Challenge: June 13th: A Hot and Humid Summer
Genre: Fluff/ humor

Harry Potter never liked summer. Summer meant having to leave Hogwarts and the only people who cared about him behind. To make matters worse, Dumbledore insisted that Harry spend at least a month a number four Privet Drive before leaving to stay at the Burrow.
The week before Harry left his horrible prison, an unbearable heat wave struck. Harry mostly stayed in his room, in the shadowing corner; mostly because he was too hot to do anything else and he didn't want to hear Dudley complain about not having an air conditioner.
By the time the Weasley's came to pick Harry up via Floo Powder, the temperature sky rocketed and the humidity made it difficult to breathe.
“Hiya Harry,” Ron wheezed mopping the sweat off his face.
“Hey Ron,” Harry groaned back and heaving his trunk and Hedwig's cage (she had flown ahead the night before) into the fireplace.
“Awful weather,” Molly sighed fanning herself with her hands. “Even with cooling charms. Harry dear, where are your relatives?”
“Hiding,” Harry muttered back. Molly's lips formed a tight line rival to McGonagall's and handed Harry a pinch of Floo Powder.
“You first with your luggage dear. Ron and I will follow,” Molly said and Harry steeped into the hot, electric fireplace.
“Harry!” Hermione greeted as Harry spilled out of the fireplace. Harry quickly stood up and brushed the soot of off his clothes.
“Hey Hermione,” If he wasn't so hot, he would have had to smother his laughter. Hermione's hair, (which had calmed down quite a bit over the years) reacted to the humidity in an awful way. It stood out in all directions and her bangs were matted to her forehead.
“I would give you a hug, but I'm too hot. Sorry,” Hermione moaned taking her handkerchief and wiping her face.
“I understand,” Harry replied. The next instant, Ron and Molly shoot out of the fireplace.
“Fridius!” Molly sigh exasperated and waved her wand. Suddenly a gentle, cool, breeze filled the room and Harry, Ron and Hermione sighed in relief relishing it.
“Don't get too comfortable,” Arthur said coming downstairs. “This heat is too strong even for the most powerful cooling charm.”
“Never...Been...So... Hot....” Ron panted before plopping onto the couch, Harry and Hermione following him.
That night at dinner (which annoyed everyone that Molly made such a big meal because she used the stove which caused even more heat) no one spoke much. It wasn't until Fred and George apparated in when anything interesting happened.
“Here's a new prototype we though you all might enjoy!” Fred said jovially dropping a packaged sweet in front of everyone.
“Freezing Fudge! Eat it and you'll cool off instantly!” George said.
Everyone looked apprehensive and ignored the candy in front of them. Fred rolled his eyes.
“Look, no tricks. It's hot we just want to help!” The heat must have gone to Ron's head because he opened his candy and pooped it in his mouth. A look of brief release flashed across his face before sheer panic.
“I'LL KILL YOU!” He roared. Harry quickly looked up at his friend. Ron's face was bright red and he was sweating buckets.
“FRED! GEORGE! WHAT DID YOU GIVE HIM!?” Molly screeched grabbing her wand and pointing it at the twins who were backing away from Ron.
“Honestly! It was a mistake! We said it was just a prototype!” George said hastily.
“Sorry Ron you were the first to try it!” Fred added before both of them quickly disapperated.
Fuming, Molly conjured up a bucket of cold water and order Ron to sunk his head in.
Ron, who was beginning to look faint did so splashing water all over the floor.
“Do you think they did it on purpose?” Hermione asked looking fearful.
“Nah. They seemed genuinely upset,” Harry replied hoping to reassure her. When Ron emerged from the bucket, his hair plastered to his face, he looked to be back to normal. That is, his face had returned to it's normal colour but he was still sweating.
“Bloody wankers,” He muttered before sweeping his hair back soaking Ginny who was standing innocently behind him.
That night, Harry couldn't for the life of him fall asleep. He tossed and turned until three o'clock in the morning, before getting up from his sweat soaked sheets and heading downstairs.
He collapsed on the couch with a cup of ice and gently closed his eyes. A quiet noise coming from the stairs sent them flying back open a few moments later.
“Harry?” Hermione's soft voice called in the darkness.
“Over here Hermione,” Harry called popping an ice cube in his mouth.
“Couldn't sleep?” Hermione guessed joining him on the sofa.
“Too hot,” Harry grunted. “Ice?” Hermione grabbed an ice cube from the cup and began to suck on it.
“I hate the heat,” she groaned and leaned back into Harry's chest. His first reaction was to push her off; it was too hot and her hair was getting in his face. After a moment however, he found that it was rather comfortable to have Hermione wrapped around him like that.
“Me too,” he replied sleepily “Can't get comfortable.” But his words failed to be true and they both found that being together made them more comfortable then they have ever been, despite the blazing heat; and it wasn't long before they both were fast asleep.
