A/N: I am done with HP&Crossing of Fate, however, it is being betaed. In the mean time, enjoy this clip of my new story, the continuation of CoF, from Hermione's point of view.
Prologue:
The sweet sounds of the sea crashing gently upon the rocks only added to the beauty of the scenery. The beach appeared to stretch on for miles to the north, but was cut off by a large cliff to the south. A magnificent forest filled with the most beautiful foliage anyone had ever laid their eyes upon resided. Bright purple and deep blue-green leaves covered the palm trees only added to the picturesque view of the beach.
A young woman awoke from her slumber at the white waves crashing along her feet. Her slumber had been anything but peaceful, evident by her bloodshot eyes. Where they from tears or not and outside would be unable to tell. She wore a school uniform of sorts, a black skirt that reached her knees and a white blouse with a red and gold tie. Her hair was a soft brown, lightened by the morning sun. Her chocolate eyes opened slowly as she took in the scenery. Her hand stayed clasped upon a blue pendant around her neck. She bit her lip in confusion at the world around her. She did not have the look of a native, nor the knowledge to understand the things to follow her. But her friends, or her memories told her otherwise. She was always a quick study and it would be easy to suspect that she would understand what had come to pass.
The old man watching her stepped back, rubbing his eyes. He had long given up on ending all of this. Lavos had not been defeated in the Home World as some liked to call it. Yet the knowledge to defeat him lay in Another World. He did not understand how it came to pass as Schala had long passed her pendant into the sea, where it was to lay to rest as her love sought after her in the Home World where she was rumored to hide. Many had crossed over when they should not have, and soon, the world would be in for a change, both of the worlds.
He was watching this young girl with such a curiosity. She reminded him of a young woman, one with such a spirit in her, from close to a thousand years before. Albeit that young woman was blond, but from watching her, the old man deducted that this young woman was close to the same. He wondered if He would ever show up, as he had done a thousand years ago. Though as a man walked into the picture, he knew it was not the one he was looking for, despite the red head of hair.
The man that walked in had too much pride, looked too boastful of himself and as he picked up the young woman. She had a look of fright upon her face as the man did so, and fell out of his hands, running down the beach. As much as Gasper wished to help, there was nothing he could do but watch.
The woman ran toward the south, toward the cliff. She appeared to be deadly afraid of the man chasing her, but from his knowledge of the Home World, the two in fact were close friends. Maybe the other friend was the one he was looking for. Gasper stood in though as he watched the scene unfold.
The woman ran up to the cliff and fell to her knees before a gravestone that was freshly cleaned, though the grave was old. He felt something grow within his heart, a pain that showed he was thankfully still alive. He did not want her to go through this, and as much as he wanted to, knew he would be unable to bring HIM to her alone. HE would have to be the one to do so, and the pendant was the only way to do it, or so Gasper thought.
Another man appeared, and Gasper held back a smile. This man was the father of the boy whose grave this young woman was crying over, if any man kinder than him, Gasper had yet to see him.
The man was tall, had a head full of unruly hair. His sea blue eyes were held back by a set of glasses and his face hidden partially by his mustache. He had a strong build to him, and Gasper knew him to be the captain of his own ship/casino. He dressed the part as well, showing his pride in being a sea-faring man.
The shocked look was evident on her face, as well as the older man's. The redhead hid in the shadows, watching them as the captain picked up the woman off the ground, helping her to her feet. He gave her a sad smile and began to escort her down the path. Little was said between them, but a face of fury was evident on the other man's face, the red head.
Oh, dear, this did not look good as the Dark General's men appeared. Not good at all. The older man stood in front of a woman, removing a long sword from its scabbard. However, the men stood before them with rifles. No this did not look good at all.
A large explosion rocked the sea as the captain covered the young woman's body. Gaser could see the captain's casino boat rocking in the waves as the General's men scattered. Standing up, the captain brushed himself off and helped the young woman up. She gave him a defeated smile, but kept her hand on the pendant around her neck. HE needed to be found, and be found quick.
Gasper had watched over this world for a long time, and only recently been able to see into Home World as Serge had coined it. Technologically and magically, Home World was further along, but Another world was at peace, or gave that essence off. Maybe that was why it pained him to look into the Home World. Maybe……….
