Chapter 17
Hermione was lying in her bed, sleeping. A figure slipped into the bedroom without making a sound at all. He slowly placed a cloth over her nose, Hermione’s eyes fluttered opened but drifted back close as the potion did its job. The figure smiled slightly as they lifted Hermione into their arms and slip back out the door with out waking anyone else up at all.
Lavender woke up the next morning and looked toward Hermione’s bed, she noticed that she wasn’t in it and chuckled lightly, knowing how well Hermione liked to be up early in the morning. She went into the bathroom but was puzzled slightly, the shower was dry and there was no dirty laundry let alone Hermione’s night clothes, she knew that Hermione always took a shower before heading to the library and she looked around but couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, with a feeling of dread she walked back into the bedroom and crossed over to Hermione’s bed, she looked at it and noticed that it wasn’t made and something white caught her eyes, she bent down and picked up the cloth, she gently sniffed it and the dread turned to panic, Hermione was taken!
Lavender shook Parvati awake.
“Wha’s the matter?” Parvati muttered.
“It’s Hermione, she’s been kidnapped!” Lavender cried as she shook the cloth in front of Parvati, Parvati sniffed it and gasped as the scent hit her. Both girls scrambled to pull their robes on and they hurried toward the boys’ dormitory, they banged on the door, resulting Harry, Ron, Dean, Neville and Seamus falling out of their beds.
“What the hell?” Dean asked as he rubbed the side of his head. Harry had gotten up and opened the door to see the two girls scared of out their wits.
“What is it?” Harry demanded, his instincts on alert.
“It’s Hermione! She had been kidnapped!” Lavender squealed. All four boys looked at each other stunned then back at Harry who was leaning against the doorway in a stunned shock, he had lost all function of his body and had to lean on the door so his brain could process what Lavender had told him.
Hermione was gone.
Dumbledore was pacing the great hall; everyone was in the great hall because the teachers wanted to make sure that everyone was still there and to see if anyone saw Hermione before she was taken.
The teachers was feeling helpless, they had no idea what to do and that scared them a lot.
Harry was sitting at the table, looking at Hermione’s seat with a lost longing look in his eyes, never in anyone’s life they had ever seen anyone looking more lost than he did and the fact that he seems to be lost scared them even more, this was Harry Potter, the boy who lived, and he was utterly lost, they were scared because every year when something went wrong, they could count on him to make it right, now they are not sure anymore, especially with Hermione missing.
Ron was furious, he was trying to comfort Harry but it wasn’t working and he knew that Harry was feeling lost and scared, he hated seeing his best friend like this and remembered Harry and Hermione’s conversation.
“You are the one that keeps me going, you keep me balance.”
“What are we going to do?” Snape asked Dumbledore and for the first time Dumbledore was actually loss at what to do, he had no idea where to start, all he could think that one of his favourite pupil, someone he thought of a granddaughter had been taken away from them and not for the first time, he was letting his emotions shine through.
“I don’t know, I really don’t know.” Dumbledore said with a crack in his voice. McGonagall looked at him with understanding as she placed a hand on his arm to comfort him. She felt the same, she felt that her granddaughter had been taken away from her and she wanted Hermione back.
“Excuse me Mr. Dumbledore,” a small voice squeaked and Dumbledore looked down and saw Dobby.
“Yes Dobby?” Dumbledore asked.
“Mister Krum is not in his room, all the elves can’t find him and his clothes are gone, we believe that he had left over night.” Dobby reported and the teachers were stunned.
There it was, the link. Krum had taken Hermione with him. Dumbledore nodded and Dobby disappeared with a crack.
All the teachers looked at each other then at Harry, wondering what to tell him. They knew that Harry had swore to Hermione that he would protect her, even though he couldn’t have known this was going to happen, they knew that this was going to push him over the edge and start blaming himself then god knows what he’ll do next.
Ron noticed that the teachers were looking stunned.
“Harry, I think they know something.” Rom muttered and Harry looked up at the teachers, sure enough, Dumbledore stepped forward.
“Students, I have received news from one of our staff. Viktor Krum had apparently left over night and due with the fact that Miss Granger is missing, we are led to believe that he might have taken her with him.” Dumbledore said. There was a mummer as everyone started talking to each other.
Harry was stunned to his core; he broke his promise to Hermione. It kept ringing in his head, which caused him to lose it. Harry stood up and strode out of the Great Hall and slammed the door behind him.
Everyone watched while the teachers looked on with sadness in their eyes toward Harry, their suspicious was right. Harry was blaming himself.
