Curse A Different Kind of Fairytale Rating: PG13, just to be safe ** This is a little side project to tide you all over until I get the first chapter of my Harry/Hermione fanfiction up (PJ, I now have a tentative title, The Letter that Never Came). Keep watching for it! A little more information…A Different Kind of Fairytale is a series of fifty one-shots with fairytale themes. The themes for this fanfiction were taken from The Fairytale Themes Drabbles Challenge from SMfanfiction.net, a Sailor Moon fanfiction website. One final note: thank you so much to those who reviewed Something to Live For. Your reviews were just lovely and they made me happier than you could possibly imagine. Thank you again! ~ Seraphina ** Theme Number 7: Curse The battle between Dumbledore's Army and Death Eaters was raging, with Harry and Hermione frantically dodging curses and firing back. “Harry! Watch out!” Hermione cried in fear as she watched a Death Eater aim his wand at Harry. Harry spun around to face his attacker. “Stupefy!” he shouted. The spell hit the Death Eater, sending him flying into a wall with loud thud. “Thanks Hermione,” Harry breathed, taking a moment to smile gratefully at his best friend. She grinned in return. “No prob- Oh!” Hermione's face changed from a beautiful grin to a look of surprise as a flame of purple light hit her squarely in the chest. Harry watched in frozen horror. Everything began to move in slow motion. Hermione fell to her knees and then crumpled to the floor in a heap, lying still as death. “HERMIONE!” Harry ran over to her limp body, falling down beside her. Please no, not her! Not Hermione! Please God not Hermione! I can't lose her! He grasped her hand tightly in his own, holding back a cry of agony. It's my fault if she's dead. ** So, as you could probably tell, “Curse” was my own little spin on the battle at the Ministry in Order of the Phoenix. I'm not exactly thrilled with it at the moment. It just needs…something, but I can't quite figure out what. Ah, well. Expect to see some changes to this one. More drabbles are on the way, so stay tuned. ^_^ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Mirror, Mirror on the Wall Hello everyone! Here's the second theme of the ADKF series. Hope you enjoy it. Oh, I have a little favor to ask you all. Please don't write anything about DH in the reviews that you post. I haven't read it yet and I really don't want it to be spoiled. This has already happened a couple of times and I just don't want to find out any more than I already know. Thanks! ~Seraphina ** Theme Number 12: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall Harry could not believe his eyes, for there right before him was the Mirror of Erised. “I thought Dumbledore got rid of this, years ago…” Harry whispered, tracing his fingers along the carvings of the wooden frame. The mirror looked just the same as it had when he'd stumbled across it during his first year at Hogwarts. He smiled as he thought back on the memories. It was hard to believe that nearly seven years had passed since then. Seven years and finally he and the rest of the wizarding world were free of the evil power of Lord Voldemort. Harry could finally live in peace. He turned his attention back to the mirror, moving to stand before it. He stood motionless and waited, fully expecting to himself standing between his mother and father. When he saw what now appeared beside him in the glass, he could barely believe his eyes. His best friend, Hermione Granger, the girl he had secretly loved since sixth year, stood at Harry's side. A movement in the glass caught his eye and Harry looked to see a tiny baby girl resting in Hermione's arms. The baby had dark brown curls and piercing green eyes and was smiling playfully at Harry, reaching an arm out towards him. Hermione looked from the child to Harry and smiled more happily than Harry could ever remember seeing. “A family…” he breathed, awestruck. Then, the mirror and everything around it, including Harry himself, began to disappear in a silvery mist. Harry sensed his surroundings growing darker and darker, until suddenly-his eyes snapped open. He sat up and stared into the darkness of the bedroom at Grimmauld Place, confused, trying to remember what had just happened. He'd been dreaming, he finally realized. Dreaming of the Mirror of Erised, the mirror that showed his most precious desire. Hermione's face appeared once again in his mind, followed by the face of the baby. Harry grinned in the darkness. “A family of my very own…” he whispered.
