Someday We'll Know

2. Chapter Two: The Memory -Part Two-

“Finally! The bloody traffic is moving. Better get my arse down to Seamus before he threatens to fire me again…” muttered Ginny to herself after being stuck in the morning traffic to work. Living in Muggle London had its benefits, but she wished that something was done about the traffic!

The song was already at its end but somehow she couldn't forget it. Was this what she really wanted? A life that had nothing to do with her magical past and the man she so wanted back with her? She contemplated this as she parked in the garage below the offices above her which held a surprise for her.

“So, do we have a deal, Finnigan? You will advertise Malfoy Inc., but it will be for the magical population. I'm sure you've hired some muggleborns here, haven't you?” Draco asked.

“Aye. Actually, Ginny Weasley works here too.” Draco's always calm face registered slight shock. “Hired her about a year or two ago. I'm sure her influence with her family back at the Ministry will be a good investment in this.” answered Seamus.

“Ginny Weasley works here? Be sure she handles the account then. Wouldn't want anyone that's Muggle accidentally getting hold of the ads once they're done, now would we?” asked Draco, raising an eyebrow.

“Of course, I'll get Weasley right on it. Bertha!” Seamus shouted through his door, “See if Weasley's here yet. She's always late as she's always caught in the morning traffic. As in, ALWAYS.”

Draco wanted nothing more than to see Ginny and not have company with what he was to say to her. “I'll just go and meet her in her office. Show me the way.” Seamus got up and led him to the office two away from him. “Make yourself comfortable.” said Seamus and he left.

Draco sat down on the chair behind the desk. It looked neat enough, with scattered pieces of paper everywhere. Pictures on the desk were of her godchildren, from Harry and Hermione's to Ron and Luna's, playing at the Burrow. How she made the picture not move was not the issue, but how she had got them. Hadn't everyone he asked said they didn't know where she was? She must've told them not to tell, else she'd pull a Molly on them, mused Draco. He turned himself from the desk and stared at the wall behind him. Wonder where she is now.

She was actually on a very slow elevator. Why couldn't they fix these? she pondered. She could use magi - no, she swore she wouldn't. Not after what she had learnt about herself. She wouldn't. Her running away from the only world she had known came from this little known fact about her. If only it wasn't true, then she wouldn't have walked out on Draco that night…

*Flashback*

It was their anniversary. Well… not really. The date they celebrated was the day Draco had turned to their side, which was the first time Ginny regarded Draco in a new light, so this was a day that they knew was worth celebrating. Draco had planned it all out. They would go out for dinner and then end up, surprisingly, in each other's arms in their apartment.

Her mother had told her that before her date that night, she should come to home because she had something she needed to know. Ginny obeyed, not wanting the night ruined by an enraged Molly Weasley storming into a romantic evening just because she did not heed her mother's order.

She had come home, only to find the living room empty. She checked the clock, which held more faces now than when she had been in school due to all the nieces and nephews, and godchildren. She saw that her mother was home, as was her father. That's strange, Ginny thought, isn't dad supposed to be at work?

She wandered up the winding staircase and stopped short of her parents' room. They must be in here… I'd better - she suddenly heard a voice.

“A child will be born, different from the six before, and will inherit great power. She will bear the task of vanquishing the evil that befalls the world after the defeat of one feared through 2 decades. The partner will be of the Light, which will meet the child in the Dark. They are to be wed. They will be inseparable, for as one dies, the other follows. The child will be of sound mind and body, and will bring everlasting peace to this world.” said an ethereal voice.

Ginny had pressed her ear to the door when it had started, and now she had pushed the door open to reveal her mother, sobbing into her father's chest. She looked to the crystal that held the ethereal voice. It was the Lady of the Lake. Her form had dropped back into the crystal.

“Mum, dad? What was that? Who was it talking about? Was it talking about me?” she asked, hoping it wasn't her.

Her mother turned and walked toward her, engulfing her in a bone-crushing hug that would've rivaled Hermione's.

“Oh, sweetheart, I'm so sorry we only had the courage to tell you now. But just so you know, this was passed on in my family. I never would've thought that -“

“Wait,” Ginny interrupted, “You kept this from me? You kept the fact that I have to meet some guy I have to marry, and that if ever I were to die, or vice versa, the other would die? And you tell me this before I go on my anniversary date with Draco! Why, mother? Do you want me to be unhappy? To stay here and be your little girl forever until my knight in shinning armor gets here and sweeps me off my feet? I knew you didn't like Draco, but to go to such lengths to keep me away from him, on the one night that's actually special to the both of us!”

“Oh, honey, that's not it entirely! Didn't you hear what she said?” asked Molly.

“Yes I did, that I would meet the guy in the dark. How romantic.” said Ginny icily.

“What your mother is trying to say is - “ Arthur started.

“Know what? Never mind. I'm not in the mood to talk about this. Whatever this is, it can be dealt with later. I have something to do that's more important.” Ginny Apparated out of her parent's bedroom.

If only she had listened to what her father was about to say.

Now she was standing in her apartment. With everything she had just heard, all she knew was that she'd never be able to spend her life with Draco, if ever he actually proposed. She started to tear up. She look up at the clock and saw that Draco would be there for her in about an hour. She had to fix herself up for the last date she would ever go on with Draco.

Draco had come 5 minutes early and was confronted with a somber Ginny Weasley. She had stood up and kissed him, and took his hand. No worries. I know something that will make her go over the moon later. he thought to himself.

How am I going to tell him I have to break up with him? Ginny thought.

They Apparated to the restaurant they had gone to on their first date. Their dinner had gone on in silence. Draco kept glancing at Ginny, wondering why his almost always cheerful girlfriend was so blue. He knew he could fix that. Later though.

Finally dessert came. It was chocolate soufflé, Ginny's favourite. She had started to dig into it when she had hit something hard. She dug into the chocolate mass and revealed a diamond ring. She held it with her fingers and looked straight at Draco. He was smiling sheepishly.

“Good thing you didn't eat it then.” He stood up and moved beside Ginny and knelt down. “Ginny, I know we've being seeing each other for a year now and I just want you to know, I love you, no matter how many times I say it, it's just not enough. I can't remember the last time I felt so secure. Even when I was in the Dark, you were my Light. Make me the happiest man in this Wizarding World and say that you'll marry me, Ginny Weasley.”

Ginny looked at Draco and at the ring and started to cry. He had no idea… No clue. She had to do it now; else she'd regret it later. “Draco, I… I can't.” She put the ring on the table and Apparated back to their apartment. Draco stayed there, dazed. Did that just happen? Hadn't her parents told her? I have to find her.

He returned to their apartment to find it empty of her things. He Apparated to every place he could think of to find her. Then he Apparated to the Burrow and talked with Ginny's parents.

*Flashback*

Draco had drifted back to that particular memory and understood, after talking to Molly and Arthur, that they hadn't told her everything before she had left, despite their protests. He sighed. Two years. It had taken two years, and now he could finally straighten things out. If only she could get here.

Ginny entered her office to find someone sitting in her chair. As it had a long backrest, and she could not see the person's hair, she assumed it was Seamus, coming to kick her to the curb at last. *Sigh* Better get it over with. “Seamus, I'm really sorry, but really, the traffic in London is horrible! If you were -“she was interrupted.

“Yes, I was, but I got here earlier than you did.” Draco turned the chair. “Hello, Ginerva. Long time, hasn't it?”

Ginny stood still in shock. Draco Malfoy? In her office? Wasn't her past dead and buried? Then why was it staring at her in full color and was sitting in her chair? Wait a minute, sitting in her chair!

“What the hell are you doing here, Malfoy?” she asked.

“It's nice to see you too, Ginny. It's been… what? Two years? And no Floos… have you been avoiding me for the last two years?” he asked, standing up and closing the space between them with slow steps.

”N- No I haven't...” she noticed that while she was backing into her office, he kept taking steps toward her. It was until she got stuck in a corner that he stopped as well, inches away from her.

”What's wrong? I haven't done anything to you… yet.” he whispered into her ear.

”What are you going to do?” she asked breathlessly.

”Oh… I don't know… I haven't decided yet… but I have all the time in the world because I'm going nowhere.” he whispered.

”What do you mean `going nowhere'?” her temper was rising.

”
I just made a deal with Seamus. And this deal entitles you as the project manager, which will have to work with me on the deal. So, it seems we'll be seeing a lot of each other.” Draco drawled.

”WHAT!?! You made a deal with Seamus? And HE accepted?! All deals go through ME! How come I didn't know about it!?” Ginny's temper was rising now. She was mad. At Seamus… and at Draco.

”Well… I guess we're working together now. You're not getting away this time.” Draco drawled as he closed in on her.

”Well then…” said Ginny, gaining her composure after the mention of business. “I guess we should work out rules. I don't want you seeing my boyfriend - “

”YOUR BOYFRIEND!?!”

Author's Notes: Oh wow. Haha, same cliff hanger I used before. But oh well… I liked the way it worked so… nyahh! Anyway, hmm… review please!

And yeah, I will be working on “It All Started with a Kiss” as well.
