4. So You Wanna......

Chapter Four-Human is my True Form…

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Harry jerked awake; he felt a weight on his lap. He reached down to a lot of bushy hair. Hermione. He heard it again, a faint knocking coming from some where upstairs. He gently moved Hermione's head off his legs, and placed her on the ground; she moaned and turned over, mumbling. He tip toed out of the room, darkness now swallowed the whole house, the halls were filled with shadows, darkened by the night. He followed the light knocking. He stopped. A wall faced him, the knocking was issuing from behind the wall, but there was no door. He slid his fingers down the surface of it, some material was stuck at odd angles over it; he could feel them with his fingers. A small latch ran under his fingers. He dug his fingers under it and pulled it out. A small click sounded in the silence as the wall slid out, revealing a dark, damp tunnel, leading up wards. Harry glanced around before stepping in, the door closing with another reverberated click.

Harry tripped slightly, not realizing there were steps climbing up. A damp smell hung about the air, it was hard to get in oxygen as the stench hung on Harry's every breath. The passage ended suddenly. Torches sprung to light around the darkness, illuminating the darkness, startling Harry. He stared around at the dank room in awe. It seemed he was in a sort of attic; the roof sloped up wards to a point. Old trunks lay on the ground; years of dust covered everything, including the air around him, like a light mist. He began looking around, his steps disturbing the dust covered floor, revealing old wooden boards. Paper littered the floor as well as chests and boxes. An old cauldron lay hidden in half shadow against a wall; books were stacked in all the corners, moth eaten and slightly moldy. Harry reached for the book on the top of the closest pile, sweeping away the dust and reading the worn title Most Potente Potions. Harry remembered all too well the time that he, Hermione and Ron spent in the girls bathroom, inhabited by a ghost named Myrtle and instructed by a book of the same title and made Polyjuice Potion. He sat the book down and moved to the next Dark Magic-The Theories behind the Shadows. Harry ran his fingers over the spine before flipping it open; the first page was blank but speckled with red, which Harry recognized with a jolt as blood. He shut the book immediately, deciding to look at it another time. He peered at the next, it seemed more worn than the previous ones, Harry inspected the title, and a wave of curiousness washed over him. The heading `So You Want To Be an Animagus?' Shown up at him in cracked silver letters. Harry flicked it open nervously, wondering if it was the same book his father and godfather had used.

`So you want to be an Animagus? The process of changing forms from human to animal is at your own risk. Many dangers can occur while transforming, some resulting in being sentenced to a life as an animal. First founded by a medieval wizard by the name of Truid Wandamgald, he stumbled upon the potion while trying to find a cure for were-wolf transformations, being the husband to one, Nandina Wandamgald. The most skilled potion skills are needed to perfect this difficult potion, as well as speaking an incantation, known as the Truid Enchantment, as shown below:

Human is my true form

A beast is my other side

Power is as a storm

As animal doesn't hide

Like a Were

The moon shined

No-one does dare

As I Keep my own Mind

Animagi Animagal Animal form grow

Animagi Animagal Human form Go

Harry memorized the incantation at the bottom of the page, burning it into his mind. He read it again, and continued reading for a while longer, but got disturbed not long after. A great clattering from down-stairs brought him back to his senses; he marked his page and shut the book. He found the dimmed stair case, and heard the lamps behind him fuse off, as he neared the landing at the bottom. He pressed his ear to the wall before stepping out, shutting the door with another slight click. He realised he still hadn't found what had been knocking during the night, but passed it off as another crash emitted from the kitchen. The sun was barely up, but still the morning light shone through the half curtained windows. Harry made his way to the kitchen, but the sight that he met, made him wish that he hadn't. Tonks stood at the table, clearly trying to cook breakfast. The source of the crashes Harry heard lay on the ground in the remains of many ceramic plates. A burning smell hung about the kitchen. Tonks turned not noticing Harry looking at her in amusement. Pits of pancake mixture were stuck on her face, hair and clothes. She had her tongue between her teeth, trying to levitate a plate full off sausages, bacon, eggs and toast to the table, when she looked up. Once she spotted Harry, she lost concentration; the plate began to fall gracefully to the ground, but Harry with his Quidditch reflexes, dived forward and scooped the plate in his hands before ti could clatter to the ground. He placed it on the table, looking up at the still staring Tonks. Her face glowed red behind the bits of pancake mixture, clearly stating her embarrassment.

“Err…'morning Harry. I err…didn't see you there.” Harry smirked at her, making her glow even redder. “Oh…umm I was trying to make umm breakfast……but ahh I can't seem to………oh bugger, I can't seem to do anything right.” She slumped down defeated onto the nearest chair, grabbing a piece of toast and shoving it into her mouth. Harry sat as well, and grabbed some toast.

“Well, the toast is ok” Tonks looked up at him, an angry gleam in her eyes. “How long have you been up?” He asked finishing his toast and leaning back in his chair. She was about to answer when footsteps echoed down the stairs. Lupin appeared in the door way, smiling happily as he spotted Harry and tonks.

“'morning. Who was trying to cook? Oh…sorry Tonks. I see you have made some after all.” He leaned in grabbed a sausage. Harry welcomed him, before excusing him self to go up stairs. He made his way to the bathroom for a hot shower. Once out of the shower, he pulled on his boxers, forgetting to grab robes before hand. While rounding the corner to head into Ron's room, he walked into someone with bushy brown hair.

“'morning, `mione. Sorry.” But Hermione's face was growing red as she looked at Harry's half naked figure. Harry followed her eyes to his boxers, where he gave off a slight laugh. “Hermione, they're boxers.” Hermione looked startled, and reddened even more.

“Err…I know Harry, it's just….i…..haven't seen you……that…..less clothing…..” She smiled weakly up at him before turning and running into the room beside Ron's. Harry shook his head, before heading off to change. Back downstairs ten minutes later almost everyone was up. When Harry walked into the bustling kitchen, he spotted Hermione who was avoiding his eyes. Mrs Weasley was up and making a proper and more accurate breakfast, Tonks's breakfast lay forgotten on the bench, while Tonks sat disgruntled at the table. Harry took a seat next to Hermione and Mr Weasley, who was reading the Daily Prophet with a look of content upon his freckled face. He grinned and looked up when Harry took a seat, setting the paper on the table.

“There is nothing in the paper. Fudge has been keeping quiet and has said nothing about the day at the Ministry.” He leaned back in his seat, purely happy. There was another knock somewhere but this time Mrs Weasley answered.

“Arthur, could you get that. It should be Fred and George with Ron.” Mr Weasley disappeared and reappeared a moment later, with three other red-heads in tow. Ron, who had always been tall, had grown another few inches in his time away, and gained, if possible, an even ganglier form. Harry greeted them as did Hermione and the rest off them. Ron heaved into a seat opposite Harry and Hermione.

“We've been in Romania with Charlie. You's should see Norbert now, he's at least fifty feet long, I swear!” Harry smiled slightly at the remembrance of the dragon that they had once lost one hundred and fifty points for.
