A/N: I am SO sorry it took me so long to write this chapter. The holidays slowed me down, and my beta went out of town with her family (which is perfectly fine). Anyway, I hope everyone likes this chapter and reviews.
Chapter 6
Just as Blaise kissed her on the cheek and walked off, Ginny saw Ron come down the stairs.
Ginny started to turn and go back into the Great Hall when Ron yelled at her, “Hey Ginny, wait a minute!”
Ginny knew this couldn’t be good, he seemed too agitated.
“What the bloody hell did he just do to you?” Ron asked sounding furious.
“He kissed me on my cheek.” Ginny replied coolly.
“Why?”
“I don’t really know, I wasn’t expecting it myself.”
“What is he up too?” Ron said taking a small step toward her.
“He’s not up to anything; I’m just going with him to the Halloween ball.” Ginny said quietly.
“There is no Halloween ball.” Ron said simply.
“Yes there is, Professor Dumbledore hasn’t announced it yet.” Ginny replied with more courage.
“You’re not going with him, he’s a Slytherin.”
“Yes I am Ron. I don’t care what house he is in.” Ginny said raising her voice.
“Ginny, you are not going with him,” Ron said slightly raising his voice above Ginny’s.
“Don’t yell at me Ron, I’m not your daughter, I’m your sister. Let me do what I want for once in my life.” Ginny said desperately.
“It’s a mistake Gin, I know it.”
“Let me make my own mistakes. How will I ever learn if I never get to experience anything?”
“He better not touch you, Gin. That’s all he wants.” Ron said a little quieter so only Ginny could hear.
“How exactly do you know that Ron?” Ginny asked with a curious expression on her face.
“He never paid any attention to you until you started dressing . . . different.” Ron said awkwardly.
“More revealing you mean?” Ginny replied smirking.
“Don’t push me Gin. Just promise me if he touches you, you’ll tell me.”
Ginny sighed, “Okay Ron. I promise I will.”
Ron looked slightly relieved, and he hugged Ginny.
He can be hard to get along with, but I still always get on the good side of him. At least I know he cares about me.
Ginny hugged him back and ran upstairs to get her books.
~*~*~*~*~
Blaise walked into Snape’s office after talking to Ginny. He seemed more confident when he saw Snape was grading potion’s essays.
“Professor, I have a request.”
Professor Snape looked up from the stack of parchment he was poring over.
“What is it, Blaise,” Snape said dryly.
“Well, I need to look up something in the restricted section of the library.” Blaise said a little more timidly.
“What does this have to do with me,” Snape said, knowing what Blaise was wanting.
“I was wondering if you could give me a pass.”
“Fine, but don’t bother me any more today.” Snape said shortly.
Snape pulled out a piece of parchment and scribbled the note quickly.
Blaise took it saying, “Thanks a lot, Professor,” and walked out the door.
He took his time getting to the library. Professor Flitwick, his next class, would never give him detention. Professor Flitwick liked him too much. Plus, he could talk his way out of anything.
He walked in the library, and found Madame Pince replacing books back on the shelves.
“Hello Madame Pince, are you having a good day?”
“Why yes, Mr. Zabini.”
“That’s great. Well, here’s a note. I need to find a book in the restricted section.”
Madame Pince took the paper and studied it.
“Very well, Mr. Zabini. Follow me.”
“Oh, I don’t need your help. You can continue to put these books back.”
“Well, if you’re sure.”
“Thanks a lot.”
Blaise went over to the restricted section and ducked under the rope.
“Okay, she said it was to the left on the bottom shelf.”
An old lady’s voice suddenly spoke behind him, “Talking to yourself is a sure sign of insanity, my boy.”
Blaise was startled and looked around for the person who was talking to them.
“Up here, my boy.”
Blaise looked up and saw an old maroon book was the one talking to him.
“I’m not insane,” he replied to the book.
“Are you sure? You seem like it to me.”
“Yes I’m sure. I wasn’t talking to myself, I was merely repeating a statement out loud so I could remember it properly.”
“You’re insane.”
“No, I’m not.”
“You are too. You’re just in denial.”
“I am not insane, and I’m certainly not in denial.”
“You are too.”
“No I’m not. Quit saying that.”
“Yes you are.”
“What makes you say that? I am not insane.”
“You’re the one arguing with a book.”
Blaise was stunned. He was arguing with a book, and the bad thing was the book was right.
The book started laughing.
“Quit laughing at me.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“See, you’re doing it again.”
“Oh shut up.”
“No.”
Blaise scowled at the stupid book and turned around to find the note. He spent a few minutes looking for it, and almost gave up until he saw that it was stuck behind all of the other books. He took the other books out to retrieve the silver and gold book. He flipped through it and found the note in the back. Blaise smiled, put the note in his pocket, replaced the book, and started to leave the section.
“Um, where do you think you’re going?”
Blaise sighed and looked up at the book, “Class.”
“Take me with you.”
“Why?”
“It’s so lonely here. No one talks to me. No one understands me.”
“What is there to understand?”
“I’m a Secret Book. I’m also a Psychiatrist Book. I help people and keep their secrets. I’m like a diary that never has to be written in.”
“Well, if I checked you out, I’d have to return you eventually.”
“Steal me.”
“What?”
“You heard me. I’m not even in the papers. If you tried to check me out, they wouldn’t find me. Just put me in your bag and take me with you, please.”
“Fine, but I will throw you away if I start thinking I’m crazy. Deal?”
“Deal.”
Blaise grabbed the book, put it in his bag, and left the library. He decided to look at the note. He pulled it out and read it: Sleep with a Slytherin boy.
Blaise couldn’t help the smile that made its way across his face.
A/N: Thanks to my Wonderful beta Novalee. I couldn’t have done it without you!
