2. Chapter 1 Vampire slayer
For disclaimer, author notes
Prolong
As long as there have been vampires,
there has been the slayer.
One girl in all the world, to find them where they
gather and stop the spread of evil and the
swell of their numbers.
She is the slayer
A young girl of 15 walked down the street of her homeland, she had long curly brown hair and deep brown eyes; she was currently wearing dark jeans, boots, a t-shirt and her demin jacket.
She sighed as she reached the park, she walked over to the swings, sitting on them while pushing herself as she looked into the star filled sky as she thought about her best friends and her school and her destiny.
Ronald Weasley was one of her best friend, if she had to describe him, she would tell you that he was the most stubborn, sometime loyal person she had ever met, he was very protective of her and his sister, Ginny Weasley. He had a great sense of humour, a great stomach as he could go on eating for ages, he was sometimes jealous and let that jealously get in the way of what was true, like his friendship and he also had a great temper, he could blow up like a cannon any time without any warning.
Her other best friend was Harry Potter, the boy who lived. She snorted in disgust at the title, to her Harry wasn’t the boy who lived; he was the boy who was her best friend, the one who went through hell because of everyone. Everyone was convinced that he was a frame-seeking nut; even Ron believed it in their fourth year. She shook her head sadly, Harry had lost his godfather before the summer began and he had been sent straight to the Dursley’s, she mentally cursed Dumbledore for sending him there, Harry needed to be around people who loved and cared for him, not people who belittled and abuse him, making him feel like he was unworthy.
There was a rustle behind her, she didn’t even move, just continued on swinging. Soon the noise came a little closer and she jumped onto the swing, forcefully swinging backward, hitting the intruder in the chest which sent them flying backward on to the ground. She jumped off the swing backward, landing on her feet with her hands curled into fists, waiting for the fight.
The intruder stood up back up, wiping at their mouth.
“Very good little girl.” A male voice snarled.
“I’m not a little girl and just you wait and see how good I am.” She replied with a smirk, the male lunged at her which provoked her spinning into a roadhouse kick, he groaned as he shook his head, the girl ran forward and did a back flip, kicking him squarely in the chin which knocked him to his back.
The girl stood back, not wanting the fight to end, she felt her blood boiling up with so much rage to quickly finish it. The guy stood back up, he growled as he stood into the moonlight, she could see that his face had been deformed, his eyes were pure yellow while fangs bared from his mouth.
“Come on then, come and get me.” She taunted, the guy chuckled as he ran toward her once more, this time she stepped to the side, blocking the punch that was coming toward her stomach. She grabbed the hand, twisting it while stepping around so she ended up behind the guy, pinning his arm up against his back, she stepped back a little and threw a kick; sending him flying forward, he hit his head off the pole of the swings.
The vampire stood up, growling, he was no longer chuckling, he knew what he wanted and he was going to get it.
“That was a mistake little girl.” He snapped.
“Ohh, I’m so shaking in my boots.” She retorted.
“You should be.” He growled while running toward her that she dropped down to her knees; swinging a foot out, she tripped him up. “You bitch!” He snarled but she just smiled as he got back and made another run at her. She got bored, all she wanted to do was get home so she plucked something from her waist, with a flick of her wrist the object went sailing into the air, neatly guillotine the vampire head right off. The body exploded into dust as the object flew back into her hand.
“I’m good!” she stated with a smile before placing the object back in its rightfully place by her hip before setting off.
The reason why? She was the Vampire Slayer.
Chapter 1: Vampire slayer
Hermione Granger woke up to sunlight hitting her face, she sighed as her eyes blinked opened.
“Hermione, Breakfast!” her mother shouted, she grinned as she stepped out of her bed and headed down the stairs with Crookshanks following her.
“Hi sweetie, have a good night sleep?” Hermione greeted him as she picked him up, Crookshanks just purred in her arms, which caused Hermione to giggle.
“Hi Honey, have a goodnight sleep?” Jane asked and Hermione nodded.
“The best, how about you mom?”
“Not so good, you know, after your father…” Jane trailed off, Hermione nodded. Her father had died first week into the holiday, he had died of a heart attack; it was so sudden that it shocked everyone.
“I know mom, I miss him too, and” Hermione stated “Just like what Dumbledore told me, the ones that loves us never truly leave us, even if they are dead.” Hermione explained, Jane smiled at her daughter, she was grateful that she hadn’t lost her daughter to the attack that had happened to her before the holidays.
“Have you heard from Harry lately?” Jane asked; Hermione just shook her head.
“No, I think that his uncle might be stopping the letters or he can’t be bothered answering right now.” Hermione murmured thoughtfully.
“Why don’t you invite him up for the summer?” Jane asked which caused Hermione looked at her mom with a shocked/excited look.
“Really? Are you sure?” she squealed and Jane laughed.
“Of course I’m sure! Like you said, I think he need to be around people who love and care about him, just like you said and I don’t think he would like to go back to his godfather’s place this year after what happened to the poor boy.” Jane explained and Hermione jumped up from her seat, hugging her mother.
“Thank you, Thank you!” she squeaked before rushing up the stairs to write a letter to Harry.
********
Harry was lying in his bed in his room, staring at the ceilings, all his opened letters laid on the desk next to his bed, he couldn’t be bothered writing back to them, not while he was still feeling all the guilt. He sighed as he turned on his side and saw the empty cage, Hedwig had gone out for a flight earlier and still hadn’t returned.
Soon his thoughts had turned to his female best friend, from the letters he had received from her he knew that she was fine but couldn’t help but feel that she was holding something back from him, like something had happened but wasn’t telling him.
*********
Hermione scribbled her note down, rolled it up and tied it carefully to Hedwig.
“Give that to Harry and peck him till he answers this letter okay girl?” Hermione asked, Hedwig nodded before taking flight, Hermione sighed as she watched the owl disappear out of sight before heading for a shower, wondering what Harry would say.
*********
Harry heard tapping noises, he looked around until his eyes rested on the windows where his owl was flying; he smiled brightly at seeing her before hurrying open the windows.
“Hey girl.” Harry greeted, she just hooted as she stuck her leg out, Harry sighed before removing it; he opened it and read the letter.
“Hey Harry,
Mom wants to know to you if you can come up here and stay the rest of the summer here. I agree with her that it would be better, so give me an answer soon and I will collect you.
Hermione xx”
Harry sighed as he placed the letter on the desk before lying back on his bed, Hedwig hooted as she settled on the bed next to him and started pecking him.
“Ouch! Hedwig!” Harry exclaimed, she took no noticed of him excepted she placed a talon on the letter then started pecking him. “I get it, I get it, she told you to peck me till I answered didn’t she?” Harry asked, Hedwig hooted while bobbing her head, Harry rolled his eyes and plucked a quill from his ink well. “Fine, fine.” Harry muttered as he wrote his answer on a piece of paper, he rolled it up and tied it to Hedwig leg. “Off you go girl, come back soon.” Harry sighed as he stroked the back of Hedwig’s feather before she flew off; he shook his head as he started packing his stuff up
*********
Hermione came out of her shower, she wrapped her towel around her before looking into the wardrobe, there was a tapping noise at her window; she spun around and smiled when she saw Hedwig.
“He replied.” She stated with a huge grin as she opened the window and removed the letter, she smirked when she saw Harry’s reply before squealing with delight as she ran down the stairs.
Jane, who was, currently, in the living room reading the papers, yanked her head up at the sound of her daughter’s squeals.
“What is it?” Jane asked as she stood up when her daughter skidded on the wooden floors, just outside the living room doors.
“Harry agreed to come up!” Hermione shrieked out before squealing once more, Jane laughed at the delighted look on her daughter’s face.
“That’s great, why don’t you go and get ready, reply back to him, tell him that we will pick him up at five so he can have dinner with us.” Jane suggested, making her daughter squeal once more before hugging her mother and rushing back up the stairs.
Jane laughed once more as she headed into the kitchen to clear up.
*********
“BOY! Get your butt down here now!” a male voice bellowed, Harry rolled his eyes before heading down the stairs.
“Yes uncle Vernon?” Harry asked as he reached the stairs.
“Clean the bloody kitchen!” Vernon snapped before turning back to his papers, Harry sighed as he headed into the kitchen, there was a tapping noise from the kitchen’s window, he turned around, stunned to see Hedwig again.
“I had only sent you away!” Harry exclaimed before opening the windows, Hedwig hooted as she settled herself on the kitchen’s chair and stuck her leg out. “Thanks girl.” Harry praised as he took the letter, he unrolled it and beamed as he read the time that they were arriving at his house to collect him. “Yes!” He whispered, pumping a fist before heading back into the living room. “Uncle Vernon?” Harry asked.
“What?” Vernon grunted.
“My friend is coming to pick me up at five today.” Harry stated as Vernon took a sip of his tea only to spat it back out in shock.
“What?!” Vernon demanded, “If you think I’m letting those bloody red haired…”
“No, It’s another friend, their parents are completely normal!” Harry jumped in, Vernon cooled.
“Normal? What do you mean normal?” Petunia asked.
“They are dentists.” Harry explained and they both smiled with relief.
“Fine,” Vernon reluctantly said, “Make sure you finish the kitchen before anything else!”
“Yes Uncle Vernon.” Harry stated before heading into the kitchen, making sure he hid smile.
**********
Hermione walked up toward the Dursley’s front door, she looked around first before knocking.
Dudley answered the door only to be stunned by the girl in front of him, she was wearing tight black jeans and a red halter top and boots; her normal bushy hair was straight.
“Hel…Hel…hello?” Dudley stuttered out, his brain not being able to form a single word.
“Hi, I’m here for Harry Potter.” Hermione asked, Dudley scowled but Hermione didn’t notice because her eyes had latched onto the figure behind him. “Harry!” Hermione squealed as she pushed Dudley to the side before jumping into Harry’s arms.
Harry laughed with delight at seeing his best friend once more while wrapping his arms around her body.
“I missed you.” He whispered.
“I missed you too.” Hermione sighed into his neck before pulling away. “Do you have all your stuff? Mom is outside, waiting for us.”
“Yeah I packed it all ages ago.”
“Come on then!” Hermione ordered as she grabbed his arm, pulling him out of the door to meet her mother, Harry just laughed as Hermione dragged him out of the door. “Mom!” Hermione shouted as Jane stepped out of the car “This is Harry, Harry this is my mom, Jane.” She introduced.
“Hello Harry, it’s great to finally meet you.” Jane greeted with a smile.
“Its to meet you too.” Harry greeted with a soft shy smile.
Jane noticed that they both were holding hands and smiled brightly.
“Why don’t you two get in the car so we can get home?” Jane asked, both kids nodded as Harry placed his trunk in the boot before opening the door to let Hermione in first then settled him in. Both of them settled down before Hermione reached over and clasped Harry’s hand in hers, Harry turned to face her.
“Everything will be fine.” She whispered with a small smile, for the first time, Harry allowed himself to relax and believe her words as he looked out of the window, as the car started moving toward the Granger’s house.
