Summer is here and I'm out of school, and since I have no life, this story will be finished by the end of the summer! I haven't updated in so long, I don't even know if anyone is still going to read this. If you do, and love it or hate it, it doesn't matter, as long as you have some opinion, PLZ PLZ PLZ review! it means a great deal to me! thanks!
Hermione looked at both Harry and Ron's stunned faces, not quite sure what to do. She gulped a little, and tried to clear her throat.
"We were...umm.... I'm not really sure we know what's going on, "her voice trailed off and she looked desperately at Harry, hoping he would step in.
He got the hint, and, his face turning a very deep shade of red, tried to think of something comprehendible to say. "It all started when I wanted to give Hermione a treat, so I showed her some stuff, and then she got a little overly happy, and Oh, God, this isn't sounding right is it?"
Ron shook his head curtly, and Hermione decided that if she didn't want him to think they doing something very far from what they were really doing, she would have to explain this herself. She counted to five calmly in her head before looking up at Ron, staring him straight in the eyes. The betrayal that lie there almost broke her heart.
"Ron, here's what happened. Harry wanted to cheer me up since I was so sad today, so he decided to show me our new library. That was the treat," She said glancing warily at Harry. He sure had a way with words. "I was so ecstatic that I kissed him, and it was just an in the moment thing. It was just a quick kiss. Neither of us really knew what we were doing."
Ron stepped in from under the doorway, and sat himself down on a chair, making sure to distance himself from the both of them. Errol picked himself up from where he lay on the floor, and with a quick snip of Ron's finger, flew off to another room in the flat to nurse his bruises.
Ron looked at them, not sure what emotion he was supposed to be feeling. He opened his mouth slowly, and with a voice that was cold and distant, so unlike his normal booming cheerful one, finally spoke up. "I don't know what happened in the library, but I know what I saw here, and that kiss was anything but 'one between friends.' God, I thought it would always be the three of us. Best mates forever. Now it's going to be the two of you, and me, a third wheel, forgotten by the side."
"You didn't let me finish Ron," Hermione said softly. "And nothing like that would ever happen. Are you joking? We're best friends, all three of us, and nothing is ever going to change that! Think of how much we've been through! Do you think anyone could ever even try to come between our friendship? I'd like to see them try! And now, about the library. After that kiss, I got really embarrassed and ran into here, needing some time on my own. I got a note from Molly saying that the plans have changed and they're visiting here in the morning. I needed to get a cage and food for Errol, so I went to talk to Harry. I started to realize I had feelings for him, and then, next thing you know we were kissing. That's when you walked in. We're really sorry Ron, we never wanted to hurt you. We didn't even know this was going to happen ourselves. It's just that everything's changing so fast!"
Ron looked at the pair of them, and shuddered when he realized how perfect a couple they looked. Harry, so strong and handsome, looking worriedly at her, and rubbing her back in small circles. Hermione the timeless beauty, her wide brown chocolate eyes looking nervous, squeezing Harry's free hand to try and ease her worry. He knew he would never fit in with them like this. Sure they'd try, they really would, but they'd always have to make choices. Days they'd usually all go out to eat, would instead be a dinner date for two. He'd have to be careful walking into a room, lest them be in the middle of a snog fest. And he would never be able to let go of the ache in his heart.
He opened his mouth; he had to be sure, sure this was something real, and not just a fling. "Are you two just attracted to each other? Or is it love?"
Hermione turned to look at Harry, her eyes widening. She knew she loved him, she had even admitted it to him. But how he felt, she had no idea. Obviously he liked her if he would kiss her, but when did attraction end and love begin? "I know my feelings, but I don't know Harry's. I love both of you to death Ron, you know that. But I love Harry and you in different ways. You know me so well it can scare me sometimes. It's like a sibling love. With the protectiveness, and easiness of it. It's something that is so pure and simple. The way I love Harry is different," She turned towards Harry as she spoke, not able to believe she was really saying this. She fought the blush rising to her cheeks once again, before forcing herself to start talking. "I love Harry with a more romantic love. It's like the love I have for you except it's when I'm around him I feel complete. I feel like I finally have a purpose in life, and that's to be by his side." A tear flowed down her cheek and she swiped it away quickly. Everything was out in the open, and it was now time to see how Ron and Harry would take it. Harry stopped rubbing her back and turned her head.
"I love you too," he said. "More than you know." He turned to Ron, and laughed, "And if you think we're going to stop being best mates because of this, you're dead wrong."
Ron looked up at him and smiled a small but unsure smile. "I wish you both the best of luck. I know you two will make each other happy," with this he tried to choke back tears. "I'll be in my room for a little bit. I need some time to myself." He turned to get up, and walked to the door, but stopped and turned slowly. "Take care of her Harry." With this he walked out and silently closed the door.
Harry watched the door for a few minutes without moving. With a sinking stomach he realized, Oh Merlin, Ron loves Hermione too.
So, what do you think? Good, bad? Not so great? Just let me know! I promise I won't get mad! It really helps my writing! Thanks! Erin
