Chapter Eleven: "Chase You Down"

[NOTE: I was having some problems getting this chapter up. It was originally supposed to be up on 2/5/07, but because of the problems, it's only up now. SORRY. I've solved the problem, though, so this shouldn't happen again.]

A/N: Here's chapter eleven, the very LAST chapter. Sorry it took me so long to get it up… I just didn't want this story to end =/

So I hope you guys have enjoyed this story because I really enjoyed writing it.

After you're done reading, please leave me one last review !!

Everyone in Hogwarts seemed to be talking about Pansy and Draco's breakup. They had been off and on the last couple of weeks, but now, Draco had made it very clear that they were off.

Ginny couldn't believe Draco had split with Pansy for her. However, Ginny soon realized that even though he had split with all of the Slytherin girls, that didn't stop him from flirting with them.

Unfortunately, Ginny had to watch Draco flirt profusely with all of the Slytherin girls that were constantly stalking him. Even though he claimed he was with Ginny, he wasn't really with her.

Later that evening, Ginny decided to speak up. "I want you for myself," she confessed.

Draco looked up. "What?" A confused expression dawned across his face. Ginny bit her lip, hoping she wouldn't drive Draco away.

"I want you for myself," Ginny repeated, her voice a little louder and stronger.

There was silence. It lingered between the two of them for a very long time before Draco finally spoke up. "I'm not seeing anyone else, Ginny."

"But you're flirting with all of them," Ginny muttered bitterly, "Does that mean I'm allowed to flirt with every guy I pass?"

"No," Draco answered a little too quickly. Ginny gave him a look, and he looked defeated.

Draco sighed. "Look, this is who I am. I'm not going to give up who I am, okay? So you'll just have to deal with it or leave." His voice had a sharp edge to it, and he sounded like he was going to burst any moment.

Ginny pondered what he had said for a few moments. Why didn't she just leave him? Why didn't she yell 'screw this' really loud and take off for the common room? Although Ginny didn't want to admit it, she knew why. She could never survive even a week without Draco Malfoy. Ginny stood silently, staring at Draco.

"Leave," Draco repeated, glaring at her. Ginny continued to stand where she was. Draco gave her a few more moments before grabbing her and pressing her to his body. Ginny felt her lips touch Draco's and she melted into his arms.

Ginny pulled away from Draco after quite a while. She ran her fingers through her red hair, trying to fix it.

"Anyone out there?"

Ginny gasped. She would recognize that voice from anywhere- Hermione. She was the other Head Girl. Ginny swore quietly. If Hermione caught her, she'd never let it go. After all, Ginny had just split with Michael Corner and Hermione thought she was extremely sad.

"It's Hermione," Ginny hissed to Draco, "What am I supposed to do? You're allowed to be out here because you're Head Boy, but I'm not."

Draco paused for a second, not speaking. He bit his lip and his eyebrows lowered as if he was thinking hard.

"Draco?" Ginny asked tentatively and slightly urgently. She could hear footsteps now.

Draco opened the guy's bathroom that was behind them and ushered her into it. Ginny muffled a shriek of disgust as Draco slammed the door shut just as Hermione approached him.

"Draco!" Hermione exclaimed, slightly surprised. Draco gave her an odd look and she shook her head. "Never mind. What are you doing up?"

"I could ask you the same question," Draco responded.

"But I'm Head Girl," Hermione protested.

"I'm Head Boy."

"Oh yeah." Hermione looked slightly embarrassed. She glanced around, as if looking for someone else, and then looked back at Draco. "Well, our patrol ends in thirty minutes."

Draco nodded absentmindedly, looking extremely bored. Hermione must have caught the look because she muttered a quick goodbye before taking off. Draco waited for a few moments before opening the bathroom door and letting Ginny out. She came out, her nose wrinkled.

"Ew," she exclaimed, giving Draco a look. He laughed quietly and kissed her cheek.

"Time to go back," Draco told her, "I'll see you tomorrow."

Ginny's expression fell slightly. Tomorrow was just going to be like all the other days. Draco wouldn't acknowledge her in public, and Ginny would have to watch Draco flirt with all the snobby Slytherin girls.

"Are things ever going to change?" Ginny asked suddenly and without warning. Draco looked at her.

"No, things are great the way they are," Draco reassured her. Ginny didn't feel that way, however, but she didn't say anything. She was going to fix this problem if it was the last thing she did.

Ginny kissed Draco softly before taking off towards the Gryffindor common room. Things may be 'great,' but they weren't perfect.

"It's revolting what a player he is," Ginny's friend, Annabelle Fletcher, commented with disgust. The two of them were watching Draco flirting with three Slytherin girls at the same time. The funny thing was that none of them cared that he was playing all three of them. All they cared about was the fact that Draco was bothering to talk to them.

"You like him," Ginny reminded her. Ginny didn't bother mentioning that she fancied him as well.

"That doesn't mean he isn't a player," Annabelle retorted, "Plus, just because I fancy him, that doesn't mean I'd ever actually want to be with him. He could never care about anyone."

Ginny swallowed, feeling her heart break in half as she watched Draco. The same thing happened every day. Ginny didn't know how much longer she could take this. She hated watching Draco practically snog another girl. She really liked him. Didn't he care about her at all? Was she worth anything to him?

"You look lost in thought," Annabelle observed. Ginny shrugged. She wasn't about to tell Annabelle what was actually on her mind. She hadn't told anyone about Draco. Hermione was the only one who knew she even fancied Draco. Ginny wasn't planning on filling anyone else in.

"I guess school is just a little overwhelming."

Annabelle nodded sympathetically. "Yep, N.E.W.T.'s are a killer."

Ginny felt anger rise within her as she watched Draco. He looked at her for a moment. She caught his eye and gave him a look, but he just stared at her indifferently before looking back at the girls.

Ginny couldn't take this any longer. She wasn't going to just sit around. Without notice, Ginny stood up and marched towards Draco.

"Gin, where are you going?" Ginny heard Annabelle ask. Ginny didn't respond. Instead, she continued to walk towards Draco.

Ginny yanked on Draco's arm.

"What, Weasel?" He asked, a look of surprise on his face. Ginny didn't respond. Instead, she pulled him towards a corner in the hallway. Quite a few people had gathered around them to see what all the commotion was about.

"Draco," Ginny whispered quietly so that nobody else could hear, "I want you to acknowledge me publicly."

"No." Draco's response was short. "They don't have to know that we're snogging. What difference does it make if everyone knows?"

"Are you embarrassed of me?" Ginny demanded, her voice rising ever so slightly. A few people exchanged confused looks.

"I just don't see why everyone else has to know," Draco hissed. He glanced around and then gave Ginny an irritated look. "Now look what you've done. We have an audience."

Ginny glanced around and noticed just how many people there were surrounding them. There was probably at least sixty students, or more. Ginny couldn't even see the hallway anymore. There were so many people around the two of them. Suddenly, Ginny felt slightly nervous.

"Are we done here?" Draco demanded.

Ginny shook her head vigorously. She looked around at everyone one more time before turning back to Draco.

"Acknowledge me now or lose me forever," she told him quietly.

"What?" Draco's face showed shock and surprise.

"Acknowledge me now or lose me forever, Draco," Ginny repeated a little louder. Her voice was stronger and clearer.

Draco stared at her, not speaking. Ginny felt tears well up in her eyes, but she fought to keep them down. She continued to keep her eyes on Draco, her gaze unwavering and strong.

"Draco, say something." Ginny's voice wasn't any higher than a whisper.

There was silence again lingering between the two of them. Ginny was having an extremely hard time keeping down her tears. Don't cry, don't cry, Ginny told herself quietly. Her lower lip trembled ever so slightly.

Another minute passed, and Draco still hadn't spoken. The crowd around them was bursting with whispers. Ginny held her breath, turned around, and began to walk away. The crowd made a pathway for her. She continued to walk, her heart thumping and her mind overwhelmed.

Ginny didn't dare look behind her as she sped up, a tear rolling down her cheek. How could she have been so stupid? How could she have fallen for Draco Malfoy? Some part of her had thought he was going to acknowledge her, but now that she thought about it, it all seemed so stupid.

"Ginny!"

Ginny stopped dead in her tracks. She listened for a moment, wondering if it could possibly be Draco calling her name. She didn't hear anything else, so she assumed it was her imagination. Sadly, Ginny continued to walk.

"Sod. Ginny, Merlin, wait!"

Ginny turned around ever so slowly to see Draco running towards her. She held her breath as he caught up to her.

"I'm sorry."

Ginny felt her breath get caught inside of her, her mind whirling. Was he going to kiss her? Was she thinking what he was thinking? What was going on?

"I am too," Ginny replied quietly, trying to pull her eyes away from his cold gray ones.

"For what?" Draco asked, looking confused.

"Falling for you." Ginny peeled her gaze away from Draco's. She lowered her line of sight, her heart thumping wildly. Just standing in Draco's presence was overwhelming for her.

"Well in that case…" Draco tilted her head up towards his. She found herself staring into his soft gray eyes. "I'm not sorry at all."

Draco and Ginny reached for each other at the same moment, their lips colliding perfectly. Ginny felt Draco take her breath away as he pressed his lips against hers, wrapping his arms around her neck.

Ginny pulled away from Draco, panting heavily. "People are watching the show," she breathed to him.

Draco grinned. "Exactly. We don't want to disappoint them."

Ginny laughed, but her laughter was muffled by Draco's kiss. She felt her heart soar and she melted into his arms. Their bodies fused together as Ginny kissed Draco passionately. Ginny smiled to herself as she realized how perfectly she fit into Draco's arms. The two of them were a perfect match.

A/N: And that's the end.

Not to worry. There will be more stories coming up soon. My new D/G story "Lock Up My Heart" should be coming shortly. I just want to write a bit of it before I post the first chapter so that I don't fall behind.
