Harry Potter and the Alucinor Dicio

4. Chapter Four

Disclaimer: I have nothing, J.K. Rowling has everything, and I stole from L.J. Smith too! Just the idea of course, but at least Rowan's mine!

Chapter 4 – It's my party...

Harry ran out into the hall in search of Dumbledore. How do I even know he's here at.. Harry glanced at his watch, 3 am!! Happy birthday, Harry, here have a nightmare Harry thought wryly. Harry looked in the first place he thought of for Dumbledore, the study, and was somehow unsurprised to find Dumbledore sitting front of the fire in long purple robes, looking for all the world as though he expected Harry to come running in at 3 am. Which he probably did, knowing him Harry thought.

“ Sir, I needed to talk to you about the dream I had tonight.” Harry rushed out. Dumbledore looked up from conjuring up some tea, his eyes twinkling.

“ Sit down, Harry, sit down.” he said gently. “ I had rather hoped this wouldn't come up until tomorrow, but I never should have doubted Lily's accuracy in the matter.” Dumbledore spoke this almost as if to himself, but was aware Harry was listening intently. “ You see, Harry, I never meant to keep this from you. Rowan didn't want to tell you until your 16th birthday, and as she has almost all the information, I agreed with her proposal. But I will tell you what I do know Harry” Dumbledore commented seeing the familiar look of ire rising on Harry's face.

“ Exactly what was my mother accurate about, sir? And who is Rowan?” asked Harry, who was, to say the very least, impatient for answers.

“ Well, Harry I will answer both your questions with the little knowledge I have. Harry, Lily was a Seer. I know this will surprise you, since no one mentioned it, but very few people knew. Just myself, James, Lily and her best friend Rowan Silva. Lily kept it from everyone else for fear that Voldemort would discover her power and try to use it to his advantage. Her accuracy that I refer to was in her prediction that came after the prophecy was revealed to her. That prediction was that dormant powers would begin to awaken in you upon your turning 16. I do not know what powers she spoke of, but Rowan does. Now on to the second question, I think. Would you care for some tea, Harry?” Dumbledore paused to question.

“ No thank you sir.” Harry answered automatically, his mind a million miles away. My mother... a Seer. Is this true? And why wouldn't she leave my some warning?

“ Now to continue on, I will tell you all I know of Rowan Silva. She started Hogwarts with your mother. They met and became immediate friends, despite the fact that Rowan was a Slytherin and your mother a Gryffindor.” Harry started at this. “ I know that you think that unusual, Harry but you must remember that not all Slytherin's turned out bad. Rowan was an extremely intelligent witch, one of the brightest in her class. She and your mother were inseparable until your mother's dying day, Harry. Upon having her vision, Lily documented it and others in her journal and gave it to Rowen to safe keep until you turned 16. The fact that your mother did this suggests that her vision contained much more than she told me. Rowen is due to arrive here tomorrow, well, I suppose that would be this evening now. She will be bringing the diary with her.” Dumbledore stated. “ She will, I am sure be able to answer any questions you have, as Rowen will have more intimate knowledge of your mother's powers than I.”

Harry slowly blinked, as if trying to take it all in. He stared into the fire trying to grapple with his thoughts. Only one stood out, if she was my mother's best friend, why have I not met her until now? Harry voiced this very thought to Dumbledore, who chuckled softly.

“ Ah Harry, you do seem to have the talent for always asking the questions I cannot answer. At least I can comfort myself with the fact that this story is not mine to tell, it is Rowen's and it would be unjust of me to attempt to tell it for her. Now Harry can you tell me about this dream of yours?” asked Dumbledore. Harry related it back to Dumbledore, included the strange lack of feeling, which Dumbledore seemed to find particularly interesting. He seemed unsurprised however, to find out about the defection of the giants and trolls. “ If I were to venture a guess Harry, I would believe that Voldemort was not aware of you tonight, and that is why you did not feel his feelings or have your scar pain you. It is, at best, a guess, and we will not truly know until Rowen arrives. Until then, Harry all I can suggest is rest.” Dumbledore stood up from his chair. Harry stood as well.

“ That's it sir? Just go back to sleep?” Harry asked incredulously Dumbledore just chuckled at Harry.

“ It makes no sense to stay up all night contemplating something which will not be resolved until tomorrow. Goodnight Harry.” And with that Dumbledore softly vanished from sight. Harry sat and stared into the fire, thoughts crowding his head until he heard a noise by the door, and looked up to see Hermione sheepishly standing there.

“ I heard you get up, and followed you downstairs Harry. I didn't mean to overhear! I swear! I'm so sorry Harry!” she exclaimed apologetically. Harry watched her trying to stumble over an explanation and just started to laugh at her.

“ Calm down Mione! It just saves me the time and trouble of waking you to tell you! I would have gone up shortly too, and I obviously would have woken you up since Ron sleeps like the dead anyway!” Harry didn't add what he was thinking which was that he would have told Hermione first regardless if it was four am or pm. For just a short second, Harry felt a disappointment at not being able to wake her. This thought threw him off so much he didn't speak for several minutes.

“ So what do you think, Harry?” asked Hermione, who had assumed his silence was due to his thoughts of Lily.

“ I honestly don't know Hermione,” said Harry, as he scootched over to make room for her to sit down on the love seat. “ I almost don't want to think about it until I speak to this Rowen. Seems kind of pointless to get worked up without all the facts.” Hermione silently agreed with this statement, perhaps her logic was rubbing off on Harry in some ways. The two teenagers sat staring into the fire in comfortable silence.

“ Harry?” Hermione queried. He looked up at her. “ Happy Birthday.” she said softly. Harry smiled at her, nodding his thanks, then turned to stare at the fire. It wasn't long before the two of them dropped off to sleep.

Oh, my neck! Harry thought as he woke up. He blinked blearily, surprised he could see, and then remembered he had fallen asleep with his glasses on. That'll leave a mark. He looked down to see Hermione curled up next to him. He called her name softly, “ Mione”. She didn't move so he said it again, louder. She started, sitting bolt upright and looking around. Harry felt the loss of her warmth, and her presence?

“ Oh!” Hermione jumped up. “ We need to get upstairs before anyone else wakes up!” She walked over to the door with Harry following reluctantly. As they walked up the stairs Harry saw her rotate her neck a few times. “ I'll see you at breakfast Harry?” she asked, pausing at the door to her room.

“ Of course!” Harry answered back. “ I couldn't very well miss two meals in a row! Mrs. Weasley would kill me!” he laughed. Harry continued on to his room to find Ron awake. Ron looked up when he entered with an earnest expression on his face.

“ Harry, I.. uh... I wanted to tell you, that.. uh.. Idon'tlikeHermioneanymore! So if .. uh.. you were worried about that, it's all in the past mate! I mean, seriously, it was kinda like liking my sister, it was a little creepy. But I wanted to let you know, so there were no problems.” Ron stated all this while looking very intently at his bedspread. Harry made a small choking sound, and Ron looked up to see a look of amazement on Harry's face.

“ Ron, WHY would you think you needed to tell me that? I mean I knew you liked her in fourth year, but I kinda saw it start to go away last year. Hermione is my friend, you didn't hurt her, therefor I don't have to hurt you, so why would we have a problem?” Harry protested. What's that line about protesting too much? Stop it Potter! Ron just stared at him and shook his head.

“ So where were you just now?” he asked, mildly curious. At this Harry, extremely thankful for the topic change, began to fill Ron in on the night's happenings. “ I agree with Dumbledore, Harry. Maybe your dreams will be different now! It would be wicked, plus no more Occulmancy with Snape!” Ron grinned. At this pleasant thought, Harry began grinning too, one could only hope.

After an hour or two spent with Ron tromping Harry in chess, the two went downstairs for breakfast. Harry stopped in shock at the threshold when everyone yelled “ Surprise!” Remus, Tonks and Moody were there, along with Mr. And Mrs. Weasley, Ginny, Fred and George, and Hermione all beaming at him. The kitchen was fully decorated with balloons and streamers in crimson and gold, and a banner proclaiming Happy Birthday Harry in a booming voice that sounded suspiciously like Fred's.

“ Sorry, mate, I was sworn to secrecy,” laughed Ron. “ I had to keep you busy for a while, and let me tell you, it was torture trying to drag that game out that long. I haven't had to play that badly in a while!” Harry glared at Ron, before dissolving into laughter. He circulated the room, being wished a Happy birthday more times that he had in his whole life, he thought.

Finally they sat down to breakfast which Molly had filled with Harry's favorite foods. Everyone was talking and laughing, arguing amongst themselves. The whole room seemed alight with joy. At that moment Hermione turned to say something to Harry a smile lighting up her face, so that he had no choice to grin back. This is definitely my next Patronus memory, thought Harry.

At last the time for presents came, Harry opened them eagerly finding the usual rock cakes from Hagrid, a new jumper from the Weasleys, along with chocolate fudge, homemade. Ron had gotten him his usual Chocolate frogs along with a Seekers Guide to Short Matches: Finding the Snitch Faster than Ever before. Fred and George had of course supplied him with all the latest Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes products ( “ not even on the shelf, yet Harry!”). Remus had given him a foe glass, and Tonks a book on Auror Training. Moody had given him a book entitled Hard to Find Hexes. Harry for some reason arrived at Hermione's present last, which was a necklace with a pendant of Merlin on it. He thanked everyone for the gifts.

On his way upstairs, Hermione caught up with him and explained that she had pendants for her and Ron as well, and when Harry took it and said Adoro and then either Ron's or Hermione's name they would be able to speak to each other at all times. Purely precautionary, of course. Harry secretly thought this was brilliant, especially as they would be wearing them all the time. He gave Hermione a hug, and they both went to lay down for a while to catch up on sleep.

That evening Harry, Ron and Hermione were gathered in front of the fireplace speaking about their imminent O.W.L. Results and what they wanted to buy at Diagon Ally that year, when there was a soft knock at the door. Dumbledore entered.

“ Harry, it is time. Rowen is here. Shall I just bring her in here then and save you the time of having to retell it to Ms. Granger and Mr. Weasley later, then?” Dumbledore questioned with a twinkle in his eye. Harry looked at Hermione and Ron , and they silently communicated that they would both stay if Harry wished.

“ Alright, sir, bring her in here please.” Harry stated. Dumbledore motioned to someone standing behind him in the hall. Harry's eyes widened with shock as the women who had laughed at Voldemort in his dream walked into the room.

“ Harry, this is Rowen Silva...”
