Million Echoes

3. Two

Disclaimers: [I totally forgot in the past chapters…sorry] As you probably know, Harry Potter and characters don’t belong to me. But I can still have fun with ‘em!

A/N: Alrighty then, I have a question! How can you get a large amount of space? I’m saving the chapters in .html but the actual space between the author’s note and the story isn’t working. Please just leave it in a review if you can. Thanks a ton.

Two

"How in blood hell did you land a detention and a partnership with Draco bloody Malfoy?!" Natalie yelled, her breath coming in short pants.

Virginia smirked knowing Nat had the largest crush on him.

"Well, Snape paired us and Snape gave us detention," she said with a shrug.

Natalie smacked her playfully. She tapped her watch waiting for Virginia to notice the time. She looked up from her Charms assignment. She noticed Natalie watching her carefully and stared at Natalie wondering what was wrong.

"Quidditch practice Gin!" Natalie finally yelled laughing as Virginia shrieked and ran tripping over every couple of stairs. She didn’t bother to put her stuff away because she knew it would still be there later on. They were Gryffindors after all.

In her dorm, she quickly grabbed her quidditch gear and robe. Putting on the robe and then getting each hand into the glove. She put on her leather cleat-like thing and grabbed her Nimbus 2001.

"Thanks Nat! Bye Nat!" she called running through the portrait of the Fat Lady.

"Honestly," she could hear her mutter. Virginia smiled to know she upset the Fat Lady. It was pretty funny too. Especially when it was late at night and she wouldn’t let you back in.

"Finally Gin!" Harry Potter said as Virginia approached the huddle. "Was just asking if anyone saw you lately."

"Alright team, our next match is against Slytherin. We need to work and train hard. They play dirty, rotten, and cheap so you Gin, Dean, and Thera better watch out. They’ll send bludgers your way so fast. Also Ron, don’t let Malfoy get to you understand?" Harry asked grinning slightly. Ron’s face held a flush of pink but he said nothing. The beaters, Emily Wilkinson and Leeanne Wood weren’t here at practice due to the fact they both had detention with Binns. Thera Birch was a new exchange student but seemed to be an excellent chaser along with working well with both Dean Thomas and Virginia Weasley.

Virginia rolled her eyes knowing they would cream Slytherin team anyway. She ignored Potter like usual and looked around noticing a glimpse of blonde. Her vision zeroed in and saw the distinct pale aristocratic like features and lost them as he moved. She caught another glimpse and waved.

"’Oy Malfoy!" she called out smirking at him.

"Malfoy?!" Harry and Ron asked enraged. Their ears perked up to notice the blonde boy heading their way.

Draco smiled charmingly at everyone before gently grabbing Virginia’s arm.

"Come to spy on us Malfoy?" Ron asked cracking his knuckles.

Draco sneered, "No Weasley…not much to ‘spy’ on anyway. Just going to borrow Red for a moment." Draco quickly steered her away from the pitch and pulled her along. He explained for them to meet in the Potions classroom at 7 to start working on their project.

"Can’t," she said holding her hand up to halt his flow of speech.

"And why the bloody hell not?" he asked angrily. When he rearranged his schedule for people they always accepted. They never refuse him. Especially since he is so busy with his life and all.

"I’m tutoring Blaise in Herbology," she said smiling sweetly before turning back towards the pitch.

She flicked him the finger before bouncing off and mounting her broom to begin the shorter, two-hour practice.

"Let’s go Zabini," Virginia muttered under her breath. She wasn’t too happy and seemed to be having an awful night. After being questioned by Ron and Harry she couldn’t seem to be able to make a goal or a decent pass. During dinner she spilled pumpkin juice on herself by mistake. And now she had to tutor that god-awful Slytherin; Blaise Zabini. Plus in exactly 58 minutes and 34 seconds she would be spending detention with a cheerful Draco Malfoy.

"Sorry I’m late," Blaise said sarcastically.

Virginia rolled her eyes. "Yeah well, sorry you’re failing Herbology and I’m not."

"Hmmm, yes, that too."

She sighed and slammed the book down earning her a death glare from Madam Pince. Blaise stared at her underneath a cool dementor.

"I know that you aren’t stupid. I also know that the only reason you’re getting tutored is because you don’t bother. So how about you just pretend to do this and then we can both go on our merry way," Virginia suggested. Blaise sighed and nodded knowing she knew.

He picked up the book and leafed through it aimlessly.

"Favorite color?"

"Huh?" Virginia asked coming out from her trance.

"Favorite color?" he repeated.

"Oh, I guess red," she said laughing as if she said the most humorous thing ever. "You?"

"Either black or blue," he said sarcastically.

"You make a good Slytherin," she commented noticing his act of superiority and his calm expression.

"You make a lousy Gryffindor," he commented dryly.

She smiled fake-ly and nodded knowing what he meant. She knew she may have been brave and she may have been a Gryffindor at heart but maybe when she grew up she realized that life wasn’t easy believing everything to be nice and fruity. So of course she changed. She liked to call it "growing up" though…sounded better. Made her sound more mature.

"So you must be pretty smart to be tutoring me when you’re supposed to be in year 6, right?"

"I guess. I don’t know. It’s not like anyone notices or anything," she said shrugging feeling slightly sad that no one truly noticed her. Even her best friend, Natalie didn’t know her for her. No one did, not the dream team, not her family, not her best friend, not even her favorite brother Fred.

"They do. Especially when you’re usually stuck with Granger in your class," he said smiling faintly. She smiled also at the comment knowing that Hermione was outraged to know she would be having several classes with them. It made Virginia feel smarter while it made Hermione look stupid. Virginia was also training to become an anigmus – of course no one knew of that either except Fred, or Gred; whichever you prefer.

"Hey look! It’s Potty and the Weasel!"

Blaise and Virginia rolled their eyes at the childishness between Ron, Harry, and Draco. Blaise scoffed at his own housemate. Virginia laughed at the stupidity of her brother and Potter who she once worshipped.

"Will he ever grow up?" she asked sarcastically.

"Actually Weasley, I have already," a cold voice rang from behind her. She turned around slowly as she noticed Zabini’s emotionless face.

"Good for you Malfoy. Reason you rang?"

"Just wanted to remind you of our detention, which starts in one minute," he said smiling cruelly.

"WHAT?!" she screamed receiving a "Miss Weasley! Please!" from Pince. She took off running towards the dungeons leaving both Draco and Blaise in her dust.

"How long you think it’ll take her before she realizes she still has at least 10 minutes?" Blaise asked yawning.

Draco shrugged his shoulders and began slowly walking towards the dungeons himself. Blaise grabbed her books she left and handed them to Draco telling him to give them to her. Draco nodded and left the quiet library.

"DRACO MALFOY I’M GOING TO KILL YOU AND RIP YOU APART PIECE BY PIECE. THEN I’M GOING TO PUT YOU BACK TOGETHER. THEN I’M GOING TO KILL YOU AGAIN! I HATE YOU, YOU NASTY FERRET!"

Draco winced as he could hear her voice from the point he was standing at, which was only near the entrance starting for the dungeons. This was going to be the longest night and detention of his entire life. And to think, it hasn’t even started yet.
