Somewhere Over The Quidditch Pitch Disclaimer: Don't own any Harry Potter or Wizard of Oz story or characters. A/N: Another random story from me. I just have all these ideas in my head heheeh. If you haven't seen the Wizard of Oz then you probably won't understand this story. Go rent the movie if you haven't because it is a classic! Somewhere Over The Quidditch Pitch Ginny Weasley made her way down to the Quidditch Pitch with a feeling of contentment. She had finished all her homework and had decided to get in some Quidditch practise for the upcoming match against Ravenclaw. Her feeling of euphoria lasted until she saw a glint of pale blonde flash in the sun. ”Just great,” she muttered. Only one person had hair that particular colour: Draco Malfoy, the royal pain in the butt who loved to taunt her. For a minute Ginny thought of turning back and just doing something else, but her boldness kicked through. With a steely glint in her eyes, she clambered on her broom and rocketed into the air. If Draco didn't like sharing the pitch with a Weasley, he could leave; Ginny was not going to run away like a frightened mouse because she had to fly with a Slytherin. In any case his goons weren't here, so she couldn't possibly see what he could do anyway. Ginny had only been flying for a minute when she saw Draco speeding towards her looking slightly annoyed. ”What are you doing here, Weasley?” he said scathingly. Ginny wondered how no matter what Draco said it always came out rude, mean, or sarcastic. ”I'm allowed on the pitch just as much as you, Malfoy!” Ginny retorted. Ginny smiled satisfactorily as words seem to fail Draco. Indeed, it looked as though his face had just frozen with anger… Actually, his whole body seemed to have frozen. ”Um, Malfoy?” Ginny began but broke off as quite suddenly Draco Malfoy turned into a dog. Not just any dog either. It was the cutest, most adorable little dog she had ever seen, with silky fur the same colour as his pale blonde hair and big gray eyes that peeped through the fluffy fur. It was then that she realised Draco-the-dog was falling. After all, dogs can't fly broomsticks, even in the magical world. Quickly, Ginny dived down and caught the little dog-Draco in her arms, letting out a sigh of relief. The last thing she wanted to see was dog squashed all over the Quidditch Pitch…even if it was Draco Malfoy. As soon as they landed on the ground Draco rounded on her, little fluffy paws and all. ”What did you do to me?” Draco demanded. It was strange to hear his voice coming from such a cute little dog. ”I didn't do anything,” Ginny snapped angrily. “You must have turned yourself into a dog.” ”And why would I do that?” Draco asked in a menacing tone. If he wasn't so harmless looking, Ginny might have been scared. ”How would I know what you take into your fancy to do?” Ginny said offhandedly. Whatever Draco was about to say back was cut off as a rather large gust of wind started coming towards them. It looked a lot like a tornado… ”I think we'd better go take cover!” Ginny muttered before sprinting as fast as she could towards the Quidditch changing rooms. Draco skidded slightly as he raced into the room and glared at her. ”Well, shut the damn door! Do you want to get sucked out?” he said frustrated. Ginny quickly bolted door. ”Now what?” she asked hesitantly. ”I guess we wait,” Draco sighed as he collapsed down on the ground and scratched his floppy ear. ”Why would a tornado be around here?” she asked confused. “We never get those.” Draco snorted. “You do realise that wizards can cause tornadoes, right?” ”I know that,” Ginny snapped, scowling. “But why did no one do anything to stop it?” Draco shrugged. “I don't know but-“ He broke off as the walls started rattling with a sudden ferocity. It seemed the tornado had come upon them. ”Look out!” Draco cried as the door flew open. The whole changing room started to rise into the air, and Ginny knew that they had been sucked into the tornado. She looked around wildly for Draco but couldn't see him. Horrified, she wondered if he had been sucked out the door. Just as she stood up to move and get into a safer position, one of the metal pipes came crashing down and hit her hard in the head. Dizzily she saw the room fading in and out until she fell unconscious. OOOOOOOO ”Weasley,” a muffled voice said in concern. “Weasley, wake up!” Ginny opened her eyes groggily and groaned as a sharp pain shot through her head. She gingerly sat up off the hard floor and saw Draco staring at her, his tail waggling slightly. ”What happened?” she asked confused. ”You got knocked out,” Draco said matter-of-factly. ”Oh.” Ginny looked around and briefly wondered how the door had managed to shut itself. Shaking her head slightly, she walked towards the door and pushed. It didn't open. ”We're stuck.” Draco sighed. ”No, we're not!” Ginny said firmly as she gave the door a hard kick. The door flew open, and Ginny grinned at Draco. “See.” Draco rolled his eyes and trotted through the door, just to stop all of a sudden. He turned his head and stared at Ginny in amazement. “You'd better come look at this,” he said seriously. Ginny walked through the door and stared in shock at the colourful little village they seemed to be in. There were two spiralling paths, one yellow and one red, going off in different directions. What struck Ginny though was the fact that all the houses seemed to be very small. So small that no human could fit in them, that's for sure. Maybe they were goblin houses? ”Where are we?” Draco muttered as he walked towards a bush with flowers he had never seen before. Ginny swore she heard the bush giggle and frowned to herself. This place was really weird. ”Oi, what are you doing sniffing my bush!” a voice squeaked grumpily at Draco. Draco recoiled in shock as a man came out from the bush wearing a flower hat and strange clothes. Oddly enough, he looked exactly like Professor Flitwick. ”You new here?” the Flitwick look-alike asked suspiciously. Ginny and Draco nodded. ”Yeah. Where are we?” Ginny asked. ”Munchkin land, of course.” ”Oh,” Ginny said slowly. She stared at Draco and could tell by his expression that he had never heard of this Munchkin land either. ”What are you?” Draco asked rudely. ”I'm a munchkin,” the munchkin replied with a dignified expression. “And my name is Eckelburt.” ”Well, Eckelburt, do you know how we can get back home? We live at Hogwarts.” Ginny asked politely. ”Haven't heard of no Hogwarts, but the Wizard of Oz might be able to help you.” ”Wizard of Oz?” Draco repeated. “I've never heard of the wizard of Oz. Where is this Oz?” ”Oz, my furry friend, is where you are. Oz is our world.” Suddenly another munchkin came bounding over. Ginny hazarded that this one was a girl, though for some reason this one looked like Flickwick too. The only difference was the floral dress she was wearing. ”Eckelburt!” the munchkin puffed. “The Wicked Witch of the East has been killed. Look!” she said pointing to the Quidditch changing rooms. Eckelburt and the girl munchkin waddled over towards the changing rooms with Ginny and Draco following close behind. ”You see?” the munchkin said in a hushed voice. “She's wearing the ruby slippers.” Ginny stared, and sure enough she saw some legs sticking out from under the changing rooms. The feet were encased in some sparkling ruby coloured shoes, which must be the ruby slippers the munchkin was talking about. ”But this is wonderful!” Eckelburt cried jubilantly. “We're finally free!” ”Ding dong, the witch is dead,” Draco muttered. “Look, we really don't care about all this. We just want to go home.” Eckelburt frowned. “Why don't you ask the witch from the North to help you?” ”Okay, but how do we do that?” Ginny asked. ”Is that a giant bubble?” Draco said curiously, as he pointed his paw to what was unmistakably a giant pink bubble. ”Looks like she must have sensed you need her help,” Eckelburt said knowingly and smiled as the bubble turned into a woman wearing a large puffy pink dress. The woman looked remarkably like Professor McGonagall. It was now no wonder why McGonagall only wore green and tartan. She looked positively horrid in pink. ”You called?” she asked in her no-nonsense voice. ”Um, yes.” Ginny said, unable to keep the awe out of her voice. Even in the wizarding world, it wasn't everyday you saw a bubble turn into a person. “We were wondering if you could help us get home. We live at Hogwarts.” The Witch from the North frowned. “I don't know where you are talking about, sorry. But perhaps the Wizard of Oz can help you.” ”So we've heard,” Draco said grumpily. “Look, bubble lady, just tell us how to find this Oz guy so we can hurry up and leave.” The Witch from the North raised her eyebrow at Draco and pointed at the yellow brick path. “That path will lead you to the Emerald City where the Wizard of Oz resides. He is the greatest wizard of all time.” ”Sounds like that old kook Dumbledore,” Draco mumbled to Ginny. Ginny couldn't help the smile that came to her face but suppressed it at the witch's hawk-like stare. Really, she was so much like McGonagall. ”Well, I guess we'll be on our way then,” Ginny said quickly and started following the yellow path, Draco trailing behind her. As Ginny and Draco started heading towards the exit of the strange Munchkin land, they saw even more Flitwick look-alikes popping up to see them off. It was quite frightening to see a village of Flitwicks, like some creepy clone town. ”Good luck!” Eckelburt called out as he waved. Suddenly a cloud of red smoke appeared, and a woman came coughing from out of the smoke. She was wearing all black and a pointed witch's hat. Her toad-like face surveyed the village, coming to rest on Ginny. Ginny thought her face was slightly familiar but couldn't quite place it. ”A-ha!” she cried triumphantly. “You, you were the one who killed my sister.” ”I don't know what you're talking about,” Ginny said firmly. The woman glared at Ginny, and suddenly Ginny remembered where she had seen this woman. It was Umbridge, without a doubt. Her toad-like face was unmistakable, and because for some strange reason her skin was green, she looked even more like a toad. The Umbridge woman walked over to her sister's legs and tried to pull off the ruby slippers, but her legs vanished. With a shriek, she turned towards Ginny and stared at her feet. ”I knew it! You did kill her!” Ginny stared down at her feet and gaped at the ruby slippers, which had somehow replaced her sneakers. They clashed horribly with her shorts and t-shirt, but there was not much she could do about that. ”Looks like they found a new owner, Wicked Witch of the West,” the Witch from the North said with a satisfied smile. ”What's with the directions as names?” Draco muttered. ”Hmph, well, I'll just get those slippers off her then,” the Wicked Witch of the West said nastily. She tried to use her magic on Ginny, only nothing happened. ”What?” she muttered. ”Your magic won't work,” the Witch from the North said with a superior smirk. The Wicked Witch from the West scowled. “There'll be a way to get those slippers, and when I find it, I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!” The witch vanished in a puff of red smoke, and Ginny stared at the Witch from the North. “What do we do now?” ”Go to the Wizard of Oz. He will help you. The West Witch will do everything in her power to stop you, but do not worry. If you are strong and stay true to your path, you will get back home.” Ginny nodded and looked at Draco. “Well, let's go then.” ”Right,” Draco agreed, and together they walked along the yellow path to the farming fields in the distance. What adventures awaited them in this strange place of Oz they did not know, but they were sure to find out soon. A/N: So, what do you think of Draco as Toto, ahahha. Please Review ^_^
