What Leenie Learned

1. Chapter 1

“Why is we back at the beginning?”

“Because, that is where we are seeing how it all started.”

“But, I am knowing how it all started. I am remembering the day he came. It was my pumpkin juice that he was drinking.”

“Yes, but you is not knowing the whole story. What is underneath everything, that is what I am needing to learn.”

“I am thinking that using time-turner is not good for House-elves…”

“Hush… he is coming…”

“Okay, I am hushing.”

“Everything changed the day he stopped you-know-who. I am thinking that before he is leaving Hogwarts he is changing things even more. I am wondering what that will be bringing.”

“If we is wondering about tomorrow, how come we is going to all these yesterdays?”

“The beginning is where everything is coming clear. It makes tomorrow more easy to see if you see where it all was starting.”

“How is it he was stopping you-know-who?”

“Love. That is what they is saying.”

“Love? I wonder how that is stopping him.”

“I am not exactly knowing.”

“We should be going back to working now.”

“We are working. We are learning about He-who-changes-everything.”

“Who is telling us to do this?”

“Dumbledore is telling us.”

“Why?”

“I am not knowing. Maybe he is wanting to know more, so he can better see what is coming.”

“Oh.”

“Shhhh… there he is.”

“He is looking sad, Leenie.”

“Yes, I am seeing that too.”

“I am wondering what he is thinking.”

“I think he is trying to understand what his place is being.”

“Why are humans, so confused about where they is belonging in the world?”

“I’m not knowing, Gebble. Maybe that is something we is learning, while watching him.”

“He is sleeping now.”

“Yes. It is long past time for lights to be out now.

“Ha, ha… maybe we should go and see ourselves in kitchens and asking if we are needing any help with working.”

“Gebble! I am thinking you are making a joke. You are being very funny.”

“I am having to do something. I am feeling very lazy for not working.”

“We are working! I am telling you this already!”

“I know, Leenie. I just feel we are wrong to be ones who are doing this. House-elves are not to be traveling in time and learning things.”

“Dumbledore is saying that we might see things that are missed by wizards. Sometimes we are seeing things different from our masters.”

“He looks like he is dreaming.”

“No, Leenie is thinking he is not dreaming. He has no happy things in him yet. He is probably having nightmares.”

“I am not liking to see him like this. We should get him more pillows and then getting him a nice, warm drink.”

“We can’t. Dumbledore is saying we must not change anything in the past. It would be making future all wrong.”

“Kind of like Winky and too much butterbeer? That is being all sorts of wrong.”

“Stop it Gebble! You are making me giggle, when being quiet is what we should be doing.”

“Sorry.”

“… No, don’t be sorry. I am liking that you are being so funny.”

“What now?”

“I think we have seen enough of Harry Potter on first day. Let’s go and watch other days.”

“Okay, Leenie. I am ready.”

--- ---

“Please don’t be upset, but how many more days are we seeing of first year at Hogwarts. This is being kind of boring now.”

{sigh} “Gebble, things are very important at the beginning. Please, watch.”

“Why is Harry liking sweater from Wheezy’s mother? I don’t understand the presents so much.”

“It isn’t sweater that Harry Potter is liking. It is that he is getting presents.”

“Are humans liking presents a lot?”

“Well, it isn’t exactly presents, Gebble. Harry Potter is liking ‘getting’ presents. It is meaning that he is finding that people are caring about him. It makes him feel less sad.”

“Then Gebble is feeling less sad for Harry Potter.”

“I am sure that is making him much happier.”

“I think Leenie is the one making the jokes now.”

“I guess I am.”

“I am liking that too”

“Let’s go, we have much more to be seeing.”

“Okay.”

--- ---

“Why is Leenie crying and blubbering?”

“Oh, Gebble! It is Hagrid giving Harry Potter a wonderful present.”

“Why is this present so good?

“It’s Harry Potter’s parents holding Harry when he is still only size of a house-elf.”

“This is good?”

“Oh, it’s more than being good. It’s Harry learning more about his place in things.”

“Gebble has always known his place.”

“I know this, I am knowing too, but he is never knowing.”

“How is someone to live not knowing their place?”

“I am not knowing Gebble. I am not knowing…”

“Leenie?”

“Yes?”

“I is blubbering now, too.”

--- ---

“How come we is only looking on days where small things are happening?”

“Dumbledore is saying that in small moments we are learning truest things about Harry Potter.”

“Is Harry knowing his place now?”

“He is not fully knowing, but he is learning more and more.”

“Why is Harry Potter holding Her-monee’s hand and watching her so much?”

“She is being true friend to him and he is worrying very much about her.”

“Why? She is going to be fine soon.”

“Because, silly, Harry is not knowing that yet. He is thinking he might be losing her and this is making him afraid.”

“We should be telling him not to worry.”

“I am wishing we could Gebble, but that is against what we are being told. Harry is learning new things to be feeling. Afraid is not something he is feeling much before. Afraid is only happening when you are realizing that something that is good, can be taken away from you.”

“I am happy that I am not having anything.”

“You are having much things that can be taken away from you Gebble.”

“I am not owning anything!”

“What if I was telling you that I could take away your place in things? What if you had no place in the world? What if there was no more work for you to be doing?”

“Don’t be saying such things, Leenie! You are making my heart to be hurting.”

“Then you are understanding then?”

“Yes, I am guessing maybe a little.”

“Good. Dumbledore will be happy when we have so much to be telling him.”

“Are we almost through?”

“I am thinking we are close. There is still a thing we are missing about what is making Harry Potter who he is. We must find this thing.”

--- ---

“Leenie? I am worrying about Harry Potter.”

“Why is that?”

“He is so happy to learn about Sir-us Black, but he is not going to be being here forever.”

“No, he will be leaving Harry. Leaving him long before Harry is ready for him to be leaving.”

“Her-monee and Wheezy will be helping him, but I am thinking that he is needing more than just helping.

“But what Geeble? That is what I am not knowing. What is he needing? What can we be telling Dumbledore about our Harry Potter?”

“Leenie? I want to be going now. I want to be going to when Harry is learning more.”

“Okay, we’ll be going now. I think I am knowing where.”

--- ---

“Why are we waiting here Leenie?”

“I am thinking that he will be here shortly. It takes a long time to be walking around entire lake.”

“There he is Leenie! He is coming with Her-monee.”

“I am seeing him. They are talking about things.”

“Harry is worrying very much lately.”

“Yes, Harry is worrying very much. I am seeing that Her-monee is the one he is talking to when he is worrying all the time.”

“Yes, and soon Harry will have to talk to Her-monee every day all the time, because he will not stop worrying at all.”

“Geeble…”

“Yes, Leenie?”

“I am thinking that your joke is not just joking. Maybe I am understanding something.”

“What are you understanding?”

“Come Geeble, I want to see one more thing before we go back to Dumbledore.”

“I am happy we are almost done. I am wanting to go back to working. I am not liking time-turning so much. It is very much too confusing.”

--- ---

“It is very cold being out here Leenie!”

“Shhh Geeble… are you hearing that?”

“….yes… I am hearing Harry Potter is crying. Why is he sitting with a cloak being on his head?”

“He is not being seen when he is wearing his cloak.”

“Look Leenie… it is Her-monee. She is coming to find Harry Potter.”

“She is hearing him. She is taking his cloak off his head. She is comforting Harry Potter.”

“Her-monee is always good at comforting Harry Potter.”

“Yes Geeble, I am seeing now she has always been being good with our Harry.”

“Her face is being very soft when she is looking at him.”

“Yes, I am thinking she is feeling soft on the inside, because she is caring very much for Harry Potter.”

“I am wanting to go back to our warm kitchens now, Leenie.”

“Yes, yes. I am ready now. I am ready to be telling Dumbledore all these things.”

“Then we can go back to our place... wait, what will you be telling Dumbledore?”

“Humans and House-elves are needing exact same things. We all are needing to know our place and we are also needing to know who we belong to…”

“But, who does Harry Potter belong to?”

“He is not belonging to anyone. That is why he is sad… and angry. Humans must choose who they are belonging to. Let’s go back to Dumbledore now”

--- ---

“I have learned many things about our Harry Potter. He is needing to know two important things for him. He needs to know where his place is and who he is belonging to… and I am knowing the answer now. To answer the first I am needing to answer the second. Harry must needs to belong to Her-monee. She is kind and has softness with him, and is making him feel safe, and giving him all things that he is needing. So, his place in all things is being easy to answer. Like House-elves place is with who we belong to. If Harry will belong to Her-monee, then his place is always with her. Then Harry will not be being as sad. I think that then he will start to be becoming who he is truly meant to be. Belonging to Her-monee will make Harry Potter whole. I hope that I am making you, Master Dumbledore, happy with what I am learning…

…Gebble? What is being wrong?”

“I am not knowing, but I am blubbering again and I am not knowing how to stop.”

“Take my hand… I will show you where you are belonging.”

{sniff} “I am thinking that if Leenie is being there, then I am knowing where I belong.”
