Chapter 16: Answers and feelings.
“Your parents are alive, barely but alive. If you want them, come and catch me.” The words tauntingly said, but the one thing that scared Ron the most? The writing was in blood.
Ron looked around the room with disbelief in his eyes as he dropped the letter on the table and backed away like it was on fire.
Harry walked in and saw that Ron was staring at the table like there was a spider on it.
“Ron?” Harry asked as he moved toward his best friend. Ron turned to him with fear in his eyes.
“Harry, I think we have a problem.” Ron stated which caused Harry to look at him puzzled.
“I can’t believe he took your blood!” Jane whispered to Stuart as she bandaged his arm, which caused him to wince. “Sorry.” She said but Stuart shook his head, waving it off.
“Don’t be, it reminds me that I’m still alive.” Stuart whispered as he closed his eyes in pain.
“I can’t believe Hermione thinks we are dead! Our poor baby, God knows what she is going through.” Jane whispered, holding her tears back while Stuart pulled her into a hug.
“Harry will look after her, she’ll be fine.” Stuart assured her as they both looked out of the window at the stars filled sky, praying.
Harry looked at the letter then at Ron.
“If this is someone idea of a sick joke, I’m going to kill them.” Harry hissed venomously and Ron nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, but what if its not a joke?” Ron asked, “What if Mione’s parents are alive?” Ron whispered and Harry shook his head as he sat at the table. Ron sat across from him.
“It doesn’t make sense!” Harry stated, “What would they gain from stealing her parents and pretend they were dead only to do this?” Harry asked as he pointed at the letter and Ron shrugged.
“Maybe they want revenge?” Ron suggested.
“Why would anyone want revenge on her?” Harry asked, puzzled. “She hasn’t done anything.” Harry pointed out.
“What do we do then?” Ron asked, pointing toward the letter.
Harry stood up and crumpled the letter.
“We are not going to tell anyone, especially Mione, she’s been through too much that I’m not going to let this stir up any more pain for her especially if it’s a joke.” Harry stated firmly.
“She’ll find out soon.” Ron warned and Harry nodded.
“I know but I want to keep this low profiled as long as we can, just till we find out who is behind this and find out what the hell is going on!” Harry said and Ron nodded as he left the kitchen.
Harry looked at the crumpled letter in his hand and shook his head as he muttered the spell to send it on fire. He waited till it went out and put the ashes in the bin before leaving the kitchen in a storm and worry in his gut.
Hermione was standing at the widow, looking out at the stars when she felt a hard, warm body press up against her back and wrap their arms around her waist.
“Do you think they are watching over me?” Hermione whispered and Harry kissed the side of her forehead.
“Professor Dumbledore once told me that the people we truly love never leave us, they are a part of us and are inside of us.” Harry said and Hermione rested the back of her head on his shoulder as they both continued to look outside.
“Ron? What is it?” Luna asked and Ron shook his head.
“Nothing just worried about Mione.” Ron said with a smile, which caused Luna to stare at him for a few seconds before accepting it; she nodded as she turned back to Ginny and Draco.
Ron looked toward Harry and Hermione with a feeling of dread that something big was going to happen and there was going to be no way to stop it.
“Albus?” Minerva asked and Albus turned to her.
“Its Harry, I feel something has changed, he knows something yet won’t speak because it’ll change things.” Albus said which caused Minerva to look toward the young man she saw as a grandson.
“Yes, I can tell too. I have a feeling that it’s something to do with Hermione.” She stated and Albus nodded as they both turned to Jack, who had turned up to thank them for coming.
Hermione found herself sitting on Harry’s bed, she was looking at the picture that Harry had of the three of them. They were standing in front of Hogwart, laughing. Hermione was in the middle while Ron stood to her left and Harry stood to her right.
Hermione smiled slightly when she remembered that day. It was after they had defeated Voldemort in their first year. She remembered how innocent they were, they had no idea what was going to happen after that year, they had no idea that it was going to get more dangerous.
She felt tears fill her eyes as the people in the picture stopped laughing at looked at the person that was staring at them. The photo Harry turned to photo Hermione in a puzzled glance but she just shrugged.
Hermione placed the photo down so she couldn’t see it as she lied on the bed and turned onto her side, burying her face into the pillow as her tears overflowed and soaked the pillow.
Harry walked in but stopped short at the sight of his girlfriend crying her eyes out into his pillows, he noticed that his photo frame was lying face down, he was puzzled at that but shrugged, knowing that Hermione would have a good reason for turning it down.
Harry moved toward the bed and sat down. He placed his hand on her shoulder. Hermione pulled away from the pillow and turned her tear face up toward her boyfriend.
Harry felt his heart clench painfully for the girl in front of him.
“Oh sweetie.” Harry whispered; his eyes filled with concern and pain for her. Hermione sat up and rushed into Harry’s arms so she could cry in the safety in his arms. “Everything will be alright. I promise you.” Harry whispered as he rocked her backward and forward. He shifted so he was lying on the bed with Hermione curled up next to him. He just stroked her hair while she cried into his arms.
Soon the sobbing slowed as she sighed as shifted her head so she was looking up at him.
“Harry,” Hermione started and Harry looked down, waiting for her question that he knew she was going to ask. “How do you cope?” Hermione asked and Harry sighed as he rolled so that they both were lying on their side, face to face. Hermione had her head resting on Harry’s arm that was under her head.
“I just do, I mean, my parents have been dead since I was a year old, I never really got to know them. It’s different with you because you’ve your parents for nearly seventeen years sweetie, so it’s a lot harder for you.” Harry stated as he pushed a strand of her hair back.
“How did you react when you found out that they were murdered?” Hermione asked; she was curious because Harry had never really spoken about it.
“When Hagrid told me that they were murdered, I was confused, I mean, I knew that my aunt and uncle didn’t really like me, but to lie to me like that was to much for me to handle, especially when I realized that they knew that I was a wizard all the time but didn’t tell me.” Harry said and Hermione looked at him.
“Do you miss your parents?” Hermione asked quietly and Harry looked at her, they both locked eyes.
“Yes I do, its weird, I mean, I never knew my parents yet I miss them every day.” Harry admitted and Hermione sighed as she moved into closer to Harry and rested her head under his chin.
“I miss my parents so much, I just wish I had one more chance to tell them how much I loved them and was thankful for them.” Hermione whispered as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Harry leaned away and kissed the top of her head then rested his head back on top of hers as he closed his eyes.
“I know sweetie, I know.” Harry whispered back as they both fell into a deep dreamless sleep.
“DAMN IT!” he snarled as he threw a book at the wall in frustrated anger. “He was supposed to push her away! Not keep her close!” He snarled then leaned on the table as he tried to get his breath back.
“Damn those two. I will get them, one way or another and I will get my revenge with that mudblood!” he hissed as he looked around the place once more then muttered a spell which got the place in it rightfully place then disapparated.
Jane and Stuart were huddling into each other, in the corner in fear.
“He’s going to do something Stuart, I know he is.” Jane whispered fearfully to her husband, scared for her daughter’s life.
“I know; all we can do is hope that Harry will be able to protect her as much as he can.” Stuart whispered back as he hugged her tightly. Both scared for their only daughter.
“Its almost time.” A harsh voice whispered in the air.
Harry bolted up in bed, breathing heavily as he looked around his bedroom, wondering what the hell was going on.
Hermione, woken by the sudden movement her boyfriend made, looked up at Harry with a worried, sleepy gaze.
“What the matter?” she asked drowsily. Harry turned back to her and gave her a soft kiss on the lips then on the forehead.
“Nothing baby, just thought I heard something. I was wrong.” Harry said as he pulled Hermione to him and lay back on the bed.
Hermione snuggled back into Harry as she rested her head on Harry’s chest and settled go to back to sleep.
Harry just stared at the ceiling with a confused/scared gaze.
Something was going to happen to her, he just knew it and wondered how he was going to protect her.
Albus was standing in the Weasley’s kitchen, looking outside the window while holding a mug.
“Albus?” a soft voice asked behind him. Albus turned to the voice. “What are you doing up?” Minerva asked and Albus smiled slightly.
“Can’t you feel it?” Albus asked and Minerva looked at him, befuddled.
“Feel what?” she asked.
“The danger, it’s coming. The war is coming.” Albus stated firmly in a mysterious tone which caused Minerva to look at him with a stunned/scared look.
