Chapter 1: Fallen

Heaven bent to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight

She took my hand and whispered that it would be okay. She said everything would work out in the end. And I believed her.

Because she was my love.

She took my hand and told me that I didn't have to fight anymore; that I could rest. And I believed her.

Because she was my love.

But then she let go of my hand. And I lost my peace. I lost my rest.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear

I will never forget that night. The night where my world ended. The night where I lost everything. It is burned into my memory, always there, repeating over and over in my mind.

I know now, what I did not know then. I am wiser now, four years removed. But this knowledge means nothing. It cannot help me. It will not help me. Wiser now, but still stupid. Still naïve.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

The moment where my world was whole. The moment you know you will never reach again, and will spend the rest of your life trying to reach again.

Funny, how everything seems clearer now, when the pain is the greatest. I suppose that's okay. It's good to understand everything before you can't understand anything.

This world has no need of me and I of it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heaven bent to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turned their heads embarassed
Pretend that they don't see
But it's one missed step
You'll slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed

She took my hand, and with it, my heart. She made everything okay. She made me believe that everything would turn out alright.

She took my hand, she told me that I would be able to rest. That I would not have to fight anymore.

And I believed her.
