"Because, when it came down to it, that was really what Hermione Granger was best at - finding ways to save Harry Potter."
---- This is a missing scene ficlet I did in March '05 for chapter 7 of OotP - short, but I felt, necessary, because really, the Hermione we all knew and loved wouldn't have just done nothing!

Set in the summer of seventh year, right after Half-Blood Prince. After finally realizing their feelings for one another, Harry makes Hermione swear that no matter what happens, she will remain strong and continue on with her life. But when the worse occurs, Hermione finds it harder and harder to keep her promise. Threatened with letting Harry down, Hermione runs away from it all, not realizing that sometimes you have to let your guard down in order to move on. Based on Michelle Branch's "Goodbye to You." EXCERPT: "I paused for a bit, unsure where to go from here. Did she understand now? Did she see that her devotion to him had been nothing short of, not to sound so cruel, a stalker? 'Would you die for him, Ginny?' I asked her finally. 'What?' Ginny looked confused. 'I asked you if you would die for him.' 'I…well…I mean…' Ginny rambled on. I closed my eyes. 'Like you would!' Ginny retorted bitingly."

"While some people would think that being perfectly logical would be limiting, that logic has boundaries that life shouldn't have, I am quite proud of my logic. I believe that life is far simpler if treated logically. That's not to say that I always act in what others might see as the most logical manner. It's simply generalizing that everything can be treated with logic, and it is what I prefer to do."
