In the Knick of Time
Chapter Two
“Lilly Jane Potter, you come down here right this instant!” Hermione wiped her delicate hands on her dish towel as she called up the stairs for her daughter. Waiting a few minutes she got no answer, “Young lady don’t make me have to come up there.” Still not receiving an answer she sighed.
Hermione was about to walk back into the kitchen when she felt a pair of muscular arms encircle her curvaceous hips. She knew those arms and leaned back with out a second thought, “You know she gets it from you.”
Harry only chuckled at his wife’s statement, “Lilly not in her room?”
“No, I’ve been calling her down for ten minutes. She’s by herself; all the Order members are in the kitchen eating Breakfast…”
** ** **
Curly brown-haired, emerald-eyed Lilly Jane Potter, heir to the Potter fortune, offspring to the boy-who-lived, ducked behind a serpent shaped bush dodging two death eaters. After the goons past her, she crawled on all fours up to the back first floor window and looked behind her, the coast was clear. Quickly she pushed the window open. It made a creaking noise from disuse and she swore under her breath, something her uncle Ron had let slip when he lost at a friendly game of Quidditch to her father.
Lilly was on a mission, she was at the Malfoy estates. She had heard her father speak in hushed tones to her grandpa Remus last night…
“Another attack? Damn,” Harry swore as Remus Lupin informed him of the latest death eater movement, “was anyone hurt this time?”
“No Harry, luckily the ’s were not home. You realize this is just a scare tactic, they are stalling until they can find a way to get to you.”
Harry paced his study’s carpet, “I know, but the only weakness I have is my love for ‘Mione and Lilly, and there is NO WAY IN HELL he will ever touch them.”
Remus looked on worriedly at his nephew, “You must keep a close eye on them. I have the Order already on guard, but you can never be too careful.”
Harry stopped and ran a nervous hand through his forever messy ebony locks, “Maybe I should send ‘Mione and Lilly away until I have this mess sorted out…”
Lilly shuddered at the thought. She was there that night, listening in with her extendable ears Uncle Fred and George gave to her for her 12th birthday. She refused to leave with her mother and leave her father to fight the evil forces by himself, there had to be a way to get Voldemort.
Lilly scampered off to her room that night, thinking of ways to aid her father, “Come on think, you’re a Potter. You have your dad’s knack for adventure and your mum’s brains, put the two together and you’ve got a solution!”
That’s when it clicked: adventure. The best way to get the big man up top was to go through his cronies, and the biggest wacko she knew next to Voldy was his most trusted leader, Draco Malfoy.
Lilly packed her bag and snuck out of the house early the next morning. She knew her mum and dad would be ticked off with her for sneaking off, but she couldn’t let her parents know of her plan. She was 4’2 and petite just like her mum, she could get past anything easily without anybody noticing. Wishing she could use her magic outside of Hogwarts, Lilly took her heavy back pack filled with useful items and grabbed her Cosmic Crusader 3000, the best broom on the market, and jetted off to Malfoy’s mansion.

Pulling herself up with all her might, Lilly tumbled into the dust infested room. Sneezing softly, she stood up and brushed off her Chuddly Cannons hoody and blue jean hip huggers.
Placing her hand in her jacket pocket, Lilly felt her wand. With a determined face, she jerked her bag off the ground and began to prowl the house.
Lilly took out her extendable ears and placed them on every door she past with no luck from any of them. Up ahead of her, down the winding hallway, she spotted two double doors. Coming closer, Lilly Jane heard voices.
“…You will brew a permanent love potion and feed it to Potter’s little mudblood. Turn her against Harry.”
“Lord Voldemort, what does Granger have to do with anything? How will my making her fall in “love” with me help us get the prat?” Draco interjected.
“She is his weakness. Potter’s love for the creature is what is driving me to hide in the darkness when I should be wreaking havoc and chaos ruling what is mine! Stopping the two from ever falling in love…” Voldemort cringed at the word, “will ensure that the power he has will be no more.” The dark lord’s evil crackling ricocheted off the walls...”
** ** **
Lilly gasped in shock, they were planning on using her mother against her own husband. “A love potion,” Lilly whispered softly to nobody. The wheels in her mind began to spin. How would they be able to get to her? She and her mum were under constant supervision. They only reason she was here now was because she had flown out from her window when everyone else was asleep. She replayed the part of the conversation, ‘Stopping the two from ever falling in love…’ How can they stop her from falling in love when she already was? Unless they went back in ti…of course! He was going to go back in time!
The laughter inside died down, and she returned her attention to the people inside.
** ** **
Draco was the first to speak, “I have just the spell that will get her.”
“Excellent, the device for your journey may be found on the table beside you. Do not let me down again Malfoy or you will suffer a much worse fate than your father. ”
The snake eyes on top of the fire place grew bright again, signaling his master’s departure. Draco walked over to the device Voldemort was talking about. It was nothing but a rusted over ring.
“Looks can be deceiving,” Draco said chuckled menacingly. Grabbing a book from a nearby shelf titled Issues of the Heart, Malfoy flipped to the correct spell. “Watch out Granger, once Malfoy turns on the old charm, nothing can stand in his way.”
Picking up the ring, he slipped it over his knuckle and braced himself for the ride that was sure to come. And it did, a blinding white light flooded the room, with its rays seeping under the door and landing on Lilly.
Thinking fast, Lilly pulled out her father’s invisibility cloke she took that morning and thrust open the door barley getting hold of Malfoy before he disappeared.
