The final war
2. Final War
Hey guys, this is the second chapter of this story and I hope you will enjoy it. Thank you so much for the reviews, they really cheered me up!
The Final Battle.
Harry flew over the mountain, he looked toward the ground for any landing, and he spotted a small cliff opening and flew down to it.
He landed on it while looking around for any death eaters before stashing his broom behind a huge rock, making sure it was firmly planted onto the ground before placing his bag over it, to prevent it from being blown away.
Harry walked over toward the opening of the cave and slowly entered the mountain, keeping a sharp eye out for anything that may come out to harm him or prevent him from getting in any further.
“He’s here, go and welcome him.” Voldemort smirked as he waved a hand, dismissing the death eaters while he leaned back on his throne with a chuckle as he laced his fingers together.
“Why couldn’t he have told us?” Hermione asked, Ron, Ginny, the Weasley, Tonks, Mad-eye, Lupin, Kingley, Fudge, McGonagall, Snape, and Dumbledore were in Dumbledore office.
Dumbledore sighed as he sat back in his seat and looked over his glasses at the young woman in front of him, looking positively terrified that Harry was all by himself and hadn’t told anyone where he was going or what he had been planning.
“Because he didn’t want you to see him die before your eyes like he saw Sirius died.” Dumbledore explained and Hermione shook her head.
“He’s still blaming himself for that isn’t he?” Ginny asked and Hermione nodded.
“Yes, he feels that it was his fault, that he should have listened to me. We have had many arguments over that conversation but he still wouldn’t listen.” Hermione explained.
“I think it more to do with the Dursley.” Lupin stated and everyone looked at him confused. “Listen, ever since I have been a teacher here, I saw Harry take the blame for everything that was out of his control, things that he couldn’t have known was going to happen.” Lupin explained and Hermione and Ron nodded.
“We saw it too, he blamed himself when Cedric died, even though he couldn’t have known that Voldemort was on the other side of the Trophy.” Hermione murmured thoughtfully.
“He blamed himself when the basilisk attacked the muggle-born.” Ron added.
“He did?” Hermione asked and Ron nodded. “How come I didn’t know?” she asked.
“He didn’t tell me, I heard him muttering about it in his dreams, he was saying that he was sorry that he didn’t protect you from snake and all that.” Ron explained and Hermione felt her heart break.
“Oh Harry.” Hermione whispered as she stared out of the window into the darkness.
Harry heard a noise coming from the front of him, he raised his wand as he looked around for a place to hide, he noticed that there was a gap to his left, he quickly pressed himself into the gap, willing himself to blend into the wall.
To his relief the death eaters ran passes him, continuing to look for him. Harry slid out of the gap and hurried down the same passage the death eaters came, hoping it would lead him straight to Voldemort.
The snake was slithering about in her corner, she hissed as she tasted the air and swung her head back and forward to look for any intruder but was satisfied when she didn’t see anyone, she turned back to her business when a sharp hitting sound made the wall, her head snapped round toward the noise but was puzzled when she couldn’t see anything.
“Night, Night.” A voice hissed in parseltongue as a sharp object was embedded into the base of her head. The snake let out a low whimper as she slumped to the ground.
Harry dusted himself off as he picked himself off the ground and looked at the dead snake that was lying on the ground. He shook his head.
“Never thought I would have to kill them again.” Harry muttered himself as he climbed back onto the head to pull out the sword, he hurried around to the mouth of the snake and pressed a jar up against the tooth to let out the venom to let it fill up the jar, he quickly screwed the lid on and hurried out of the room toward the corridor which led to his final destination…
Voldemort.
“Does Harry know how to kill You-Know-Who?” Molly asked.
“Yes, he had been studying the last couple of weeks, he wouldn’t tell me how he knew but he knows how to kill him.” Dumbledore explained.
Hermione was standing next to the window with her head resting on the cool pane as the tears dropped onto her cheek.
“Does it involve in him losing his life?” Hermione whispered, Dumbledore turned to her, she still had her back turned to him so no one would know what her reaction would be but Dumbledore knew what it would be.
“I don’t know.” Dumbledore admitted, the young woman nodded as she wrapped her arms around her stomach while more tears fell down her face.
‘Come on, Hermione, it’s Christmas, Harry deserves a break.’
Hermione bit her lip, looking extremely worried.
‘Are you going to report me?’ Harry asked her, grinning.
‘Oh – of course not – but honestly, Harry –‘
“You can be really annoying sometimes.” Hermione muttered to herself as she wiped away the tears while grinning at the memory, she knew that his smile would make her do anything and she just hoped that she would see it again.
‘Follow the spiders? Why can’t it be follow the butterflies?’ Ron demanded.
‘where’s Hermione when you need her?’ Ron whined as he and Harry went back to back as the spiders surrounded them.
‘Follow the Spiders. Follow the spiders. If Hagrid ever gets out of Azkaban, I’ll kill him myself!” Ron furiously exclaimed to Harry.
Ron smiled when he thought back to that moment, Harry was cool under pressure at the time and it just made him realise how brave Harry could be when it came to the involvement of his best friends.
Both, Hermione and Ron, smiled at each other, thinking the same thing.
Harry was the glue that held them together and he better get out alive or they were going to kick his butt, dead or alive.
Harry entered the chamber and saw that Voldemort was sitting on his throne.
“Hello Harry Potter.” Voldemort spat, Harry just smirked.
“Hello Tom Riddle.” Harry spat back, Voldemort felt his blood boil at the name.
“How dare you call me that filthy muggle name?” Voldemort snapped as he stood up.
“Not my problem that you can’t handle it.” Harry shrugged.
“You have just signed you death contract!” Voldemort snapped and Harry rolled his eyes.
“Signed it when I was one years old, you are a little slow on the uptake. Need to take a minute to catch up?” Harry taunted as both men circled each other.
“You are nothing but a half breed, nothing but a wash out loser!” Voldemort sneered, Harry stopped moving and moved his hands in a motion of a phone while placing it over his ear.
“Hello. Dr Kettle is paging Dr. Pot.” Harry taunted.
“What are you on about boy?” Voldemort snapped, not in the mood to play games, Harry rolled his eyes.
“Pot calling the kettle black aren’t you? You are a half breed yourself if you forget. I mean you mother was a witch while your father was a muggle or did I get that wrong?” Harry teased as they both circled each other once more.
All the death eaters were stunned as they heard this information.
“Voldemort is a half?” most of them muttered.
“Don’t tease me boy!” Voldemort growled as he whipped out his wand and threw a spell at Harry, Harry lifted his wand and threw a counter spell which caused their wands to repel against each other.
“Oh dear, you really have a bad memory don’t you?” Harry taunted. “You know our wands can’t work against each other as they are brothers.” Harry snapped.
Voldemort growled in frustration as he looked toward the death eaters.
“Give me your wand.” Voldemort snapped, one of them threw their wand to Voldemort to catch it and turned to Harry, ready to cast a spell but was too slow.
“Barrier callon.” Harry snapped as a barrier erupted around his body and he pointed his wand at Voldemort. “Draconic Pyros!” Harry shouted, a flare of fire erupted from the tip of the wand and formed itself into a dragon as it raced toward Voldemort, Voldemort, however, was able to ward it off but it headed straight for the death eaters, burning them as it went along, leaving the screams of agony.
“Hm, I’m impressed boy, you seem to have learned a lot.” Voldemort sneered.
“Oh you haven’t seen anything yet.” Harry smirked as they both brought their wands up to face each other.
“Crucio!” Voldemort shouted.
“Reversa!” Harry shouted a second later, which sent the spell going the opposite direction, Voldemort was too stunned that Harry deflected the spell that he couldn’t protect himself him when the spell hit him.
Voldemort gritted his teeth as he fell to his knees in agony.
“Hurts like hell doesn’t it?” Harry asked as he walked up to Voldemort and circled him. “The best part was, I added a little something to the spell, I added my own emotions, all the pain and suffering I have felt over in nearly 17 years to the spell that you sent me, everything you are feeling is what I had been feeling over the years. God-damn painful isn’t it?” Harry snapped as he knelt down in front of Voldemort so that their eyes were levelled with each other. “I want to thank you, you gave me the idea how to kill you in our second year and I’m going to enjoy putting a monster like you down!” Harry snapped as he grabbed the sword and plunged in it into Voldemort’s chest.
Voldemort felt the coldness filling his body, freezing his organs.
“It’s amazing isn’t it? How quickly the Basilisk Venom penetrates the body. I say you have about a minute or two to live.” Harry stated, repeating what Voldemort said to him all these years ago.
Harry turned his back on Voldemort as he began to stride out of the room but Voldemort, in a last desperate attempt, he grabbed his wand and pointed it at Harry.
“Avada Kedavra!” he whispered as he slumped to the ground.
Harry turned around just before the spell hit him.
“Fire, earth, water, air, hear my plea, come before and combine together as one!” Harry called out as he held out his hands, the elements listened and combined together as Voldemort’s soul rose from the body.
Harry threw his hands at Voldemort, causing the elements to envelope him.
“Expectro Pantro Leo!” Harry shouted, causing a blast of air to fill the room , lighting filled the room, cracking around the building.
Voldemort looked around fearfully.
“You may be the Slytherin heir but I’M the Gryffindor heir!” Harry snapped.
The Lion jumped into the element, finally completing the spell. Voldemort let out a scream that could be heard for years as a blinding light enveloped the room. The ground shook as it split under them. Voldemort tipped into the burning abyss below him. “Say hi to the devil for me.” Harry whispered as the killing curse hit his body, sending him backward, not killing for some reason.
“It’s over.” Harry whispered as his eyes closed and a dribble of blood trailed out of his mouth.
Above him the stars shined brightly as if they were crying at what the young man had went through.
