A/n: Okay. Another pep talk simply because the idea that H/Hr may never happen paired with Snape killing Dumbledore, and Harry getting with Ginny while Ron and Hermione figure out each other's feelings has finally gotten to most of us. Now I've read this interview that has most of y'all in an uproar, but you know what? It don't matter. I really don't give a damn what JKR thinks we are(as H/Hr shippers).
But that's not what's spurred this pep talk. I just got done reading the latest chapter on "HP and the War of Shadows" by madscientist and the author note at the end.... just stunned me. He seemed so disheartened, like he was just told that Santa Clause didn't exist. Personally I think that madscientist is one of the best authors, portkey or otherwise, and if he's feeling like his world's been shattered then what are the rest of you thinking? Yes Harry didn't end up with Hermione in Book 6, yes JKR left it off at Ron and Hermione's 'true' feelings undeclared, but when has that ever stopped us? I mean come on! We don't ship the most powerful wizard and the smartest witch to not learn a few things about breaking rules, now have we?
Besides, how many of you who are married found your loved one in your first or second boy/girlfriend? I'm guessing less than half. And if the whole series is normal by any standards, it'd be romance. It's like trying on clothes at the mall. You (obviously not the Y chromosome) may very well go through two or three sizes till you find one that fits. Why can't this be the same way? Because it's Harry Potter? All the more reason the lover's type of love he will feel for whoever at the end has to be real! And it can't be real until he goes through the trial and error process.
On another note, to those of you who think that we should just stop writing, reading or simply believing that this particular ship could ever come to pass, well then why in the hell are you reading this in the first place?! You should be on a R/Hr or H/G site because it's "canon". I meant what I said before about getting others to see things our way because if, and this is a BIG if mind you, if H/Hr does not happen; then I'm going to go down with my ship swinging and fighting the entire way. Not being in denial that H/G or R/Hr didn't happen, but that H/Hr could never happen after the series ends. If God gave you the gift to write H/Hr fics then why stop just because it isn't canon? Do you have ANY idea how many fics are on Fanfiction.net and other sites that are completely and entirely AU to their original series, book, song, show, movie, whatever??????? Thousands. Those people didn't stop writing just because it wasn't canon. Sure some of them probably write worth dragon dung, (I wouldn't know I have read maybe three total) but they still write, despite what is really going on. Sometimes they make light of situations they don't like. Like Hermione Potter here on Portkey. She's writing a really good fic that starts after Book 6, acknowledges all of Book 6's events (good and bad) and she's getting Harry to start noticing Hermione. It's called "Harry Potter and the Power He Knows Not". Read it. You might actually like something that could be not canon.
By the way madscientist, you weren't the entire reason I wrote this whole spiel. Just the straw on the Hippogriff's back that's all. Keep writing past your current fic. Please. You are a genius with the series, honestly. I do believe that quite a few people would be happier with Snape than you if you stopped after this story. If you didn't plan on it, sorry, that was just the idea I got from your author's note.
Whatever may happen, we Harry/Hermione shippers will always have our imagination and our wits!
