AN: So, this is a short fanfiction that I've been working on lately. I'm usually doing it during school when I'm technically supposed to be learning

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. I do however own Evelyn and Sienna, my OC's.

James Potter woke up in the large bed in the Head Boy's room, feeling a shiver go through him. It wasn't a total surprise, as it was two days before Christmas Day. He got out of bed in the Head Boy's room and put on his robe, walking toward the window. It had been a total surprise when he got the badge in his letter but he liked having his own bedroom. He uncovered the curtains to find the whole of Hogwarts covered in snow, appearing to him a winter wonderland. He then shivered once more before deciding to get dressed.

He put on a pair of black jeans and a large red sweater over a green t-shirt. He put his shoes on and departed from the bedroom. As he reached the final steps he noticed that he was not the only one awake. It appeared that the Head Girl, Lily Evans, was awake as well. He made his presence known and Lily looked up at him, smiling calmly. James felt his heart flutter, as girlish as that sounded. He had had a crush on her since 4th year, although she had made it clear how much she despised him for the next two years. James however had grown up much over the summer before seventh year and when the two found out they were both heads, James proposed they call a truce. Lily, albeit wearingly, agreed and they had soon after became friends.

“Good Morning, James,” said Lily as she stood up. She had left her hair down for the day and was wearing a long-sleeved red t-shirt and a long beige skirt. She also wore holly earrings and had a green scarf in hand. James smiled at her.

“And a good morning to you, Lily,” he replied, “did you just wake up?” Lily nodded.

“Yes, I was just going to go down to the great hall for breakfast,” she replied.

“I'll join you if that's all right.” Lily nodded and the two went out the portrait hole and walked down to the great hall, talking the entire way.

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

The two entered the Great Hall. No one had stayed at Hogwarts for Christmas this year except for a couple of first years in Ravenclaw and a few third years in Hufflepuff. They saw the Marauders and Lily's friends seated at the Gryffindor table. Sirius Black was seated next to his steady girlfriend, and Lily's best friend, Evelyn Bristow while Remus was sitting and conversing with Lily's other best friend Sienna Raleigh, who was sitting across from him. Peter was not present as he had to go back home to his mother, who had recently grown ill. Lily and James both sat down next to Remus and across from Evelyn and Sirius who immediately smiled at their respective best friends.

“Hey James, Hey Lily,” said Sirius, “You two are up later than usual.”

“Sirius is right,” said Evelyn, “did something happen?” Lily and James shook their heads at their two best friends before replying.

“Nothing happened,” said Lily. “Yeah, guys, nothing. We just woke up late. Nothing wrong with that,” said James. Sirius and Evelyn looked at each other before shrugging their shoulders and continuing to eat.

“By the way Evelyn, I love your outfit. It's cute,” said Lily looking at her best friend who smiled in reply. She was wearing a knee-high black skirt with leggings and a cute red top with a white long-sleeved shirt underneath. She also had her long brown hair up in a makeshift ponytail, with locks of her hair hanging off the side of her face.

“Yep, that's my girl, the most beautiful woman around,” said Sirius as he wrapped his arm around her waist. Lily and Sienna smiled and thought it was so cute, while James and Remus were happy he'd finally found someone worth sticking with. Evelyn blushed as she hit Sirius's arm jokingly.

“Oh stop fooling around Sirius,” she replied, trying to hide the smile she had on her face. Sirius, noticing the smile, smiled back and attempted to lean in for a kiss when James, Lily, Remus and Sienna made a coughing noise to remind them where they were. Evelyn jumped and began to blush while Sirius appeared the epitome of cool. Lily shook her head and attempted to reach the sausages. When she could not reach them, James managed to grab the plat. He held it in front of her.

“Sausages, Lily?” he asked. Lily blushed and nodded as she grabbed the fork and placed a few on her plate. She then thanked him before commencing to eat the sausages. She glanced over at James one last time before she turned back to her food. Ever since she and James had formed their truce and became friends, she had started to have this feeling each time she was around him. It still surprised her how much he had grown up over just one summer. She remembered how much of a git he was when they were in fifth year. Lily had hated him so much back then, he was always asking her out and ruffling his hair and acting just like he was a god. It surprised her that now they were friends, and close ones at that. Although, she sometimes felt she may have wanted something more…

She shook her head slightly as she felt her thoughts drifting to a place she was deathly afraid of. For if she allowed her thoughts to drift, she feared she may admit something she didn't want to admit: a truth that has been building up in her for a while.

“Lily, you okay?” asked Sienna. Lily was starting to look slightly red and she had just gotten over the flu a couple of weeks ago.

“Are you ill Lily?” asked James as his face expressed the worry he felt for her. Lily looked at her friends, all worried about her, and then at James. She was shocked at the amount of emotion visible in his eyes. He then put his hand on her forehead, which caused her to blush even more, causing her friends to become even more worried for her. `Why am I feeling this way? It's just James,' thought Lily, `He is rather sweet but still. Could I really be… falling in love with him?' Lily mentally shook her head and smiled at them all.

“I'm fine, no need to worry about me,” she said as she attempted to take James's hand off her head. He however grabbed her hand in his and held it as he kept his other hand on her forehead, determined to find out if she really was okay. When James finally took his hand off her forehead, he smiled and spoke.

“Thank goodness. I thought you might have come down with another fever.” Lily smiled back.

“I'm fine, James. There really was no reason to worry,” she replied. Lily then noticed that his hand was still holding hers. It felt nice. She was amazed at how their hands fit so perfectly. James rubbed his thumb against her knuckles and it sent a shock up her spine. The whole time, James never took his eyes off her. He still could not believe he was friends with this beautiful young woman. He had always liked her as they grew up, first because of her appearance, and later because of her refusal to go out with him. A challenge, he had thought at the time. But as they grew older and he started to get to know her more, he saw she wasn't just a pretty face. She was kind, wise, and basically a wonderful person. Now that they were friends, he knew he was truly in love, something that had once scared him. He saw Lily stare back at him after staring at their joined hands. He stared back at her and then smiled before letting go of her hand and returning to his breakfast. Lily broke out of her daze as she went back to eating her food as well, beginning a conversation with Sienna.

Evelyn looked back and forth from her best friend to James as she pondered what had just occurred. Sirius watched his girlfriend as she observed their best friends. He saw a devious smile appear on her face and he wondered just what devious plan she was thinking up. Whatever it was, he had a feeling he was going to get involved in her plan somehow. His suspicions were confirmed when his girlfriend leaned in toward him.

“Hey Sirius,” she whispered into his ear. Sirius sighed.

“Yeah, Evy?” he asked using her well-known nickname. She looked up at him.

“Have you noticed anything strange going on between our two best friends?” Sirius looked at the two in question.

“James and Lily? Not that I can think of, no.”

“But did you not just see what happened? They were having a moment! I definitely think there is something going on between them,” she decided, “That or they're hiding something.” Sirius pondered over Evelyn's words.

“Yeah, I guess. So what's the plan Evy?” She smiled.

“See that's why I like you so much Sirius. You know exactly what I'm thinking!”

“I know you Evy. Now spill.” Evelyn shook her head.

“Uh, uh, uh! Later, I promise.” Just as Sirius was about to respond, Lily interrupted.

“What are you two whispering about?” she asked, looking suspiciously at the couple.

“Oh nothing,” they spoke together. Lily didn't buy it and continued to stare at them when Sienna interrupted.

“Lily, relax. I bet they're just exchanging sweet words at each other. They are a couple after all.” Remus and James both nodded as well. Lily sighed and agreed as she continued her conversation with Sienna, Evelyn getting into the conversation as well. But inside her mind, the wheels were turning as she finalized her plans.

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

Lily was in her bedroom, reading one of her favorite muggle books, Sense and Sensibility. Evelyn and Sienna opened her door suddenly. Lily looked up from her book and smiled.

“Hey girls,” she said as she saved her page with a bookmark, “What's up?” Evelyn closed the door as Sienna walked toward her bed.

“Oh, not much Lily,” said Sienna.

“Where are the guys?” asked Lily. Evelyn turned around.

“Out having a snowball fight,” replied Evy. Lily stared at her two best friends and pondered over their curious behavior.

“All right, what's up with you two?” she asked, “You two are acting very strange.” Evelyn smiled before looking at Lily.

“You're right Lily. We just wanted to talk to you about something,” said Evy as she sat on the edge of the bed. Sienna then shook her head.

“Oh no, don't drag me into this,” spoke Sienna, “Lily, I have nothing to do with this. Even though I agree with her.”

“What are you two talking about?” she asked.

“Mind explaining what happened in the Great Hall this morning?” asked Evy. Lily began to blush.

“I don't know what you're talking about,” said Lily. Evy and Sienna glanced at each other skeptically before both looking back at Lily.

“No, really? Well let me refresh your memory,” said Evy, “You're in the Great Hall. Sienna here asks if you're all right. James puts his hand on your forehead to check your temperature. You stare down before looking back up at him. You stayed that way for another ten minutes before James smiled and began to eat again. Memory refreshed yet?” Lily's blush grew even darker.

“At least you didn't see him holding my hand for the majority of the time,” she mumbled under her breath. Sadly for her, Sienna and Evelyn heard her. Their eyes widened considerably.

“Wait, you were holding hands?!” they yelled together.

“This is even better than I thought,” yelled Evy as Lily's blush grew even darker than before, “Do you like him?”

“What!” yelled out Lily, “Why would you even say that? How could I like James Potter? He's an insufferable git!”

“He's not a git anymore,” said Sienna. “You know he's different now and you know he's your friend now. So don't use that excuse anymore because you know that's not true anymore.”

“Sienna's right Lil,” said Evy, “We're your friends, Lily. Be honest with us here. Do you like James Potter?” Lily stared at her two friends before staring down at her sheets, the blush still lightly tinted on her cheeks. She contemplated her friends' question. Did she like James Potter? Sure they had called a truce and they were good friends now but did that mean she actually liked him? Sure he was a nice guy, nicer than he gave him credit for and he was very handsome. Her mind trailed off as she thought of the good qualities James had. Her mind suddenly snapped. She liked James Potter! No, she didn't just like him, she LOVED him! She had done what she'd always sworn she'd never do. She fell in love with James Potter. She put her head down on the pillow in her lap.

“I love him,” she whispered. Sienna and Evelyn strained to hear her voice.

“I can't believe it,” said Lily, astounded, “I love him.” The girls looked at each other with widened eyes before looking back at their friend.

“I love him.” She couldn't stop repeating herself. Evelyn and Sienna smiled, happy their friend had finally admitted her feelings for the Head Boy.

“What am I going to do?” asked Lily.

“What do you mean?” asked Sienna. Lily lifted her head up and stared at them.

“I just realized that I am in love with James Potter! How am I going to act around him now?”

“Just act like you normally do, Lils,” said Evy, “Who knows? Maybe he'll ask you out again like before.” Lily sighed and stared out the window, watching the boys' snowball fight as the girls gave her a hug, attempting to console their best friend.

“Hey Prongs,” yelled Sirius as they walked back to the Head's Dormitory where they were going to plan out the small Christmas party they were going to have on Christmas Eve.

“Yeah Padfoot,” yelled back James.

“Do you still like Lily?” he asked putting the first phase of Evy's plan into motion. James almost tripped over the stairs at the question.

“What are you talking about?” James replied, “I've gotten over Lily.” Sirius and Remus glanced at each other before both turned back at James.

“Then what happened in the Great Hall this morning?” asked Remus. James blushed slightly as he trudged up the stairs, ignoring the question. Sirius, exasperated at his best friend, stopped him from going up the stairs. He grabbed James' arm and dragged him down the stairs.

“James, come on,” said Remus as he followed them into the corner, “Just answer the question.” James looked at Remus and Sirius before looking down at the floor. He started to blush as he thought of Lily: her long, beautiful red hair; gorgeous green eyes that he often found himself dreaming of; a beautiful personality. She always made him smile, had a great sense of humor and an amazing figure. As he thought about Lily and the wonderful things about her, he sighed.

“Ugh,” he said as he sat on the floor, his head in his hands. He could no longer hide the truth, at least not from his friends anymore. Sirius and Remus looked at each other before squatting down onto the floor.

“What's wrong?” asked Remus. Sirius nodded his head, supporting James. James sighed.

“You're right,” he replied, “I'm still in love with her. And there's nothing I can do about it.” The confusion was added to Sirius and Remus' faces.

“I don't get it James,” said Remus.

“Yeah, me either. What do you mean you can't do anything about it?” asked Sirius.

“I can't love her! She doesn't feel the same way! I don't want her to break my heart again, especially now that we're such good friends and all. I can't ruin our friendship.”

“But what if she does like you?” said Sirius.

“She doesn't! I know,” he said, “Anyway, let's get on upstairs. The girls will be wondering where we are.” He got up and walked up the stairs, Remus and Sirius walking behind him.

“He's really depressed,” said Remus. Sirius nodded.

“Yeah. Let's talk to Evy. Maybe she and Sienna know something that we don't.” They rushed up the stairs to catch up with James, who appeared to be in a better mood by the time they reached the dormitory.

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

After they discussed their party for tomorrow, the six had gone down to eat dinner after which they accompanied James and Lily back to the Head's dormitory. Sirius, Evy, Remus, and Sienna then began walking to the Gryffindor dormitory.

“So did you two find out anything from James?” asked Evy.

“Yeah, he's still madly in love with her but-” began Remus before Sirius finished him off.

“But he thinks that Lily doesn't feel the same way so he's not going to bother.” Evy and Sienna looked sad.

“Does she like him?” asked Remus. Evy sighed.

“Lily admitted to us that she's in love with him,” replied Evy. Sirius and Remus looked shocked.

“She actually said the words?” asked Sirius. Evy and Sienna nodded.

“We have to get those two together,” declared Remus. Evy, Sienna, and Sirius nodded.

“But how?” asked Sienna. Evy smiled.

“I have an idea,” she said as Sirius began to smile as well. Maybe his best friend would get the girl of his dreams after all.

To be continued…
