~ Bond of Marriage ~
chapter 1
THE FORECAST
~~~
'Hey mate! How’ve ya been?' Ronald Weasley called as he saw Prince Harry, heir to the throne of walking towards the castle’s . Ron was the second youngest child of the Earl of Norwich. He was also the closest friend of the Prince and was staying, as of now, at the , - named after one of the Greatest White Wizards that ever lived in their lands, with the royal family.
'I've been through bloody Hell mate, and I haven’t made it back yet! I'm doing awfully bad in my potions and divination class - which mother made me take yesterday!' he grumbled in distaste
'That bad huh?' asked Ron in amusement as he patted Harry’s back and laughed at his annoyance. ‘It’s the Queen's order and she is your mother, besides, you know you’ll make use of it someday!’ - That is if you survive your professors!'
Harry cursed in frustration. 'I bloody hope so!’
'By the way I heard the Princess of Wales is having her eighteenth birthday ball. Our family was invited 'cause of my little sister Ginny, they are totally inseparable when she visits the Burrow you know! Are you coming too?' asked Ron rather too innocently.
Harry looked at him, his exasperation clearly shown in his face. ‘Her parents came yesterday actually; she is my betrothed for Merlin's sake! -And like you don't know that!'
Ron just laughed harder at him in return. 'Oh do not despair milord. Ginny told me that the Princess was of the same beauty as May Flowers –methinks she's a good catch.'
'Your sister is mistaken for sure! The princess was no beau. Although they were at my birthday, I've only had a glimpse of her and she is no such thing I believe, though I don't even remember her then! Queen Juliana excused her when she disappeared suddenly, saying that the princess might be in the Lilac tower reading in one of our libraries! Can you believe that?! That girl would rather read than be with her husband-to-be!'
'Now don't be cruel Harry, the Queen also loves reading remember? If Ginny hears you she'll smack you on the head for saying such things about her friend! But don't worry milord; my brothers are going to be there also! And of course many luscious ladies like my –my, oh my Lavender!' he sighed dreamily.
Harry chuckled at his "star-stroked look" and decided to get back at him for his taunting. ‘I didn’t know you consider her luscious- is there aught the lady Lavender should know? Does thee want me to inform thy fancied lady of such unclean thoughts?’ he smirked as Ron glared at him.
‘Don’t you dare Harry!’ Ron said a little nervous. He was sure that his mother would bash him in the head if she ever learns about his naughty thoughts about a respectable lady like Lavender.
‘I’m not serious Ron! No need to fret.’ Harry laughed louder. ‘really, you should’ve seen your face. It was priceless!’ Ron jested a punch at his shoulder as he let out a sigh. ‘but seriously now, why would she be there? If I remember correctly she’s in .’
‘Honestly mate, you call the princess your betrothed and yet you don’t know her relatives?!’ Ron asked in disbelief. ‘Lavender’s the daughter of the Marquis of Seville. She is cousin of your so-called bride-to-be.’
‘I couldn’t care less Ron.’ Harry shrugged. 'I'm not really sure if I'd enjoy my stay there. If my memory serves me well, I think I remembered my bushy-haired bride stomped on my feet when I was ten when our parents arranged our betrothal.'
‘I’m sure everything will turn out well Harry.’ said Ron before giving him a reassuring smile.
I hope so! He thought grimly as memories the fiery tempered Princess in their childhood mishaps came coursing to his thoughts.
'James, dear, would you stop that pacing!' Queen Lily reprimanded, irritated at her husband's rounds since morning.
King James halted instantly when he saw his wife's rising temper. 'Dumbledore's prediction is getting the best of ' He sighed.
'I know sweetheart, but we can't do anything about this threat but to just hope that we can prevent it.' whispered Lily to her distraught husband soothingly as she hugged him.
*Flashback*
'What did the White Wizard see Liana?' Queen Lily asked nervously at the Queen of Wales.
Juliana anxiously turned to her husband for help. ‘He didn’t really tell us what he saw; just hinted about it.’
‘Then what is it that Dumbledore said Simon?’ asked King James impatiently.
King Simon looked back at his wife reassuringly then turned to the Rulers of England grimly. 'From the tallest tower came a black snake. Revenge and Deceit could bring the Golden Lions to ashes.'
James was outraged upon hearing it. 'Merlin's blood! The Lions are the emblems of !' he shouted angrily.
Lily, her hands on her mouth, went to her husband’s side trembling. 'How could that be? Our years of prosper have just begun and already a knowledge of somebody betraying us is known.' Thoughts of their son quickly filling her head.
*end flashback*
James hugged his wife tightly in return. 'Dearest, actions must be made for our heirs to be secured. They must be wed immediately! Their wedding has been on hold since they were but ten and nine, giving them their chance to enjoy their childhood. But now is the time to continue what was set years ago.
'But milord, we've already agreed that it is to be when the Princess of Wales turns twenty one.' Lily exclaimed, still in his arms.
'A breach of protocol must be made my love. We cannot even wait till their coronation and further more!' He sighed heavily. 'At least we could spare our people, our kingdom or even - maybe our son, Lily.'
'Oh Merlin help us James! May the gods protect our son.' she murmured in great despair as her soft sobs filled the royal chambers.
~~~ a fortnight and three days had passed and the Royal family of England with Ronald Weasley accompanying the Prince, were on their way to the Welshire Castle, where the royal family of Wales resides, for its Princess' ball.
Although both two kingdoms ruled in a partnership, the Royal house of was known to have the upper authority. So the Wales' own Royal house always sees to it that such preparations for their arrival are made and their utmost hospitality and respect are mostly given.
Even when Apparation and travelling by Floo is possible inside the for the royalties and the most trusted friends of the kingdom, Queen Lily still refused to give in to her son and husband's "whining", telling them that not everything must be done using magic and not everyone is capable of what they can do.
'It is rude to just appear there during times like this James! And even if we had already owled them Harry, imagine the panic of those poor servants preparing for our arrival!' were her words
~
'My king, the Royal family of with one of the sons of the Earl of Norwich have arrived, our Royal Steward is already there attending to them.' The servant said bowing her head low.
'Perfect Myrna! Please inform the Princess immediately and tell her that she must see that her betrothed is comfortable. You may leave.' said King Simon in a very good mood. He had a wide smile on his face as he went to his wife who was in the Pink Rose tower where the biggest of their libraries is located. They have seven libraries all in all inside the Welshire castle, one inside the Royal chambers and one also connected to the Princess' chamber. Their Queen and their Princess are especially entranced with books and absolutely love reading everything, like ’s Queen.
'What is your big smile for milord?' Queen Juliana asked, when she spied her husband with his smile coming inside the library for which he rarely did. 'I don't believe I am the reason for it.'
'They've arrived my dear; they are already inside the castle! Come now! Lets us go welcome our Royal guests.'
‘oh they have?’ asked Juliana as she cast a spell that bought the books she was reading back to their respective places. ‘it’s a good day to see our in-laws again, don’t you think?’
‘Aye, it is.’ murmured Simon at her wife’s ear as he guided her through the library’s portrait hole.
