Hermione was in the Library researching more about the ball when she overheard somebody talking about the ball. She ducked behind a shelf and listened.
“Look, I don’t want anybody to know that we are together so don’t ask me to the ball. I’ll ask Colin as a decoy. At , both of us will somehow get away from out partners and meet at the yon pond. Draco, are you ok with this?” sounded Ginny’s voice from behind the shelf.
“Of course! This is the plan, meet me here after dinner of Friday night!” answered Draco in a romantic tone. The secret couple parted, leaving Hermione with a rattling head and swarming thoughts.
Hermione’s thoughts ‘WOW! Ginny and Draco? I can’t include that in the article, but I can’t tell somebody. Ginny is my close friend! Maybe I should tell her that I found out? Or maybe not. Well, I think I have all the information on my article. I’m coming back here to meet with them. I don’t want to get Ginny in trouble and I am not spying! Or am I?’
Hermione ran back to a private room and took out her voice quill and read out her article. After she was happy with it, she ran to her Editor’s office and checked her mail. The rest of the day she was editing some reports for the paper.
*breakfast*
The ‘Hogwarts Topic’ was being distributed in the mail. There were chatters of excitement and some of sorrow. Everybody was talking about Hermione’s article, though. This is what it read….
As you all know, there is a graduation ball coming up! Dumbledore has decided to make it after very close consideration. The ball is not at the end of the year because NEWT’s will be going on and the 7th years need to study! Rules are that you can bring somebody in their 5th year or younger, but no less! Dumbledore had finally agreed to my SPEW idea and will give the elves a break, but that is off topic. (see page X for details)
Since the ball is on Valentine’s Day, many people are talking about couples. Valentines are going around and the usual couples are getting together. (refer to the Romance section for the names) Some, oddly enough, that you would never think of. There are many odd couples going around, and many odd rumors to go with them! Look out for these things at the ball.
Dumbledore has decided that he does not want to cut into Valentine’s day traditions. So, the ball will be referred to as the V-day ball and graduation ball! The 7th years will wear the dress hats that they found in their supplies list. Proper attire is necessary. Also, alumni will be there! Yes, everybody is invited, the teachers will be chaperoning and watching from above! If you leave the ball, there is no re-entering! This is a rule and shall stay one! Anybody in their 3rd year or above can go to Hogsmeade. (refer to page XX for the new Valentine’s day café!)
Thank you for listening, have a nice time at the ball. This is Hermione Granger, editor and writer of Hogwarts Topic.
“Hermione! This is a really good article! I didn’t know that it could be so….,” said Ron as searched for a proper word.
“… unlike me? Yes, I know! It is pretty much about couples, but I have decided that that is what people enjoy reading. Plus, if I get a popular article, I could be promoted to President of the paper. That will show that dog of a Pansy Parkinson! She doesn’t deserve the title!” said Hermione.
“I couldn’t agree more! Hermione, you are absolutely right. I am making you president of the paper and you are also assigned the romance column from now on. Congratulations on your superb article, I would like to see more!,” said Professor Dumbledore.
“You don’t understand, Professor. I don’t want the column, this was a one time thing. I just thought that the students deserve a little fun now and then. I mean you can’t be serious? Writing out couples? I am perfectly fine with this job, but I do except the promotion!” complained Hermione. Dumbledore smiled and said, “I know you will succeed at whatever you try hard enough for!” and then he walked away.
“Hermione, you are the crabbiest head of paper I have ever seen! You have just been promoted, why aren’t you happy?” teased Harry.
“Because I don’t want that job! Everybody knows that that job only goes to the people who aren’t good at writing, but want to write in the paper!”, sobbed Hermione. “I think I need to go now, I’m not hungry,” grumbled Hermione and she left the great hall to go to the Library and start getting scoop on her ‘new assignment’.
(A/N I know this is another short chapter, but this story isn’t doing very well. I don’t see the point. I am just gonna keep writing these kind of chapters! I hope you liked it though. And Hermione isn’t mad at Dumbledore or anybody; she is just a little disappointed. But not mad!)
