Chapter 1: Angel
*****
Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay.
There's always some reason
To not feel good enough,
And it’s hard at the end of the day.
I need some distraction,
Oh beautiful release memory seep from veins.
A frustrated sigh escaped Virginia Weasley's lips as she heard the insistent tap! Tap! on her white, chipping windowpane that had oh so rudely woken her up. She slowly rolled out of her soft, feather-stuffed bed and ran her long fingers through her rumpled, gold- tinged hair. Her careful, almond shaped chocolate waved eyes slid across the room to rest upon a very irate looking owl that was tapping her window. Annoyance briefly rippled in her seemingly endless pools of soft melted coffee eyes.
She rolled the previously mentioned eyes and snorted as she made her way over to the pane, lifting it up and letting the majestic, tawny owl inside the small, cramped room of the flat that she owned in the heart of the hidden, magical part of London. The owl dropped the letter with a flourish and hooted regally at Virginia with its amber eyes focused in her. She cringed under its critical glare, even though she knew it couldn't judge her appearance as being poor or anything more, seeming how it was just a bird after all.
Though if there was a human with a critical eye in the room, they would have most certainly noticed the black charcoaled streaks of mascara that ran in frozen rivers down Virginia's porcelain face, the red rimmed eyes that indicated crying had been coming from their depths and the tangled auburn hair that fell in masses just shy of the petite woman's elbow. She grumbled slightly at the misfortune, in her eyes, at being woken at such a god-forsaken hour of five in the morning after such a miserable night.
With tired, worn fingers she pried the stubborn envelope encasing the seemingly important letter open after giving the impatient owl a crumbling cracker off her battered desk and letting it out, her bleary, tear stained eyes scanned the dark, crisp parchment. Deep inside her throat she felt an irritated growl and she slammed the letter down on the table and tucked her hair behind her then concentrated again on the now strangely blurred letters that were written in blinding red ink. She shook her head and they came into focus again, allowing Virginia to read it properly this time.
Dear Miss Virginia Weasley,
You are requested at the residence of Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry as soon as possible. There has been urgent news from an inside source and we are forming teams to help in the war effort. Your presence is requested among us assembled to aide in the effort for your exemplenary skills you have shown in the past to us. Your help would be deeply gratifying to the Order as you have assisted many times before and are coveted as a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
Sincerely, Albus Dumbledore
"Damn, why now, Dumbledore, why now?†she muttered to herself, Then without much enthusiasm started to clean up and watched as her face slowly came clean of is former marks of sorrow left there from the night before.
Let me empty oh, and weightless
and maybe I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear.
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
You're so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back.
Soon, her marred face was back to its usual flawless tempo and Virginia's eyes looked normal though the soft hints of sadness creased the edges significantly giving the young woman a look of knowledge and experience well beyond her twenty-one years of life.
With a nod at her slightly rumpled, but acceptable appearance in the mirror she finally changed into some fresh, clean-smelling robes. The dark, emerald of the soft robes contrasted nicely with her crimson locks that now cascaded in soft, natural waves instead of a tangled mass down her back. She sighed again and shook herself of the crouched stature she had unknowingly assumed that morning. Slowly, her face became more composed than previous looks and Virginia looked slightly less wretched than before, which eventually took away the concentration lines along her furrowed brow.
Finally, tired of manually doing the tasks of leaving the flat, which were well oiled after many times of short notice on trips to make for the Order which was headed by Dumbledore now that the school of Hogwarts had eventually been closed, she picked up her holly wand and flicked it around, setting some magic to packing some necessities for her journey to Hogwarts and it was down within minutes.
Storm keeps on twisting'
keep on building the lies
that you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference
Escaping one last time it’s easier to believe in this
Sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
that brings me to my knees
In the arms of the angel,
fly away from here
from this dark, cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
your in the arms of the angel.
She smiled a very small, flicker of a smile at the completion of the task and picked up the feather-light, small, bottomless pouch that had everything she needed in it and concentrated on a final spell to get her to her destination.
"Apparatus Quintolum Prilum."
Her frenzied presence flickered out of the torn up, disorganized room of the London flat and in moments the redhead was standing outside some ancient, rusted gates that massed ten times the Virginia's own height.
They creaked ever so softly as they slowly crept open at her appearance, revealing a sprawling field of greenery and in the far distance an enormous twisting castle that you often dreamed of in those fantasies you have about being a princess in some foreign land far away from anywhere you are familiar with.
"Welcome back to Hogwarts, Weasley," a soft, dangerous sounding voice said in the distance, causing Virginia to start with unexpected surprise.
May you find some comfort here
Your in the arms of the angel may you find..
Some comfort..
Here.
