thick-headed he was.
He blinked. “That way? Whaddya mean Lils?” and yet he was. Lily leaned into him and sighed. “You know....have blankie time,” she hinted once again. He raised an eyebrow.
And realized it.
“Oh, Lily..,” he smiled, nuzzling his nose against the crook of her neck. “You know, I just got some more pills,” he cooed.
She smiled and giggled as he pulled her into bed. “Oh James....,” she swooned, earning a kiss from James.
“Okay guys. Today was Harry’s pick and it’s called, Who Knows Best. The objective of the game is to answer as many questions about the family as well as you can correctly. The one who answers the most, wins.” James said, standing in front of Harry, Gilbert, and Elizabeth.
Lily and Serena, who was keeping score sat between Hermione and Ginny.
“First question. Who at age 8 wet their pants in the middle of show and tell?”
“Me,” Harry answer easily. Gilbert snickered, even though he had not gotten that answer.
“Correct! Who fell into the barrel at the Farmer’s Market?”
“GILBERT!” Elizabeth shouted excitedly.
“Correct. Why did Elizabeth at come home that one night with chili on her dres?”
“Because her boyfriend spilled it on her when he was drunk.” Gilbert smirked. Elizabeth huffed. “I wanted to forget that you know.”
“Right. When they were five, who accidently caught themself in a log and rolled down the hill?”
“Harry,” Gilbert laughed loudly. Harry remained unfazed.
“Right. Who at birth had 12 toes?”
Harry, Gilbert, and Elizabeth stood confused. But Harry knew it was him.
“Okay, go ahead. Laugh at me. We all know it’s me,” he turned away, looking in the other direction.
“Actually, you’re wrong. Gilbert had 12 toes at birth,” James said honestly.
Everyone besides James and Lily looked at him. “Wh-Wait. What? How? Why didn’t you ever tell me?” Gilbert asked.
“We thought we’d wait till you were older...,” Lily told him, nodding.
Gilbert gaped at them. “I’m 33-years-old! Don’t you think I would have found out at some point? Like when I’m dead?” he said, running his hand through his hair.
“Okay, people! Are we going to continue or not? We’ll discuss this later.” Lily announced, motioning for James to continue.
“All right.”
Twenty minutes later, Elizabeth was in last place. And Gilbert along with Harry were tied.
“Next question. Who at the age of 10 ran around naked in front of the neighbors?” James asked.
“Harry,” Gilbert eyed him and smirked when James announced him as winner. Harry sighed and walked into the house.
This was not going to bring him down. He only lost this one. But Gilbert would be choosing the game tomorrow and he knew that he would choose a game that was hard for Harry.
Ginny ran in and pouted. “Oh Harry, you should have won that one!” she squeaked, throwing her arms around his waist. “How about we go into town and do a little shopping. I’ll even buy you a few things. Maybe a tux,” she grinned.
He shook his head. “Maybe later Ginny. I just wanna take a shower, okay?” she frowned a bit but brushed it aside. “Okay. I’ll be downtown anyways. I’ll pick up something for the family,” she blew him a kiss and disappeared.
Harry was about to go upstairs when the door opened. He turned around and saw Hermione standing there. “Oh. Hey,” he gave a smile.
She smiled back and pointed at the fridge. “Just passing through. You mum said I could get something to drink.”
“Kay.”
“Sorry about the loss though. You did really well,” she tried to cheer him up. He gave a dazzling smile and nodded.
“Thanks. I’m sure I’ll do better next time.”
“I’ll be cheering you on,” she winked, walking out.
Somehow that sounded much better when Hermione said it rather than Ginny.
Author’s Note: Sorry I haven’t been around. I would like to make an apology for some mistakes I have made in the story. Gilbert’s wife’s name is Susan, not Serena. I had forgotten that I had mentioned her. And the babysitter’s name is Erica, not Rebecca.

Chapter 4: It’s A Girl!
“And today’s game is Mosaic Pictures. Object of the game is to look at the pictures in the book and decipher what the image is! The first to guess 5 right wins this one.” James announced while everyone was gathered in the dining room. Gilbert, Elizabeth, and Harry each had a thick book which was filled with images that made up bigger images.
Harry quickly looked at everyone who was watched and saw Hermione sitting patiently, watching with a smile on her lips. But his short spree of glee disappeared when he discovered his girlfriend with her fists in the air impatiently rooting him on.
“Ready, set, GO!” James announced as Lily took out the answer key for each page.
The three quickly set off to win this one.
Harry turned the pages and began to see what it was.
Well, there’s a beak....and white feathers....His eyes widened. “Page 5! It’s a hen!”
“Right! Point to Harry.”
Hermione clapped happily for him and smiled victoriously at him. He smiled back at her and gave him a thumbs up. From then on the competition grew fierce.
“Page 34, Tulip!” Gilbert cried out.
“Point to Gilbert.”
“Page 15, cherry pie!” Elizabeth answered.
“Point.”
“Page 25, cookies!” Harry called out.
“Wrong.”
Harry began to grow irritated as the game went on. Every time he had tried to get a point, Gilbert had turned to the exact page and got the photo easily. It was really starting to piss the hell out of him.
Fifteen minutes in the game, Elizabeth was in last place. Harry was in the lead. And Gilbert was second. Just one more photo and Harry would win!
“Page 32. Scrambled eggs,” Gilbert quickly said, hoping to catch up to Harry. He wasn’g going to let his little brother show him up again.
“Point.”
“PAGE 28, LEOPARD!” Harry called out. He looked at his father intently and his breath caught in his throat, waiting for his mother’s verdict.
“Looks like we have ourselves a winner! Harry has one the Mosaics!” Lily announced, clapping.
“Way to go!” James smiled, clapping his hand on his son’s back. He knew that with just enough of a push that Harry would go far. He just needed a boost of confidence.
“How is this even possible? I mean I would have won at least one game by now!” Elizabeth loathed, throwing down the book and stomping up to her room, slamming the door where everyone could hear it.
Everyone looked at one another before Gilbert shot up and accused Harry, “You so cheated!”
“I did not. Just because I’m smarter than you doesn’t mean that I cheated. You’re just too dim to realize that I won and you lost! To me.” Harry smirked with victory, his arms crossed over his chest. Gilbert growled lowly and turned to his parents. “I’ll be on a walk. SUSAN, TELL ERICA TO LOOK AFTER THE KIDS!” Gilbert shouted loudly before he walked out of room and out.
“Oh Harry! You did it!” Ginny squealed, swinging her arms around his neck and suffocating him. He smiled and looked down at her. “Thanks for cheering me on.” he said sincerely.
She giggled and shook her head. “Oh Harry, it was all you.”
She let her arms fall and her eyes sparkled. “I’m going to go into town and do some shopping. And I’ll pick you up a nice surprise.” He nodded with a relieved sigh and turned to see that he was the only one in the room. “Hey, where did everyone go?”
“We’re in the kitchen, sweetheart. Come have something sweet to eat,” Lily called lovingly.
He made his way through into the kitchen and saw James, Lily, Grandmum Alice, Grandpa David, and Hermione sitting at the kitchen table munching on caramelized popcorn. He took a seat beside Hermione and let them continue their conversation while he began eating himself.
“Oh Hermione, you know you’d make a lovely Healer. You were such a good and prominent student at Hogwarts. I’m surprised that you didn’t have every organization in the world begging you to help them promote,” Alice chuckled, watching the young girl’s cheeks turn a shade of bright pink.
“Oh please, Alice. I’m sure that not every one of them would be,” she replied teasingly, a bit of embarrassment tinted on her voice. They all rolled their eyes and chuckled. They knew that Hermione would make it far in life.
“Hermione, have I ever spoke to you about how lovely you look these days? Not that you weren’t blossoming before. But you’re radiant these days,” Lily said adoringly, running a hand down Hermione’s face.
“Thank you. But you really don’t need to be doing this. I’m getting really embarrassed,” she smiled.
“Aye, if I was just a few years younger, I’d consider dating you,” James let out a heart laugh, earning a smack from Lily. “Am I right or what Harry?” Everyone turned to look at him expectantly. Including Hermione.
“Uh...I...Yeah..I mean...any guy would be lucky to date her,” he turned away from their burning eyes. Hermione frowned a bit and turned to the others. “I should really get back to the shop. I’m sure that there are customers wondering why there isn’t anyone there,” she forced a smile.
“Oh Hermione, take a break. You’re always working. You need a few days off. And if you do not, I will forbid you from working till the Potter Cup is over. You got that?” Alice demanded.
Hermione sighed and nodded. But I should get back. I told Mr. Addamsbee that I’d help him pick out a gift for his wife. But I’ll be back tonight for the next game. Around six is all right?”
“Absolutely. We’ll see you tonight then sweetheart. Take care,” Alice gave a friendly smile.
“Here’ I’ll show you to the door,” Lily suggested, getting up from her seat.
“Aye. Whaddya say to a game of Quidditch?” David grinned, getting up.
“You wouldn’t last a minute, old man.” James challenged.
“Hey, you got those Qudditch genes from me. We’ll see who wouldn’t last a minute,” David replied, summoning his broom. “Are you coming Harry?” he asked his grandson.
“You know I wouldn’t turn down a game,” he grinned before getting up and following them out into the backyard.
After the men had filed into the backyard, Lily had come back into the room and sat beside her mother-in-law. “I’m sure that you’ve been dying to say that you can not stand that girl,” Alice started, folding her hands.
“Hermione?”
“Of course not. I adore that girl. I’m talking about that woman Harry brought here with him. You know I always wanted Hermione as a granddaughter. I always figured she’d end up with Harry,” Alice explained, a sigh escaping her lips.
“We all can’t have our wishes come true. But I do agree with you,” Lily said, a sparkle in the corner of her eye.
“That night the same number of people were gathered into the living room of the Potter home. Gilbert, Harry, and Elizabeth sat on the floor in front of the coffee table, a Monopoly game board in the middle of the table. The rules of the game were obvious.
“Now you all know the drill. We played this game a lot. So whoever wins, wins this round.” James explained.
“Whoever rolls highest number goes first,” Lily instructed, taking out a dice.
Elizabeth: 5
Gilbert: 2
Harry: 4
Gilbert sighed and watched as Elizabeth and Harry made their moves.
An hour later, Gilbert was in the lead and had earned a lot of property. Harry and Elizabeth were tied for second and everyone was silent as they watched the game. Ginny was bending over the table and watching like a hawk. Making sure no one would cheat.
Hermione sat behind her, a cup of hot cocoa in her hands. She rolled her eyes at Ginny and leaned back against the armchair, sipping quietly.
The silence was broken when the door bell rang. “I’ll get it. But who could that be?” Lily questioned rhetorically, walking to the entrance and opening the door. The others continued to play, wanted to win the Potter Cup. A bit of chatter could be heard from the other room but no one bothered to listen.
Then Lily entered the room, a young woman behind her. Everyone turned to look. The woman had soft blonde curls cascading down her shoulders, bright blue eyes that shined and she was dressed warmly in an overcoat and a hat.
“Elizabeth sweetheart, there’s someone here to see you,” Lily said softly. Elizabeth looked at the girl confused. “Do I know you?”
“Well, no. We met briefly. But do you remember a man named Matthew Pearson?” she questioned softly. Elizabeth nodded. “I dated him for a bit. How did you know that?”
“You gave birth to a girl about two years into the relationship....,” she trailed off.
“And I gave her up for adoption. If you are here to question me about the pa-,” But she was cut off by the woman’s next statement.
“I’m your daughter.”

As well as rehearsing for my school’s production of Grease. =] Woo, I’m Jan if any of you are wondering. Hehe.
P.S. Review please! I’d be deeply grateful and plus, I’ll write more. =]
