To Win Your Heart
3. Authors Note
All right, first of all, I would really really like to thank Dome 36 for writing that review to chapter 2 and putting some sense into my head. I most certainly did not think of your review as mean and I truly appreciated it. I always like reading your reviews bacause they are constructive and really help me improve my writing. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!
Ok, now to what this note is really all about. When I started writing chapter 2, I was really quite proud of it. I thought that I was writing the characters pretty well and I thought I made the conversation between Luna and Ron ok at first. Then it went bad. I was completely sure when I posted it that I was doing the right thing but, partly because of tiredness and partly because of my own selfish little ego, I let the chapter go and stay the way it was. I realize now I made a bit of a mistake with posting it. After the AMAZING amount of reviews and support I've gotten for "The Heirs of Hogwarts" I got a little too confident and right away assumed that anything I wrote would take off. I'm a big idiot for thinking that. As much as people seem to be enjoying this story so far, I'm clearly not happy with it. I intended for this story to be a little something on the side for me but, because of that, I let my writing slip a little. I take a lot of time with each chapter to "Heirs" making sure it sounds just right, I didn't do the same for this story. A lot of you will think I'm being too hard on myself, I don't think I am. I wrote a bad chapter.
Ok, maybe not ENTIRELY bad. How I ended it was horrible and insensitive though. I made Ron look very shallow and downright nasty. To go after a girl after just finding out your mother had been murdered is entirely unrealistic and just sick. When I first wrote it, I meant for it to be that Ron was desperately looking for a distraction from the pain he was feeling and he asked Luna out because of it. I realize I shouldn't have done that and should have left it that maybe he thought of her a little different now but he was so much in grief that he couldn't possibly ask her out. I should've let some months pass and then had Ron try and ask her out. I made a foolish mistake and I feel horrible about how I wrote that chapter.I also made Harry and Hermione's characters insensitive in the fact that they never went looking for Ron to try and comfort him. Best friends ALWAYS try and comfort each other and making them just give him "alone time" was not right. I'm really thinking of re-writing this chapter. Many of you seem to like it and I appreciate that, but I'm not happy with it and I can't continue writing if I'm not happy about something. I wouldn't change a majority of the chapter, just the parts that seem unrealistic and shallow.
The truth about this whole note is, I rushed this chapter and I rushed the entire plot. I was very keen on getting to the main action of this story and I let some things slip. I can't let that happen though and I intend on re-writing this when I have the time. I'm also thinking of maybe pausing it for a little bit because of "Heirs." Most of my focus lies with that story and I'm finding it very difficult to give my attention to two different stories, which is why I have paused "Love Is Never Simple." There are a lot of people that think "Heirs" is my best work and that's because I take time to make it good. I want to do that with all of my stories so its not fair that I let this one slip. I really hope I'm not making myself sound egotistical, that's not how I meant this note to sound. Every writer wants their work to sound good and for it to leave a good impress on people, I believe I get that if I focus entirely on one story. So, that's what I'll do from now on. My focus is with "Heirs" until I am finished with it, which may not be for a while. I am truly sorry to all the people who seem to like this story so much. I may try and write it every now and then but not as frequently as you may like. I am really truly sorry. Please do check out "The Heirs of Hogwarts" though. I'm very proud of that story and I appreciate all the reviews and constructive criticism I can get on it.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you understand where I am coming from. To all my readers: you are the best!
Much Love,PhoenixFirebolt
