Chapter 19: Back to school

Harry found himself sitting on the Hogwart Express Train. They were finally going home. Harry was leaning against the wall with Hermione’s back against him, she was reading the book while Ron and Luna was off to find the trolley, Draco and Ginny wanted time alone together as they didn’t get much time alone together because of the twins, Bill, Percy and Charlie were making sure that one of them were in the room with the two of them.

“How are you feeling about going back to school?” Harry asked as he stroked back her hair.

“A little weird, I mean, my parents are dead and there’s someone out there who wants to kill me.” Hermione sighed as she rested her head on his shoulder and Harry kissed her forehead.

“I know, it bewildering.” Harry said and sighed, “Welcome to my world.” Harry glumly stated and Hermione laughed as she looked at him.

“I’m already in your world.” Hermione said and Harry rolled his eyes while she leaned in and kissed him. “I love you.” Hermione sighed and Harry smiled.

“I should hope so, we have promised to get married.” Harry teased as he gently rubbed the ring and Hermione lightly pushed him.

“Jerk.” She teased back and Harry took her lips in his again.

“I love you too.” Harry sighed when they pulled away and Hermione smiled brightly at him then leaned her head on his chest as she closed her eyes as Harry looked out of the window, watching the scene go past him.

Harry woke up when felt a sudden jerk, he looked out of the window and frowned when he saw that he was no where near the school, the lights went out and Harry stiffen, a feeling of De Ji Vu started up in the pit of his stomach, he sat up and looked around, he looked down at Hermione who was beginning to shift. Harry got up and placed her on the chair as he wrapped his robes over her to keep her warm as he went off to find out what was going on, he slowly stepped into the corridor and gently walked down, keeping a sharp eye for anything unusual. He stepped into a room and felt the cold air around him, his heart clenched tightly when it hit him.

“Dementors!” Harry muttered furiously as he stepped back out of the room and hurried down the corridor back to the room where he left Hermione. He hurried into the room and slammed the door, which startled Hermione along with Ron, Luna, Draco and Ginny, who had apparently, came in while Harry was sleeping.

“What is it?” Hermione asked.

“Dementors are on the train and ever since there is no news about anyone being missing, I’m guessing they are working for Voldemort or the Ministry, we need to get out of here soon.” Harry rushed out as he grabbed his case and pulled out his broom. “Ron, Draco do you have yours?” Harry asked and both boys nodded as they grabbed their brooms. “Right we are going to go on doubles, I’m not letting anyone get separated, Hermione, you are with me, Ginny go with Draco and Luna you with Ron.” Harry ordered.

“Harry, can’t you just do the charm?” Hermione asked.

“I’m going to but if they are working with Voldemort or the Ministry, there will be others as well and we can’t do spells.” Harry said.

“Why are we running from the ministry?” Draco asked.

“I have very little faith in them at the moment, especially after fourth year.” Harry admitted with a scowl and Draco looked at the Trio.

“Is this the same for you?” Draco asked and Ron nodded.

“If they had believed Harry in the first place about Voldemort being back, a lot of things could have been prevented.” Hermione snapped as she huddled into Harry.

The door behind them began to slide open and Hermione gasped, Harry, quickly, spun around, placing Hermione behind him as he backed them away, his wand was clutched firmly in his hand as he kept a close eye on the door. They all shivered as the air began to get slightly cooler.

Hermione kept a firm grip on Harry’s left hand while her other hand was clutched to the back of his shirt as she looked over his shoulder with fear in her in her eyes, they saw a clawed hand appear on the side of the door and slide it open, there was a raspy breathing as the hooded intruder stepped into the room. The intruder stepped forward but Harry was already thinking up a happy thought, of him and Hermione getting married and being happy.

“Expecto Pantronum!” Harry yelled and a sliver stag appeared from his wand, the Dementor stopped then made to go forward only for the stag to rush at it, the Dementor spun around and fled the carriage, Harry heard shouting.

“They are inside, get them!”

“They don’t sound like death eaters to me.” Draco noted and Harry shook his head.

“They aren’t death eaters, they are the Ministry. The reason I know because they sound scared.” Harry noted with amusement. Hermione tugged on the back of his shirt.

“Should we still leave?” Hermione asked and Harry nodded.

“I’m not taking any chances, come on Hermione, help me shrink these suitcases and the cages, Sorry Hedwig, you need to be shrunk as well, can’t let you get you caught or killed.” Harry said and Hedwig bobbed her head, letting him know that she understood and approved of it. Hermione casted the charm, everyone grabbed theirs cases and cages and placed them in their pockets or bags. Hermione straddled Harry’s broom while Ginny and Draco hurried on his broom and Ron sat on his broom with Luna behind him.

Harry rushed over and pushed the door open.

“Go! And wait for us in the air.” Harry said, letting them go, he hurried over to Hermione and sat behind her. “Ready?” Harry asked; Hermione just nodded as she buried her face into his chest. Harry kicked the off the ground and soared out into the open air, he met up with the others.

“Everyone okay?” Harry asked and they all nodded.

“What about Hermione?” Ginny asked; nodding toward Hermione who still had her face buried in Harry’s chest.

“She has a fear of heights, but other than that, she is okay.” Harry said as he kissed the top of her head then looked down at the train, he saw that there was light heading toward their now empty carriage. “We have to move to the castle now, we need to get there as soon as possible.” Harry stated urgently and they all nodded.

“It’s a good thing that no one else went home for the Christmas otherwise we would have a problem.” Draco admitted and Harry nodded in agreement as they flew as fast as they could to the castle to get safe.

All the first years was excited about having new friends that they decided to stay at Hogwart for Christmas and no one else really wanted to pack up their stuff to go home, they decided to stay at the school which turned out to be great fun because Dumbledore gave permission for them all to sleep in the great hall so they all had one major sleepover because it was the first time in centuries that the whole school stayed at Hogwart apart from the six seventh year.

“I wonder what is taking the train so long.” Snape mused as he looked around for the Hogwart express and looked at his watch, it was late and the last time it was late was in the trio’s third year. Snape huffed as he looked once more only to get a fright when three broomsticks landed in front of them.

“What the…Potter! What in the name of Merlin do you think you are doing?!” Snape demanded.

“There were Dementors on the train!” Harry explained and Snape was baffled.

“What on earth were they doing on the Train?” Snape asked and Ron shrugged.

“We don’t know, the Ministry was also there but due to our lack of faith in them, we bolted it.” Ron said and Snape nodded.

“Good lad, it’s probably better that you had done that rather staying on the train, go to Hogwart and stay there till I arrive then we’ll go up to the headmaster.” Snape said and all of them nodded as the boys kicked off the ground once more and soared toward the castle. Snape growled when he saw the train head toward the station and waited for the people to come off the board.

He went in the train station and found that it was empty, there were no one in them and came to the conclusion that they must have left the train when they saw it was empty and made his way back to the school with puzzlement running through his body.

“I just don’t understand why they would stop the train!” Minerva snapped as she paced the room.

“Relax woman, let the kids speak.” Snape said and Minerva looked at Snape with an utter look of shock.

“When we heard the voices we knew it was the Ministry, why they stopped the train, we didn’t stick around to find out, we just got out of the train as fast as we could.” Harry explained and Dumbledore nodded.

“That would be have been a wise move, especially with your past with them, who knows what they would have done.” Dumbledore said and Ron smirked.

“Is it not enough that you have Voldemort and the Death eaters after you that you need to go and make more enemies?” Ron teased and Harry laughed.

“It’s not my fault that troubles is attracted to me.” Harry teased back and Hermione rolled her eyes.

“You two go looking for trouble as well you know so don’t blaming it all on trouble.” Hermione teased back and the three of them shared a mischievous smile. The adults smiled, knowing that the Trio had a habit of getting into trouble along with getting out of it with awards and points.

“What are we going to do now?” Ginny asked.

“Well, I think you lot should go down to the kitchen and get something to eat while we’ll sort this out, we’ll get back to you tomorrow because I think you will be wanting sleep after this adventure.” Dumbledore teased and Hermione laughed.

“At least none of us are in the hospital wing this time.” Hermione teased as they all got up, Harry laughed as he spun her around before they all headed out of the room, and everyone was laughing as they made their way down to the kitchens.

“They are amazing, especially the trio.” Minerva admired and Dumbledore chuckled.

“Yes they are, after everything they’ve been through, especially Miss Granger, they can still have fun.” Dumbledore said and Minerva smiled.

“I’m glad to see that they are not letting everything get to them.” Minerva said as she left the room while Dumbledore was chuckling away.
