AN: Okay so this is the prologue for my new story, Harry Potter and the New Enemy. It could be considered AU considering it has information about my vision for how book 7 ends. All you need to know is that Draco and Snape are not evil, Ron and Hermione tried being a couple and it didn't work but they're still friends, Harry was not a Horcrux, and Harry and Ginny agreed to be friends a year before this story takes place. Of course I might end up changing that up later in the story and do some Ginny bashing. It depends how I feel. But anyway, here’s the prologue for Harry Potter and the New Enemy. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or its characters. If I did, obviously Harry and Hermione would be a couple by now or there’d be severe hints to it.

Prologue: The End of the Beginning

At long last, the war was over. Finally Voldemort was gone. He, Harry James Potter, had defeated Voldemort and the Death Eaters. He had finally avenged the deaths of so many. Those who died before the second war like his parents and Cedric Diggory and those who died during the war like Sirius and Dumbledore. He had finally avenged them all and so many others. He was simply walking around the battlefield watching over the healers who were taking care of the injured when, all of a sudden, a bushy-haired woman ran up to him with tears in her eyes. Harry smiled as he started to walk towards one of his best friends, Hermione Granger, as she continued to run.

“You did it, Harry,” she said as she gave him a hug, “You finally defeated Voldemort.” She felt Harry shake his head in reply.

“No, Hermione, we all defeated him,” he replied, “Those who fought here today, those who died against him, our spies who risked their lives. We all defeated him, not just me.” Hermione smiled as she looked up at him and shook her head.

“Don’t be so modest. We may have fought against him and his death eaters, helped you find the horcruxes, and risked our lives but you were the one who dealt the final blow. You are the true hero of the Second Wizarding War,” she replied. Harry found himself smiling at her again.

“Thanks ‘Mione,” he replied. Hermione’s really sweet. In fact she smells sweet. Like strawberries. It feels so comforting to have her in my arms. She’s so beautiful and- whoa wait. Am I thinking that? Stop thinking that. You’re in love with Ginny! After some odd thoughts, Harry let go of her and asked…

“So where’s Ron,” he asked, “I thought he would have been with you.”

“Oh he’s with Draco, rounding up the surviving Death Eaters and tending to the prisoners Voldemort had captured.” About a year after Dumbledore’s death, Draco had shown up and offered to turn spy for the order after he couldn’t kill Dumbledore himself. It turned out Dumbledore had told Snape to kill him if there were Death Eaters around. They both proved themselves trustworthy with veritaserum and seeing Snape’s memory of the event in question. Thus, both Snape and Draco became spies for the Order of the Phoenix. However, the following year, Voldemort found out and tried to kill them. Draco managed to get away but not before seeing Snape killed by his own father. It took Draco a while to get over it while he was being hidden by the order. Harry smiled at Hermione and the two went off to see if anyone needed healing. They saw Ginny being treated by Neville Longbottom and went to see how they were.

“Hey Ginny, Hey Neville,” Harry said to the two. Ginny and Neville looked up once they heard Harry’s voice. They both gave Harry a tired smile that showed how tired they were.

“Hey Harry, hey Hermione,” Ginny replied. Harry was happy to see that Ginny was all right. Although he no longer had any romantic feelings for her, she was still like a dear sister to him and he cared for her deeply.

“How are you doing, Neville,” Hermione asked. She knew he had been injured when he took the Cruciatus attack for her and she was concerned. Neville smiled at her.

“Oh I’m fine,” he replied, “Ginny managed to help me on my feet before she was attacked.” He looked fondly at her and one could suspect that there was love in his eyes. Ginny likewise smiled at him. It was then that Ginny looked at Hermione and had a look of shock on her face as she looked her over.

“Hermione, are you all right,” she asked. It was then that Harry noticed how she looked. Her clothes were severely disheveled, there was blood dripping down from her knees down to her ankles and she had several smudges on her face. Hermione looked over herself and shook her head.

“Oh I’m fine,” she replied, “just a couple of injuries. It’s not a very big deal.” Harry quickly shook his head.

“Hermione, you’re bleeding. That’s a very big deal. Come on, let’s go find a healer,” he replied, “We’ll see you two later all right?” The two in question quickly nodded as Harry led a disputing Hermione toward the closest healer.

“Harry, I’m fine. Okay, just relax,” Hermione said as she tried to get out of Harry’s grasp. Harry, however, kept a tight hold on Hermione as he led her to the healer.

“Is there a problem,” asked the Healer once they had finally found him.

“No, there is…” Hermione tried to say but she was stopped by Harry’s firm grip on her arm. Harry then turned to face the Healer.

“Yes, in fact there is. My friend here is injured and I want to make sure she’s all right,” he replied while ignoring Hermione’s glares. If looks could kill, Harry would have been stone cold dead by now. The Healer quickly nodded. Harry released Hermione from his grip. She tried to run but the healer quickly grabbed her arm and led her to the healing tent. Harry smiled as he saw Hermione struggling to be free.

“Come on, Hermione. You’re hurt and I’m worried. Please just go and see if there’s anything wrong,” he asked her. Hermione’s face softened as she heard that. She stopped resisting and walked to the tent of her own accord. The healer quickly took a look at her. He turned to face Harry and smiled at him.

“She’s fine. She’ll just have to take it easy for a little bit. Her legs are scrapped but other than that there’s nothing wrong with her. Just take care of her and keep an eye out. Nothing’s wrong but we wouldn’t want anything to happen, all right?” Harry smiled and nodded his head.

“Good,” he replied, “well, in that case you may go Ms. Granger.” Hermione stood up and left with Harry. Together, the two headed for the area where those who had been captured were.
