Chapter 17: Dreams of Danger and Past.

Harry found himself walking along the corridors of Hogwart, it was empty and dark, the only light there was, was from his wand. He heard a noise behind him, which caused to him to turn around, startled. There was no one behind him at all, he turned around and continued down the hallway, he soon heard a faint humming sound, he looked around but there were no doors, just brick walls.

“What the hell…” Harry muttered as he moved on forward, walking a bit faster, soon he was running and the corridor seemed to rush by him in a blur, Harry stopped but the corridor never, it spun around, making him dizzy.

“STOP!” Harry screamed and true to his word the corridor stop only for the bottom to give way and him to fall through, he hit the ground with a grunt.

Harry rolled on to his back with a groan of pain as he looked up at the ceiling and saw there were no hole there, somehow the room felt familiar, he sat up and looked toward the passage only for his eyes widen, he was back in the Chamber where he first met Voldemort for the second time in his first year, the mirror was still standing there. Harry, gently, got up and moved toward the mirror, fully expecting to see his parents again. But there was nothing there apart from darkness and him. Harry was puzzled as he looked around the room then looked back into the mirror, his eyes widen when he saw the Grangers, they were locked up and a figure was laughing. Harry took a step back from the mirror and closed his eyes to take a deep breath. When he opened them, he got another shock of his life, he was in the Chamber of Secret and there was a figure lying on the floor, instead of Ginny it was…

“God, No, please no.” Harry whispered as he rushed over to the figure lying on the ground, her long curly brown hair was flared out and she was a deathly pale color, he touched her hand and found that it was stiff and frozen, much like the same feeling when he felt Ginny. “Hermione, sweetie, wake up. Please.” Harry begged as he picked her up and rocked her backward and forward, he kissed her forehead and closed his eyes as he buried his face into her hair only for her to disappear. Harry’s startled, eyes snapped open and he took in his surrounding, he was puzzled even more, he was back in the shrieking Shack, he looked around but couldn’t see anything, he sound heard whimpering from the other room. He got up quickly as he moved out of the door into the other only to see Hermione holding a body, rocking backward and forward, she was sobbing as she ran her fingers through the person’s dark hair. Harry recognized the person as himself and noticed that there was a bloody knife next to the body and there was blood seeping out from his heart. “What is going on?” Harry asked as he looked around then looked back at the two of them, his eyes widen when he saw Hermione grab the knife and plunged it into her heart, causing her to fall forward on top of Harry. “NO!” Harry screamed.

He soon found himself back in the same place he was when he was transported during the end of the Tri – Wizard contest, where Cedric died, he was locked the duel with Voldemort, their wands connected, he fully expected Cedric to come out of the wand only for his heart to break when he saw Hermione’s ghostly figure step out the end of Voldemort’s wand, he shook his head and closed his eyes, wishing that the image would go away, he felt him slump to the ground and open his eyes. He groaned when he realized that he was back in the Ministry place only to see Hermione to hit by a curse and to fall through the veil, Harry screamed out loud, all the pain and anguish mixing in.

“NO!” Harry screamed as he bolted up in his bed once more, breathing even more hard.

Hermione was startled out of her sleep and sat up next to Harry; she took his face in her hands and forced him to meet her.

“Harry? What happened?” Hermione asked worriedly, Harry, not replying, just grabbed Hermione and pulled her into a bear tight hug, the memories of her dying like that was just too much for him to handle and after everything he’s been through, that was saying a lot. He broke down and started crying on Hermione’s shoulder. Hermione, stunned, ran her hand through his hair, kissing the side of his head, soothing him.

Everyone came bursting through into the room and saw that Harry was crying, clutching Hermione like she was going to disappear soon.

“Molly, get everyone a cup of something hot to drink, I have a feeling tonight is going to be a long night.” Dumbledore said to Molly and she nodded, leading everyone to the kitchen while Dumbledore stepped into the room, waiting for Harry to calm himself down.

Harry finally managed to run out of tears and he buried his face in Hermione’s neck, relaxing in her familiar scent. Hermione had buried her face in Harry’s neck.

“Okay now?” Hermione whispered into Harry’s ear and he nodded while sniffling a little.

“Harry.” A male voice interrupted, both of them broke away from each other and saw the Dumbledore was standing at the door. “Please compose yourself and come down when you are feeling a bit better, we need to talk about the nightmare you’ve just had.” Dumbledore said and Harry nodded as Dumbledore left the room.

Hermione turned to Harry.

“Are you sure you are okay?” Hermione asked, worriedly. Harry just kissed her, reassuring him that she was real and alive and right next to him.

Hermione was stunned when Harry kissed her but felt the desperation, she couldn’t help but melt into the kiss, reassuring him, she wrapped her arms around his neck while Harry wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her onto his lap.

“Please don’t ever leave me.” Harry whispered, pleadingly when they both broke away for a breath.

“I’m always by your side, forever.” Hermione whispered back as she took his lips in hers again. Harry groaned as her hips bucked a little into his and she wrapped her legs around his waist as Harry shifted his hips into hers, his hands slipped under his shirt that she was using to sleep in and caressed her back as they both shifted their hips into the other while they continued to kiss furiously. Hermione’s hands had found their way into his hair to hold his head.

Soon their kisses slowed down, as they now were sure that the other one was there and alive. Harry broke away from Hermione, resting his forehead against hers.

“Someday Mione, just not now.” Harry whispered and Hermione nodded as she softly kissed his forehead then lips.

“We better go down stairs.” Hermione whispered and they both got out of bed and made their way down the stairs to face the rest of the family.

Molly was bustling about, getting cups, when Harry and Hermione stepped into the kitchen, holding hands. Both of them sat at the table and Harry sighed when he noticed that everyone was staring at him, wondering what made him scream.

“I had a nightmare but it’s different from my other nightmares I usually have.” Harry stated as Molly handed both of them a cup of hot chocolate.

“How so?” Minerva asked.

“The first one I had was, I was walking in the school corridor when I heard someone humming but I looked around and there was nothing there, just brick walls, the corridor spun around and I was dropped through the floor only to find myself in the chamber where I first met Voldemort for the second time, the mirror was still there so I went over to it, expecting to see my parents only I saw Hermione’s parents and a figure laughing.” Harry stated and Hermione looked at him, stunned.

“Why would you be dreaming of my parents?” Hermione asked and Harry shrugged,

“That’s not all, I closed my eyes then I found myself in the chamber of Secrets, I saw a figure on the floor and I expected it to be Ginny,” Harry said looking toward Ginny and she nodded, understanding “But it wasn’t, it was Hermione. The third one was when we were in the Shrieking Shack in our third year, I could hear someone crying so I walked toward the sound,” Harry started and took in a deep breath and looked toward Hermione, “It was you and you was holding my body, there was a knife on the floor, I’m guessing I was stabbed because you were crying and there was some blood on the knife along I saw blood seeping out of my heart, I looked away then looked back and I saw you plunge the knife into your heart.” Harry finished hoarsely and Hermione squeezed his hand, telling him to continue. “I found myself back in the graveyard when I fought Voldemort, our wands were connected I waited for Cedric to come out only for it to be Hermione then the last dream I had, I was back in the Ministry Department and Hermione got hit by a curse and fell through the veil, I woke up after that because I couldn’t take it.” Harry whispered as he closed his eyes at the memories.

“I don’t get it, everything you’ve been through, you are dreaming about it only this time Hermione dies in each one apart from the first one.” Molly said.

“Harry.” Dumbledore prodded and Harry looked at Ron who nodded.

“After the funeral, an owl came here and dropped a letter, it was for Hermione only it never said.” Harry said.

“Harry?” Hermione asked, puzzled. Harry just looked away.

“It said that your parents were still alive and if you wanted them, you had to catch the person first.” Harry whispered.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Hermione asked, outraged and Harry turned to her.

“Because we weren’t sure, we had to make sure it wasn’t a joke and I didn’t want you to go through the pain, I didn’t want you to get your hopes up only to get them dashed! Everything was telling me that who ever the person is, is after you.” Harry explained and Hermione looked at him fearfully.

“What do you mean?” Hermione asked and Harry closed his eyes, cursing himself for voicing his thoughts, everyone was interested.

“Harry?” Sirius asked and Harry sighed.

“Over the last few years I’ve learnt to trust my instincts, the fact that Hermione’s parents were caught in a fire, then this note then my dreams, it’s no coincidence, Hermione is in danger.” Harry said and Hermione was confused.

“Why me? I mean I haven’t done anything.” Hermione said and Harry smiled slightly.

“Except be my friend, help me to defeat Voldemort, be the smartest witch in the whole of Hogwart.” Harry said and Hermione blushed lightly.

“Apart from that, I haven’t done anything to make anyone want to kill me.” Hermione said and Harry nodded.

“I know, that what confused Ron and I in the first place, why would anyone steal your parents, pretend they were dead then send the note? What would they gain from it anyway?” Harry noted and Dumbledore thought about.

“Maybe someone out there didn’t like the fact that Hermione is with you?” Dumbledore said and Harry shook his head.

“No, it doesn’t feel it has anything to do with me, everything point to personal, like they just revenge on her alone.” Harry explained.

Everyone was stumped, for the first time, no one had an answer and they knew that was dangerous, it meant Hermione’s life was on the line and they better find out soon how to save her.
