Interesting Start

Harry Potter, your almost average 16 year old wizard was sitting on his bed at number 4 Private Drive clutching a letter from his best friend Hermione Granger, sighing he looked down and read it again,

Dear Harry

I'm not going to pretend this is a normal letter, it's not. I know you're hurting, we all are, I also know you're blaming yourself, but please Harry IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. I know you don't believe it, Professer Dumbledore has given you permission to leave the Dursleys ASAP, so I thinking, maybe you could come over to my house for the summer, of course I understand it you go to the Weasleys, it's just an idea.

Love Hermione.

Harry had read this letter over and over since Hedwig had dropped it off this mourning; sighing to himself he fell back onto his bed. Staying with Hermione would be fun, but she would undoubtedly breach the subject of Sirius' death and then the prophecy. How could he tell her about it? How could he burden her? Questions Harry couldn't answer, he wanted to ask somebody but he couldn't think of anyone who he could burden with his problems. Harry was just content to spend the day in bed milling over his problems when suddenly he heard the door bell ring. Angrily Harry threw on a singlet top and some track pants and tromped down to answer the door. Grumbling to himself Harry wrenched the door open and came face to face with his beautiful bushy-haired best friend and her parents.

“Er…hey Hermione” Harry said dumbly, Hermione gave him a thousand watt smile and threw her arms around him, trapping him in a bone crushing hug. Petunia Dursley had just come into the hall to see who was at the door and witnessed Harry receive this hug.

“Honestly Boy, have some respect, you can't be having freaks like you over here at any time of the day” Petunia spat nastily, She still hadn't noticed Hermione's parents standing behind her, who were literally biting their tongues to remain civil. Harry felt Hermione stiffen in the hug and had finally had enough.

“Aunt Petunia, would you do the world a favor and shut the FUCK UP!!” Harry shouted, although the Grangers were shocked at the language, they also whole heartedly agreed with Harry.

“You insolent brat, we fed you, clothed you…” Petunia started.

“Yeah yeah, gave me a roof over my head, all out of the goodness of your own hearts. I've heard that song and dance before. You've treated me like shit for my whole life, and I took it. But NEVER insult someone as beautiful as Hermione just because Lily was better then you” Harry said to her, standing up in her face as he finished. Dudley had come into the picture by now and forcefully shoved Harry into the wall at what Harry had said about his mother, Hermione screamed for him to let Harry go, but Dudley was livid.

“I don't care about you freaks and your tricks. You will not talk to my mother like that, especially for a whore like her!” Dudley finished, jerking his head at Hermione, Harry was royally pissed, but could do anything to escape Dudley's clutches. Thankfully help soon came in the shape of Mr. Granger, who would not stand by and listen to his daughter be insulted. He grabbed Dudley in a head lock and forced him to the ground, Petunia tried to do something but Hermione stood in front of her, when Petunia tried to shove her out of the way Hermione slapped her across the face. Shocked at this both of the Dursleys gave up the fight.

“Alright, now everyone will sit down and we will discuss what my family is doing here like adults!” Mrs. Granger demanded, Petunia quietly led them into the family room and they all sat, the Dursleys over the other side of the room, both female Grangers protectively around Harry, while Mr. Granger sat close by off to the side.

“Okay, so what are you….people doing in my house?” Petunia asked rather harshly, while trying to appear civil.

“Well, for two reasons. One Harry needs a stable home environment where he isn't abused and starved, and Two because the Order needed to check on Harry.” Hermione said venomously.

“Vernon won't be Happy if you tack the boy, he does owe us for tacking him in!” Petunia told them, eyebrows raised in a smug fashion, Harry thought it best to intervene before things got too heated.

“Hermione, Mr. and Mrs. Granger, I appreciate the offer, but I'm not ready yet. I'll just stay here for the summer” Harry told them sullenly, as he was about to get up Hermione grabbed his wrist.

“No Harry, don't…don't do this I know it hurts. Merlin I do…but…this….this house…this family isn't healthy….please don't” She pleaded tears in her eyes.

“Oh and what could be so painful for Ickle little Potter?” Dudley asked a sneer evident on his portly features.

“I watched my godfather die, but that's not all….I was also told that I'm the only one who can stop my parent's killer.” Harry said, his anger starting to take over, before anyone could say anything else Harry stormed up to his room and slammed the door shut. Angry Harry kicked a few of his positions lying around on the floor. Before a soft knock came from the door.

“Go away” Harry said quietly, hoping to hold back tears. The Door opened quickly and Hermione stepped threw she gathered Harry up in a hug and let him cry on her shoulder, the whole time listening to Harry cry `I don't deserve you' and `why did he have to die' It broke Hermione's heart but she held him till he had cried himself out.

“Hermione….” Harry started but Hermione kissed him on the lips before he could say anything else. The feeling was surreal, his aching heart seemed to heal slightly because of the brief contact of there lips.

“Harry, its okay…..now lets get you packed up and ready to go” Hermione told him softly. Nodding his head Harry started to pack, albeit slowly, Hermoine smiled ruefully and went downstairs to tell her parents the good news.
