Chapter 4

~*~*~

Ginny was quiet all through breakfast and Hermione kept on glancing nervously at Harry. Soon, it was time for Ginny to go to her morning classes so she stood up quietly and grabbed her books on the way. Herbology, Divination and Transfiguration, she thought with a small sigh of complaint at the thought of all those tiresome lessons, especially boring Divination.  The Gryffindors 7th years had Transfiguration right before the 6th years so Ginny would be able to see Herm, in-between classes and maybe talk to her while McGonagall waited for the rest of the students to fill in their seats.

“Listen guys, I think I’ll head over to classes early, okay?” she asked as she gripped her books to her chest, her book bag slung over her right shoulder.

“Okay Gin, see you after Transfiguration” Hermione bid her goodbye and went back to her inviting piece of buttered and smoothened with jam, piece of toast.

As Ginny walked out of the Great Hall, she failed to notice a pair of piercing grey eyes, which had been following her every movement since she had walked in a half an hour before.

~*~*~

Ginny had just finished Divination and was climbing down the tower staircase. She was about to enter the Transfiguration hallway when out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a flash of fuzzy brown hair and some of raven black hair. Getting ready to go greet her two friends she found that she was rooted to the spot by the abrupt shock of their strange conversation, confused and somewhat angry.

“Harry, I’m sorry, but I don’t think things will work out between us?” Hermione said

“What do you mean,” asked Harry nervously.

“Oh Harry, don’t make it harder than it already is. What I’ve been trying to tell you is that I can’t be your girlfriend anymore. It just that……Never mind!”

“Just that what Hermione? If a girl breaks up with me, I think I have the right to know why?”

Instead of replying Hermione sighed and looked at the floor.

“Answer me dammit!” he yelled.

She looked up into Harry’s big emerald orbs. “I love somebody else!”

“Who?” he asked again more calmly

“M...... Malfoy!” she said and ran off.

Harry punched the wall, and stalked off, mad and jealous.

Meanwhile, Ginny couldn’t believe what she’d just heard. Hermione fancied Malfoy. Oh gods, she thought to herself, I can’t be with Malfoy, I would be breaking Hermione’s heart if she finds out. Besides, I don’t really love him, sure the kissing was great, but Harry still claims my heart. I’ll brake up with him at lunch.

~*~*~

“You wanted to talk to me little Red?” Draco drawled lazily as he fingered a lock of herred, curly hair.

She pushed his hand away and looked him in the eye.

“We need to talk Malfoy!”

“What about?” he asked.

“About us,” she said seriously.

“Us, what about us? We’re together,” he stated.

“That’s just the thing, we can’t be together!”

“Why not? I want you more than anything in the world.” He said and pulled her close.

She was as people portrayed her, innocent and wouldn’t dare hurt a fly, but here she was standing, breaking somebody’s heart and despite that people said Malfoy didn’t own a heart, she hated every minute of it. She wriggled her way out of his grasp and spoke again, “Sorry, Malfoy, but I just can’t be with you. In time you’ll understand.” She said and left him frozen in shock.

“And just when I figured I love you angel, you walk all over me…” he whispered softly and left a tear roll down his cheek. He wiped it away and straightened himself before walking away towards the dungeons, a grim and cold expression set onto his porcelain features. .

I bet it was Saint bloody Potter’s fault. The girl still loves him…… Well I’ll teach him a lesson. His mudblood bitch of a girlfriend will be mine, and Potter will be crushed when she prefers me over him, he thought and chuckled lightly, smirking evilly.

~*~*~

Hermione was walking back from potions along side Harry, who had ‘forgiven’ her, and Ron, when her book-bag spilled open. He two boys bent down and started helping her.

“You go ahead with out me, I’ll be fine” she said

“Are you sure?” Harry asked.

“Yes, I’m sure, now go and get to lunch.” She gestured for the boys to leave and started gathering her books once more.

Excellent, Malfoy thought as he walked towards the leaning frame of Hermione.

“How are you doing, Hermione?” he asked huskily.

Hermione’s head snapped up and their eyes locked. Her heart was fluttering in her chest as she opened her mouth to make a rude comment but only stuttered a polite response.

“F……..Fine. Than…...k…….you!”

“Listen Hermione,I was wondering, would you like tosit with me at the Slytherin table and you know, talk?” Draco asked charmingly. Hermione looked at him with dazed eyes, but also a calculating gaze that said what her mouth couldn’t…*Why?*. Draco noticed this and felt the need to assure her, in order to go forward with his plan. “It’s just that over the summer I’ve noticed you’ve grown into a pretty thing and Potter’s not worth your attentions. So are you coming?”

“I-I……would love to,”

“Great, let me help you with your books, and then we can walk to lunch together.” He said and Hermione nodded shyly.

Having forgotten a textbook in Snape’s classroom, Harry had gone back, only to overhear Hermione and Malfoy’s conversation. He stalked off angrily, a malicious plan forming in his head as he entered the Great Hall, and sat beside Ginny. Book forgotten he started talking with the 16 year-old redhead.

“So Ginny,” he started, “want to walk with me?” he asked

“Sure,” she agreed and stood up, folding her napkin and placing it on the table.

Once outside, they strode over to the edge of the lake and sat down on the grass, leaning on a tree for support.

“Ginny, “he begun again, “I’ve been meaning to ask you, do you have a boyfriend?”

“No………Why?” she asked as she felt light headed and a slight creep of dizziness sweep over her as he spoke. But another voice in her head, made her speak up boldly, “Has Ron asked you to ask me this question? Seriously, why is he so interested in my love life…”

“It’s not Ron…” Harry paused and took Ginny’s hand into his. Well, I was wondering if you would like to go out with me, you know into Hogsmeade sometime?”

“Sure, why not?” she said smoothly.

“Can I kiss you Gin?” Harry asked, faking a shy blush.

Ginny nodded and blushed hotly. Harry captured her lips in a fiery, hungry passionate kiss. Ginny lost track and failing to notice, he had her soon enough pressed to the ground beneath him.

Behind the tree, a hooded person was hidden in the shadows. Oh you’ll get what’s coming to you Potter, it thought and then left, joining his brown haired girlfriend.

~*~*~

A week had past, and the fall dance was fast approaching. Hermione and Ginny had bought their robes a week ago, none mentioning their boyfriend along the way.

Draco was pacing through his dorm. I’ve got to see her, fell her lips pressed against mine. I need to fell her, to touch her silky skin…Gods, this is maddening…She’s just a girl…and what a girl! ARGH!  He groaned loudly in frustration then smirked satisfactory as an idea seemed to float into his head.

Yes, yes, that would definitely work. All I need to do is sneak some ingredients from Snape’s cupboard, and then I could go on with the plan.

~*~*~

Ginny was eating her lunch, quietly, beside Ron, when a school owl dropped a letter in her lap.

“Kind of late for mail, don’t you think so?” Ron asked his sister, “Who’s it from?”

Ginny shrugged and opened the letter. Written in green ink there was a note from Harry.

Meet me in the west tower, right after lunch. Skip classes!

H.P.

Odd, she thought, Harry never signs his initials when he writes to me. Oh well, then went back to her lunch.

~*~*~

After she was done eating, she made sure, everybody had already left, before she stood up and left as well, heading for the west tower.

When she reached the big wooden door, she pushed it open and stepped inside. Being an abandoned tower, there was very little light, but enough for a person to see.

“Harry,” she called “Where are you?”

She gave a little yelp of surprised as she was grabbed by her waist by a pair of strong male arms and pressed against a wall. He pointed his wand towards the door and locked it.

“Harry?” she asked again looking in the face of the man, only to stare back into her Potter’s big neon eyes.

“Glad you could make it!” he said huskily. Before she could say anything else, her lips were captured into a demanding, lustful, and surprisingly, loveable kiss. His hands roamed over her body lusciously as she moaned in delight, surprised that Harry knew her body so well.

“Harry,” she moaned

“I love you,” he whispered lovingly as he caressed her cheek.

She was about to kiss him again when his hair started changing colours. She gasped as she saw blond locks of hair, falling seductively in the way of an intense pair of silver-grey eyes.
