Chapter 3: Working
“Oi, this is our spot, go get your own!” argued Cho as another prostitute tried to take their spot, outside one of the many pubs in London.
“I was just resting here, keep your ‘ed on!” replied Lavender as she stared threateningly at Cho and Hermione. “Come on Alicia, we don’t stay where we ain’t wanted.” She stormed off in a rage and Alicia Spinnet followed, staying close to Lavender.
Another kid on the street, poor thing. Thought Hermione as she watched then stalk off, everyday she saw new people taking to the streets, trying to put on a brave face when you could see in their eyes how alone and scared they felt. “Come on Cho, we got work to do.”
“All right, all right. God I’m beat, I don’t know why we bothered, it looks slow tonight.”
“Yeah? Well thanks to your “little problem” we ain’t got a choice so make ‘em love ya.”
An hour later Cho started to get very bored. “This is pathetic, I’ve been standing here swaying my hips for over an hour and not one person has come, maybe we should just quit.”
Hermione sighed, “Stay a bit longer, it isn’t like we got anything waiting for us back at home anyway.”
“Maybe we should get a pimp Mione, Dean likes you.”
“Forget it! We work for it. We keep it. Besides it won’t be long till he gets in with Chucky and his gang.”
“All the more reason for a pimp. They’ll protect us.”
“They won’t protect us Cho, they’ll take us for what little money we can get and then they’ll most probably kill us.”
Cho looked down to the floor, “Dean ain’t like tha, he’ll care for us.”
“Yeah,” said Hermione, waving her hand in the air abesentmindly, “Whatever.”
They stayed silent for a while then Cho suddenly burst out, “Hey, hey - There’s our rent.”
Hermione followed Cho’s gaze and found herself looking at a black Ferrari with tinted windows. She scoffed, “He’s not gonna want us.”
“Oh yeah? Then why’d he just stop?” asked Cho with a smirk.
The window of the car started to roll down and Hermione found herself staring into the deepest blue eyes she had ever seen. She stood there with her mouth hanging open. The man behind the wheel was gorgeous, he had light brown hair and wore a tight pair of jeans and a tight black t-shirt that left little to the imagination.
“Excuse me,” shouted the man from the Ferrari to Hermione.
“Don’t take less than a hundred Mione, you look hot tonight. And remember, don’t mouth off. They don’t like that,” whispered Cho in Hermione’s ear.
“Okay,” said Hermione, “Go home. But take it easy on that shit.”
Cho gave Hermione a quick hug. You’re the greatest Mione. I’ll wait up for you.”
“Thanks,” shouted Hermione as Cho ran off. Hermione turned and stared at the Ferrari, loathing it and all it represents, everything she couldn’t have. Then, pushing the thought into the back of her mind, she took a deep breath, flicked her hair and waltzed to the car with her chest stuck out and a sexy smile spread on her face. She leaned over the passenger window upon reaching it.
“Hey sugar,” greeted Hermione, “Looking for a date?”
“Huh? What’s that?” said Harry confused, he was beginning to regret taking Draco up on his offer. He was nervous, and Harry Potter did not like being nervous, he’d spent half his life being scared during Voldemort’s rein and he felt a chill, even after the three years since he had been killed.
Harry’s disguise was sparkling blue contacts and he’d dyed his hair a light brown, his scar had been coloured and his face was lengthened. He looked… unrecognisable he had said to himself, I bet Ron wouldn’t have even recognised him, let alone anyone else.
Hermione, slightly perturbed by the man’s lack of response repeated asked, “Are you looking for some company?”
“Uh, actually, ummmm, no. How do you get to The Ritz?”
“What?” said Hermione, dropping the come on, “Are you gonna tell me you’re lost?”
“Yes.”
“Great,” sighed Hermione, “Just great. What do I look like? A tour guide?”
Harry stared deep into Hermione’s eyes when she said this, and he saw the confusion in them and then the disappointment, he felt kind of bad for her, she’s had it rough, he thought and yet there was still a distressed kind of beauty about her. Harry looked her up and down admiring her long legs and full chest, he stared at her short skirt, if you could call it a skirt anyway, it looks more like a belt. “No,” said Harry, breaking the uncomfortable silence, “You look like a hooker.”
“Actually, I’m a movie star out for a walk,” said Hermione, sarcasm dripping off her voice.
“Good. Can you tell me how to get to the Ritz?”
“Sure, for five quid.”
“That’s ridiculous,” scoffed Harry.
“The price just went up to ten.”
“Why don’t you do it out of the goodness of your heart?” Harry asked. Hermione smiled flirtatiously with him. “Alright,” continued Harry, “Why not?” asked Harry as he pulled his wallet out of his pocket.
Hermione suddenly froze and turned around, there, walking towards her, was Dean and Chucky each wearing an evil and menacing grin as they advanced towards her. Hermione had never seen Chucky before, but she had heard the rumours. He had bright orange uncontrollable hair, a pockmarked face and deep menacing blue eyes, he always wore baggy clothing, which he’d normally use to hide drugs he had stashed down his trousers, and he had a certain arrogance about him that was sickening.
“Hey do you have change for a twenty?” asked Harry.
Hermione whipped around startled at the sound of Harry’s voice, she looked from Harry to Dean and Chucky. She opened the door and jumped into the car.
“For twenty, I’ll show you personal. Drive.” Harry stared at Hermione totally shocked, he had just decided to take Draco back on his offer, but was he really going to give up on this chance? He didn’t even know if she was a witch yet or a common muggle. Hermione smiled sweetly at Harry and he figured he could find out if she was a witch soon enough.
“Ok,” replied Harry finally starting the engine.
“Good,” said Hermione, a smile of relief coming to her face, “Make a U-turn. The Ritz is the other way.”
