Harry Potter and the Prophecy of Light and Dark

Disclaimer-I don't own Harry Potter and never will. I went back and fixed a few of the chapters where I made mistakes, like I was meant to say Parvarti instead of Padma and in the second chapter when they took the portkey, I fixed that up. Thanx to all my reviewers, I really appreciate the reviews. I'm sorry if I'm not writing fast enough, but I'm not always allowed on the computer and when I do I mostly write my stories or read everyone else's. So I'm trying to do as much as I can before I have to go back to the dreaded school.

Chapter Thirteen-Those Reptilian Beasts

All around the school that day you could catch glimpses of winged creatures, blowing fire at unsuspecting teachers, chasing students around the grounds and of Peeves floating crazily after the small reptiles making growling sounds and shouting, “I'm gonna get you, I'm gonna get you!”. Meanwhile the small baby dragon owned by a one Ronald Weasley had taken a liking to Professor Snape's greasy hair. When he and his two friends had entered the Great Hall that morning, the first thing Ron's dragon had done was squeal excitedly and launch itself into the Potion masters black hair, making purring sounds and snuggling into the deep black grease pile. Professor Snape was so furious that he accused Ron of setting the dragon on him, gave him several detentions and deducted twenty-five points from Gryffindor. Ron was so appalled at his dragon's behavior that he tried to rid himself of the winged beast, by dropping it out of the castle window, forgetting it could fly.

The other students only had their dragons until the end of the year, where they would introduce them into the forest and try and get a breeding program going for them. While Harry was stuck with his new found pet until death do them apart. It really didn't bother him, as he came in useful at lunch that day. Harry, Ron and Hermione were sitting under a tree by the lake, their dragons playing in front of them, when some unwelcome visitors joined them. Crabbe and Goyle, no longer with Malfoy, decided to get pay-back with Harry, for escaping their master.

They crept up behind them, and began reaching out to grab Harry from behind. When Crabbe's hand was a bout two inches away from the back of Harry's cloak, a black flash lashed out and snapped at his hand. The baby dragon had been sleeping around Harry's neck, camouflaged and peaceful. The three friends jumped around when they heard a pained yelp from Crabbe, who was swinging his hand around in circles, the small creature still latched onto his hand. They burst out laughing as they both took off up the grounds, three dragons in pursuit. This one moment lightened Harry's mood considerably, but made him think about Malfoy and why he was now more subdued of late.

The next few days passed pretty quickly, in that time they had another DA meeting, they began learning proper Dueling Skills in Dueling and Harry had another Occlumency lesson with Snape. Also that night they had to go and do some more on the Animagus Potion as the seven days were up. Only Hermione, Harry and Ron went to the Room of Requirement that night, since all they needed to do was add some more ingredients, stir and leave for three days. That was the day they all were looking forward to, that day was the day the potion would be ready to drink, the day they could finally transform into animals at random, as long as the potion was correct.

The day finally came for the long awaited potion drinking. Harry and Hermione had just finished adding the final ingredients and stopped stirring. It was now time for drinking it and making their Animagi forms become permanent. Each of the six held goblets in their hands, their fingers trembled holding onto the gold rims, the smell wafted up their noses. Harry took a deep breath and looked around at his friends, he nodded, and they all raised their goblets to their lips, drinking the steaming potion. It felt as though the Disillusionment Charm was placed on him, because it felt as though water was trickling down his head and covering his body. But then it began to heat up, until it became almost unbearable, then it stopped. The after taste was quite bad, tasting like onions and rotten eggs mixed together. He looked around at his friends; they were doing much the same thing.

`So, is that it?' asked Ron shakily. `I suppose so,' said Hermione looking back at the cauldron still full of the used potion. `So how do we transform?' asked Neville glancing around at them all, `Hang on, I'll try somehow,' offered Harry. He closed his eyes and began going through things he could try to transform. He pictured himself transforming into a wolf and stayed on that thought, after a moment or two he was successful as he felt a cold feeling soak through his skin. He opened his eyes to only see legs; he looked up into the surprised faces of his friends. They began cheering as Harry thought of changing back. Soon he was Seeing Eye to eye once more; he smirked and told them to just imagine themselves changing, which they did. Soon Harry was surrounded by an assortment of animals, then people once more. They all beamed at themselves, Hermione transfigured a goblet into a large mirror, and then told them all to change and look into the mirror at them selves. They all took turns at admiring themselves. Harry peered at the wolf in front of him, inspecting everything. He looked at his scar which had turned into a white marking, then into his eyes, now golden but still a viewfinder to his feelings.

The weeks passed quickly and soon it was the last day of term and almost the Christmas holidays. The dragons had grown noticeably larger; they now were roughly the size of a Beagle and fully grown. In the DA they had moved on to Patronus's again and Harry had gotten professor Lupin to help with that and they managed to find a Boggart for the more advanced students. In Charms everyone had finished the Morpheus spell and moved on to Summoning, which proved to be very difficult. In Transfiguration they had moved on to very large animals such as horses and cows, which Hagrid supplied. Also Harry and Hermione's kittens had grown into cats, and Ron had become rather fond of his dragon which he called Scorch. Hermione called her blue dragon Aqua and Harry had called his, which turned out to be a boy, Bolt. Hermione had suggested it, and he thought it kind of suited him. Also they had played two games of Quidditch, one against Ravenclaw and one against Hufflepuff and they had won both of them by at least a hundred points. After dinner on the Friday night, Dumbledore stood to say something, getting complete silence from the entire hall.

`After the success of the Yule Ball, we have organized a Christmas Ball, to be on Christmas Eve. It will be open to all years, unlike the Yule one. Dress Robes and dresses will be worn, food will be provided. Also The Weird Sisters will be playing once more.' Dumbledore sat back down leaving the girls whispering excitedly about how great it was to be having another ball. But Ron was groaning about having to ask a girl out again and Harry was sure he kept seeing his best friend occasionally glance over at the Ravenclaw table, at a particular blond haired girl. Harry smirked and nudged Hermione without Ron noticing, she grinned mischievously when she caught onto what Ron was doing. That night they had organized to test their Animagi forms once more by going out into the grounds and maybe to Hogsmeade.

If you were to look out upon the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, at around nine o'clock the last day of term, you would get quite a shock. Because upon the sloping lawns, making their way to the front gates of the castle, was an assortment of animals. In the lead was a black wolf, hardly visible in the night's light, trotting next to him was a dark brown mare, with a small mole clutching at its mane. An orangutan was making its way on all fours trying to keep up while a sly fox bounded beside them, in the air was a white speck that was a dove. They were making their way to the small town of Hogsmeade to explore the darkened streets and shadowy stores; their only company was the night air. It was reaching midnight by the time they made their approach back to the school, the night behind them held fun filled hours of frolicking in the streets and playing immature games of hide-and-seek, where everyone else hid while Harry used his wolf sense of smell to track them down. But now it was time to return to the safety of their dorms before someone found them missing or noticed an assortment of animals wandering across the grounds.

Soon it was Christmas Eve and the day of the ball. Harry and Hermione had forced Ron into asking Luna Lovegood to the ball, which went well, considering they both met at the same time and asked the same thing, causing them both to blush profusely. But when Ron asked who they were going with they said it was secret and a surprise, causing suspicion to grow in Ron. They were out in the grounds having a rough snowball fight; it was Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville against Dean, Seamus, Ginny and Colin. And it seemed as though Harry's team was winning, but by a hair. At around four o'clock the girls announced they were going to get ready, which surprised the boys since the Ball didn't start until eight that night. At six o'clock the boy's went in due to frostbite and hunger. Up in the dormitory it was in the shambles. Ron was limping around looking for his shock, only to find it in Scorch's mouth, Harry had lost his dress robes, only to find them on his already, Dean lost his wand and Seamus had someone else's, they soon realized that Seamus had Dean's and Neville had Seamus's. Nobody knew where Neville's was, until they found it in the common room an hour later. Ron was dressed in his new dress robes, the ones the twins had promised Harry to buy him, Harry had on his old ones, the dark green ones. They made it down to the dormitory a few minutes before the ball started, only to find the girls still up in their dorm. Ron hurried off a moment later looking for Luna, saying he'd meet him down there and was looking forward to seeing who Harry and Hermione's mystery dates were. Neville had asked Ginny to go; Dean was going with Lavender and Seamus with Parvarti. Soon Harry was the only one left in the common room waiting patiently for Hermione.

Harry's jaw dropped when he spotted his best friend silently gliding down the girl's staircase. She had on a silvery-blue dress, which shimmered when she moved. It came down low at the front as well as the back, showing her bare back. A silver chain dropped of the back, needing to be hooked to the top of her neck. Glitter was spread over her body, adding to her shimmery look. Her hair was straightened out and placed in an elegant bun, allowing ringlets to drop at odd spots. Small gems were mixed in with her hair as well, adding to the brilliant smile she was giving Harry.

`What's wrong, Harry?' she asked cheekily, causing Harry to blush slightly, “erm, nothing…you look beautiful!' he managed to stutter still too shocked to say any thing more. They hooked arms and made their way out, `you too Harry,' She added, trying to do something with his hair, but failing miserably. The sounds of a band playing met their ears as they entered the Entrance Hall, also the voices of many students. Harry took a deep breath and passed through the doors separating them from the actual ball. The music got considerably louder as they spotted the Weird Sisters playing on a levitated stage where the teachers table usual was. Many circular tables had been placed around the walls, filled with goblets of Pumpkin Juice left by dancing students. A long rectangular table went along one wall covered in an assortment of foods and drinks, that's where they spotted Ron, stuffing his face. The two made their way over to him, searching for Luna. Ron looked unsurprisingly at them, smirking through a moth full of Treacle Tart.

`I knew it!' he managed to say, swallowing his food, `I don't know why you kept it a secret, everyone knew,' Harry began to blush, luckily it was dark inside the hall and no one could spot his face. He had a strange feeling Hermione was as well. `So where's Luna?' Harry asked trying to keep a straight face. Ron shrugged, looking through the crowd of people. `Oh, here she comes now,' he stammered turning back to the food, Hermione giggled softly so only Harry could hear.

`Hello Harry, Hermione,' said Luna, `Ronald, would you like to dance?' Ron was heard coughing on something before turning, his face slowly becoming red. He nodded coughing once again and let his date pull him away. Harry and Hermione laughed humorously before Hermione pulled Harry onto the dance floor. He began to feel very nervous as he placed his hands on the small of her bare back and she wrapped her hands around his neck. They kept trying not to look at each others eyes but every time they did they would laugh nervously. The dancing couple soon became the target to many looks, as students began to walk passed just staring at them with smiles plastered on their faces. They spotted Ron and Luna dancing much like they were Ron's face still red. Ginny and Neville were dancing a foot apart, casually talking. Dean and Lavender were doing something suspicious in the corner of the hall, their faces partly concealed by shadow. Just looking at them made Harry squirm. That song finished and a slow one started. Hermione placed her head on Harry's shoulder, swaying slightly to the music. Harry placed his head on hers his nervousness slipping away at how nice it felt to be dancing with his best friend. But then thoughts filled his head that he shouldn't be having about his best friend, but he thought them any way, savoring the moment. After that song finished they decided to grab a drink and go for a walk across the grounds. It seemed that Ron and Luna had decided on that exact same thing as they spotted them making their way out of the Great Hall.

The grounds were much like they were at the Yule Ball. Fountains were placed around the grounds, and fairy lights in bushed, not lights but actual fairies. Harry's heart jolted as he spotted Cho Chang and Michael Corner running into a rose bush. He felt something in his hand as he looked down to find Hermione gripping it tightly in her own. She smiled warmly up at him; Harry forgot all a bout Cho. They perched themselves on a stone bench between two rose bushes, the fairies setting off an evanescent glow on the couple. The sky shone bright with thousands of stars, shining over the castle. Hermione was leaning on Harry's shoulder once more their fingers still intertwined. They were looking up at the evening sky, the faint music playing in the background. Harry looked down into her eyes, the stars reflected in the brown depths. He lowered his head as she tilted hers. Their lips met as a tingling feeling swept through his body. It lasted a few seconds before pulling away both looking into each others eyes, lost for speech. Hermione sighed a breath that she had been holding.

`Was that better than Cho?' she asked happily. Harry thought for a moment, `Cho who?' Hermione giggled softly before they leant in and commenced with another kiss. They pulled away and began talking about anything that came to mind when something caught Harry's eye. He held up his hand for Hermione to be silent. They both looked of towards the forbidden forest where it looked like two people dragging something along the ground. They looked confused at each other and began walking towards the tree line, squinting through trees to see something. They transformed into their Animagus forms and began to silently make their way into the forest, Harry keeping his wolf hearing on alert. Soon enough they spotted the two figures dragging, as they looked closer, a third figure through the shrubs. The three figures drew to a stop, as did Hermione and Harry, keeping a safe distance away but still close enough to listen to them without being seen. The figure on the ground tried to stand but was kicked again by one of the others. They seemed to be waiting for someone and soon enough a fourth figure appeared, a hood drawn up over their face. They stood over the fallen figure, and a voice spoke out that Harry wished to never here again, `Master wants to know if you have came upon a decision yet, Malfoy,' it was Bellatrix Lestrange speaking to no other than Draco Malfoy. He raised his head off the ground and stared hauntingly at the woman under the hood. He spat at her.

`I'd rather die than join him!' he said hatefully, being kicked again in the ribs by, which Harry recognized as Crabbe, meaning the other was Goyle. A high pitched laughing could be heard coming from under the hood, as she reached up and pulled it off. Hermione was heard shuffling uncomfortably beside Harry in her horse form. Lestrange's face was all torn up. A huge scar reached down the left side of her face, cutting across her eye, her nose was bruised as was one of her eyes. Malfoy looked up disgustedly. `That can be arranged!' she cried joylessly, Malfoy's mouth hung open in silent shock. She raised her hand, a wand clasped in it tightly. Hermione nuzzled Harry's wolf head, a shocked look in her eyes. He nodded slightly, creeping forward silently; he looked back to the see the chestnut brown horse looking worriedly back. He gulped and crept forward more, he was camouflaged in the shadows of the trees, only his eyes shining golden. Bellatrix smiled sickly, `Avada-` she didn't finish as Harry leapt forward sinking his teeth into her wand hand. She screamed shrilly as the wolf wouldn't let go. Crabbe and Goyle backed up, afraid of the black canine. Draco looked up too hurt to move.

“Stupefy! Petrificus Totalis!' Yelled Hermione coming out of the trees, Crabbe and Goyle dropped to the ground lifeless, only Crabbe's eyes moved around frightened. Harry let go of her hand and snarled at her baring his teeth, he leapt again and sunk his fangs into her leg, making her scream louder. Hermione shouted stupefy as Lestrange dropped to the ground. Harry let go of her leg and turned to Hermione, she was panting slightly and glancing around nervously.

`We better go, incase more come. Can you walk, Draco?' The blond haired boy looked up confused to as why she was helping him. He tried to stand but collapsed back down, panting. Hermione looked down to Harry who was still in his wolf form. He nodded slightly and moved slightly so Crabbe couldn't see him. He transformed into his human form, getting a shocked look from Malfoy. Hermione transformed into her horse form away from Crabbe as well, getting more shocked looks from Draco. Harry helped Draco to his feet, `Can you ride?' Harry asked softly, pointing to Hermione. He nodded slightly, letting Harry help him onto Hermione's back. Harry turned and levitated the three other bodies and sent them in front of them as they made their way back through the forest. The castle came into view through the parted trees, music softly played, hardly hearable. Harry helped Draco down, letting Hermione transform back into a human. Draco looked at them confused, `Why-` he began but Harry cut him off.

`We did what any one would've done. We seen Crabbe and Goyle dragging you into the forest so we followed. Please don't tell anyone about us,' Harry asked pleadingly. Draco nodded silently, `Thanks,' he murmured looking at the ground. Harry turned to Crabbe who was staring at Hermione. He quickly performed the memory charm, not wanting anyone to know about them. Harry and Hermione helped Draco up to the castle, all of them in their dress robes and dresses, three figures levitating in front of them. Ron and Luna were sitting o the steps talking about something when they spotted the three figures struggling up the grounds.

`Go get Dumbledore,' said Hermione sitting Malfoy on the steps softly. Luna quickly disappeared into the castle and came out a moment later, followed by Professor Dumbledore, McGonagall and Lupin. They all gasped as they seen the forms of Crabbe, Goyle and Lestrange. Lupin seemed to be smelling the air for something, but brushed it off helping to get everyone in the castle. Hermione and Harry followed closely behind Dumbledore as he placed Draco in the infirmary, then ushered them up to his office. After retelling the nights events to the headmaster, saying they crept out of the forest and stunned them and that Lestrange already had the bite marks they wandered out from behind the Gargoyle. Lupin was waiting patiently, leaning against the wall.

`Could I talk to you to a moment in here?' they followed him into an empty classroom. He seemed to be smelling the air again and stared at them curiously making them both uncomfortable. Then he asked something that made Harry's heart drop.

`Are you Animagus?'
