Even as life left Voldemort, Harry crumpled to the ground, his injuries, combined with all the curses and spells that had hit thier marks, came rushing back into his numbed body. He knew that he didn't have much time left in this world. His eyes darted fratically over the battlefield, looking, hoping, praying, that one of those bodies lying on the cold ground wasn't Hermione. He spotted her, and relief filled his body; she was running towards him.

"Hermione." He gasped. "There's something I have to tell you."

"Me too." She sobbed.

"Me first." She nodded, too distraught to do anything else.

You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.
I've kissed your lips and held your head.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I've been addicted to you.

"Goodbye, Hermione. I never wanted to leave you. I'm trying, trying as hard as I can to stay, but I can feel myself leaving, slipping away. But please, don't be sad. Go live your life, be my beautiful, smart, caring girl that I know and love. Don't cry for me- it'll be alright. Voldemort's gone, and you can live your life to the fullest. I love you, and want the best for you. I'll be watching your every move, guarding you from harm and guiding you towards love."

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

"I love you too. Oh, Harry. Don't leave me. Don't let go. I can't live without you. My world would be empty. You ask me not to mourn. Mourn what? Your smile, your eyes, your lips, your touch? Everything about you completes me Harry. You are my heart and soul, and you keep it beating. You can't leave me. Not now."

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer and when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.
I've watched you sleeping for a while.
I'd be the father of your child.
I'd spend a lifetime with you.
I know your fears and you know mine.
We've had our doubts but now we're fine,
And I love you, I swear that's true.
I cannot live without you.

"Hermione, it won't be long. Just hold my hand, will you? Tell Ron he's the best mate a guy could have. Tell the Weasleys that I love them as my family. Tell Lupin that he was like a father to me. And, my love, tell that sweet girl that I know is hiding somewhere behind those tears that I love her. She is my pride and joy, my goddess, my rock, and that I couldn't have done this without her. I love you Hermione Jane Granger. Don't ever forget it. Those tears break my heart. Try and smile for me one last time, something I can take with me. I'll be in good hands. I'll be with my parents and Sirius, waiting for you. For when you come, old and wise, I'll be waiting with open arms. Goodbye."

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

"I will Harry. I `ll tell everyone. I'll never forget. Because I love you Harry James Potter, and right now my heart is breaking into little pieces, and I can't think straight, but I love you. I always have. I always will. I'll never forget you. I'll try and live my life Harry, so that I can share all my stories with you when we meet again. Goodbye, Harry, my love. Goodbye."

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I'm asleep.
And I will bear my soul in time,
When I'm kneeling at your feet.

Hermione sobbed over his lifeless body, crying like she had been ripped apart. Her wails could be heard from miles around, and settled in the hearts of everyone who knew: the great Harry Potter was dead. Ron felt something roll down his face. Once he realized that they were tears, they started streaming unabashedly down into his hands, which were clenched into fists. They hit a brick wall, leaving his knuckles sore, bloody, and soaking wet. Lupin sat down with a heavy thud, and started to cry. His last connection with his best friends was gone, and he could feel the pain of losing James, Sirius, even Peter, coming back tenfold. Ginny just sat there, white as a ghost, quietly crying. Her black haired brother was gone. Fred and George came over, their eyes wet. They remembered helping him onto the train, rescuing him, recieving his winnings from the Triwizard Tournament. They sandwiched Ginny, hugging her hard, knowing that the pain they felt was doubled in her own. Slowly, the surviving Weasleys joined them, mouring the loss of their family, including Harry, as Hermione's sobs subsided into nothing. Ron went over to Hermione, and pulled her into his lap, where they sat, crying over the loss of their best friend.

Rain started to pour down, echoing the pair's grief. It washed away the dirt, blood, and horror of the battle, but even as Hermione and Ron ignored the water seeping into thier very souls, they knew that they would never forget the night that Harry Potter died.

Goodbye my lover.
Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow.
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow.
