Never Kiss And Tell
Ginny gave Blaise a business-like-look and settled herself more comfortably. “Ok so why didn't you tell me you had a thing for my friend?” Ginny asked, as if it was the biggest news since the school found out Professor Flitwick and Madam Sprout were dating.
Blaise frowned as though thinking over what he might say, “I guess because it was really none of your business.” He said finally with a grin.
Ginny shook her head, “Well Hermione told me what happened anyway, as you already guessed. So I want to know what made you do it. Surely you know how uptight she is?” Ginny asked, eyeing him beadily.
“What is this interrogate Blaise hour or something?” Blaise asked with an amused grin. “Well I suppose I could tell you. After all, it's not like I have Draco to confide in anymore.”
Ginny nodded and waited expectantly for him to talk.
Blaise was silent for a minute, pondering on how he should word it. “I guess I've always noticed her. She's intelligent, beautiful and speaks her mind. It's more than what the Slytherin girls do, besides Pansy of course. But I guess I didn't really give it any thought until we were stuck in that room together while you and Malfoy were of on the date of disaster.”
“What happened?” Ginny asked intrigued.
Blaise grinned, “I'll tell you….”
Blaise watched as Ginny walked out of the room, taking Draco's spirit with her. He turned his forest green eyes towards the girl who was in the room with him. Her light brown, slightly curly hair was pulled back into a bun, but he could tell it was very bushy. Her honey brown eyes were peering at the now empty body of Ginny.
He smirked to himself and walked over. “So Granger, how are we supposed to help those two?” Blaise asked, giving the clichéd manly pose as he leant against the wall next to her.
Hermione frowned and bit her lip slightly (very cute, Blaise thought to himself), “I don't know. I wish there was something we could do for them, but I have never read anything about this anywhere. Have you?” She asked quickly.
Blaise shook his head. “It's quite amusing really, it will be a shame when they switch. I'm quite enjoying the Weaslette's company.”
Hermione raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. “Well I can't say the same for Malfoy. All he does is complain.”
Blaise laughed, “Yeah well, he's always been like that.”
Hermione shrugged, “I guess. I wouldn't really know.”
Blaise nodded and looked at her with an amused grin, “So what's it like being best friends with Harry Potter?”
Hermione frowned, “He's only a boy, just like you. I'd imagine it would be the same as being best friends with any other boy.”
Blaise looked at her thoughtfully, “I think I can understand that.”
Ginny smiled, “I think I see why you like her.”
Blaise looked at her, “Why then?” He asked with a small smile.
“Because she sees people for who they are and not what they are. You find that attractive because no other girl you know does that.” Ginny said simply.
Blaise laughed, “I guess you're right.”
“Of course I'm right.” Ginny stated firmly. “Now then as to what Hermione said. She's confused. I suggest you just let her have her space for a while, so she can get her mind around everything.”
Blaise nodded. “Alright.”
OOOOOOOO
Three Days Later…
“Hey Ginny wait up!” Harry hollered as he spotted Draco walking down the hallway.
Draco sighed and reluctantly waited for Harry to catch up.
“Why have you been avoiding me?” Harry said when he finally caught up.
Draco frowned. He really didn't know what to say. I mean, he couldn't very well say, `I'm not Ginny, I'm Draco Malfoy, and I don't like you.' So he had to think of some excuse for the distance he had put between himself and Harry. “I've been busy.” Draco said dismissively.
Harry grabbed Draco's arm and moved closer to him, looking straight in his eyes, “Ginny, what is wrong with you?”
“N-nothing.” Draco said startled at Harry's sudden closeness.
Harry moved even closer, and Draco was beginning to feel very uncomfortable. “Look Ginny, I don't want us to fall apart. I know I haven't been very attentive, but I promise things will get better.”
Draco looked at him horrified. Harry was getting quite sentimental here, and Draco did not want to be caught in this. “I-”
“Please Ginny, give me another chance.” Harry pleaded and kissed him firmly on the lips.
A look of revulsion came over Draco's face, as he thrust Harry back from him forcefully. “What the hell do you think you're doing?” Draco yelled disgusted.
Harry looked confused and a little hurt. “What's wrong with you!” Harry shouted back.
“Don't you get it?” Draco said angrily, “I don't like you!” Draco wiped his lips angrily and muttered, “I can't believe you just kissed me. Ugh now I'll have to wash my lips or something. Gross.”
Harry just stared at him blankly. “Fine. I've had enough. We're through Ginny. Why don't you go off to Draco Malfoy; it's obvious you like him.”
Draco laughed, “I might do just that.”
Harry glared at him and stalked off down the corridor.
Draco began to walk in the opposite direction all the time fuming over what just happened. `Stupid git! What does she see in him anyway.' Draco thought angrily. `He can't even kiss that good.' Draco laughed to himself slightly, `Wonder how she'll react when she finds out I made Harry dump her.'
OOOOOOOOOO
“YOU WHAT!” Ginny screamed when Draco told her.
Draco shrugged and tried to look unaffected by Ginny's obvious seething anger; he should know, it was his face he was looking at.
“I can't believe you made Harry dump me for your own selfishness!” Ginny shouted.
“Look it seemed like it was going to happen anyway. I don't know what you're so angry about.” Draco replied nonchalantly.
Draco watched as Ginny's face contorted with fury and suddenly she leaped on him.
“YOU-STUPID-ANNOYING-IDIOT!” She screamed as she tried to hit him.
“Ahh Weasley, get off. You're killing me. I'm serious GET OFF!” Draco shouted as he squirmed underneath her.
“WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?” A loud voice shouted from above them angrily.
Draco and Ginny both looked up to see Professor McGonnagall looking at them with complete shock and fury. Her nostrils flared and her eyes narrowed, so she looked positively hawk-like.
“This behaviour is not tolerated in the school. Fifty points from Slytherin and Gryffindor and both of you will receive a detention and will be serving it tonight in the Great Hall. I am absolutely disgusted.” Professor McGonagall said coldly.
Ginny quickly got of Draco and nodded. Draco stood up slowly and nodded.
“Good now both of you out of my sight.” She snapped and swept off down the hallway.
Draco gave Ginny an annoyed glance, “Thanks a lot Weasley. You just got us a detention because you can't control your temper.”
“Well you shouldn't have made Harry dump me then. I just can't believe you would do this. This is my life you're ruining.” Ginny said annoyed.
Draco raised an eyebrow, “Come on Weasley, you can't be serious in thinking that Potter was the best boyfriend. I've had to put up with him for almost a week now and I don't know how you did it.”
Ginny was silent. He was right of course. Harry was hardly ever around, always running off with Ron and Hermione to do crazy adventures and she was always the one left behind. Sure they kissed and went on dates but Harry always seemed preoccupied. It was almost as if he was using her as a distraction to his life and the problems in it. “Just leave me alone Malfoy.” Ginny said quietly.
Draco looked at her sad expression and felt something tug at his heart, was it pity?
“Weasley I-”
“You've already done enough. Please just leave me.” Ginny said firmly.
Draco sighed and walked away. For some reason he felt worse than when Harry kissed him. Was it possible he actually cared about the little Weasley's feelings? Maybe it was just the effects of being in her body for so long? Yes that must be it. Malfoy's did not care about Weasleys…right?
OOOOOOOOOO
Ginny sat brooding by the Slytherin common room fire. Her gray eyes stared into the smouldering flames, reflecting the anger burning within her.
The door opened and Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle all walked in with smug expressions on their faces.
“What's up with you Draco?” Blaise said as he came to sit down next to her.
Crabbe and Goyle walked off to go look at the new toy they `borrowed'.
Ginny gave a hollow laugh, “Malfoy made Harry dump me.”
Blaise looked surprised. “He did?”
Ginny nodded and looked at Crabbe and Goyle who had appeared to have broken the toy. Sighing she turned back to Blaise, “For some reason I don't feel as angry as I should.”
“What do you mean?” Blaise asked curiously.
Ginny shrugged, “I realise now he doesn't love me, and I know that I don't love him. I guess I felt obligated to date him. I've had a crush on him since second year but now I see that's all it was.”
“So it was a good thing he dumped you then.” Blaise said, watching for her reaction.
Ginny sighed, “I guess. I'm still angry that Malfoy made him dump me though. I should've been the one to tell him.”
Blaise nodded, “That's understandable, but hey, look on the bright side of things, you just got Draco to do your dirty work, and now you don't have to put up with the sulking and erratic outbursts from Potter.”
Ginny laughed, “I guess you're right. So uh, how's things with Hermione. I haven't seen her in a while.”
Blaise grinned, “Well-”
“Hey Draco, looks like your owls got a letter for you.” Crabbe yelled by the window.
“Oh.” Ginny said surprised. `I wonder who this could be from.' She thought to herself.
Standing up from the chair, she walked over to Crabbe and took the letter from the owl. It was in dark green parchment and felt very heavy. `Certainly nothing we could afford' she thought with a slightly bitter smile.
Ginny sat down next to Blaise and gave him a sly look, “Should we open it?”
Blaise shrugged, “I guess he deserves it. Sure let's open it.”
Ginny nodded and opened the letter. She didn't really care about getting Draco back. She just wanted to satisfy her curiosity.
“What does it say?” Blaise asked, as he leaned over to read the letter.
Ginny peered at the flowing, and very feminine writing. It said:
Dear Draco,
I know you wanted to stay with Blaise again these holidays, but I would like you to come home for Christmas.
Love Narcissa.
“That's it.” Ginny said, plainly disappointed.
“I guess.” Blaise shrugged.
“Oh shoot!” Ginny shouted and sat up.
“What?” Blaise said startled.
“I forgot my detention.” Ginny said quickly and ran out of the common room.
OOOOOOOOOOO
Ginny walked into the Great Hall to see Draco looking bored and Professor McGonagall looking very stern.
“You're late Mister Malfoy.” She said crossly.
“Sorry Professor.” Ginny said quickly.
McGonagall sniffed and looked at them both sternly. “For you're detention you are going to work together in polishing the floors of the Great Hall, with no magic!”
Draco and Ginny exchanged horrified glances.
“I only hope this will teach you not to behave in such a disgusting way again.” She said coldly and caused two cloths and bottles of polish to appear. “I suggest you start now, or else you will be here all night. I'll be checking to see what you have done later.”
Draco and Ginny watched as Professor McGonagall walked out of the Great Hall and immediately turned on each other.
“This is all your fault!” They said in unison
“My fault?” they said together angrily.
“Oh, blaming each other isn't going to work let's just do this.” Ginny said tiredly.
Draco scowled and picked up a cloth and polish plonked himself down on the ground as he started polishing the floor.
Ginny sighed and did the same, occasionally giving glances towards Draco, who wore the expression of someone who had just swallowed bubotuber pus.
Two Hours Later…
“Ok…. what's your favourite Quidditch Team?” Ginny asked as she looked at the stars.
Draco turned his head slightly from where he was lying and looked at Ginny with a smirk, “Easy. The Silver Tails of course.”
Ginny laughed, “Same.”
“I would have thought you'd be a Chudley Canons fan.” Draco said mockingly.
“No way. They're terrible!” Ginny said bluntly.
Draco smiled to himself and stared up at the starry ceiling above them. “I wonder how he did that.”
“Did what?” Ginny asked from beside him.
“How he made the stars come inside.” Draco said softly.
Ginny shrugged, “I dunno. It's pretty cool though.”
“Yeah.” Draco said absently.
Ginny looked at him from the ground and sighed, “Do you think we'll ever get our bodies back Malfoy? I mean the Christmas holidays are tomorrow and if we're still stuck like this, then we won't be able to go home.”
Draco shifted slightly and looked at her, “Hopefully things will work out.”
Ginny nodded. “Well I guess we better finish polishing these floors.”
“I suppose.” Draco said as he sat up of the ground. “McGonagall might come back again anyway.”
“Oh you're right.” Ginny said quickly and began polishing the floor.
Draco picked up his cloth and started polishing beside Ginny.
Ginny glanced at him, “You know Malfoy.”
“Yeah?” Draco said absently.
“When we get our bodies back, will you-I mean, we can still be friends right?” Ginny said quickly.
Draco stopped polishing and looked at her. “You call me your friend?” he asked curiously.
Ginny shrugged, “Well, I mean, me and Blaise have gotten quite close, and I wouldn't want me and you to go back to mindlessly baiting each other.”
Draco stared at her disbelievingly, “So you want to be friends with me?”
Ginny nodded, “Yeah…is that so hard to believe?”
Draco shook his head, “No. I don't think it is possible for us to go back how we were anyway. I know too much about you. I mean. I've been pretending to be you for almost a week.”
“So I guess we're friends then?” Ginny asked, holding out a hand.
Draco nodded and took her hand, “I guess we are.”
They looked at each other and laughed, neither of them noticing the teary eyed Professor McGonagall watching from the doors.
OOOOOOOOOOO
Draco walked into the Gryffindor common room and sat down next to Hermione.
“How'd your detention go?” Hermione asked, while she knitted elf hats.
“It was alright.” Draco said absently. He was still thinking of how funny it was when Ginny fell over after they had finished polishing the floor; after that, they had spent the next fifteen minutes sliding around on the floors.
Ron walked over and sat down next to Draco. “Hey Ginny, have you got your stuff packed?”
“Packed for what?” Draco asked slowly.
“We're going home tomorrow. Didn't I already tell you that?” Ron asked, his eyebrows almost disappearing into his hair.
“No.” Draco said bluntly.
“Oh well we are. Better get packing then.” Ron said with a careless grin and started talking to Hermione about bats.
`I have to spend Christmas with the Weasleys?' Draco thought to himself, `This is going to be awful.'
