Harry Potter and the Prophecy of Light and Dark

Disclaimer-I don't own Harry potter and never will. Now sorry for not writing for ages but I'm sick off school, having heaps of assignments due. I have two due next week and haven't even started. Bugger! Well hope you's like this chapter, I don't know when I'll finish it hopefully today! I need suggestions for Luna's form; I know the others, ha-ha!

Chapter Ten- Deep Concentration and a Dreadful potion

The next morning bloomed bright and early for Harry, as he was awoken at near dawn by Hedwig drumming her beak against his skull. He awoke grumpily snatching the letter from her talons, causing her to hoot disgustedly, flying back out of the open window. He unrolled the parchment reading through the loopy writing, the smell of perfume wafting to his nose. He read then re-read the letter to make sure he wasn't seeing things. It was from Cho.

Dear Harry

I know that I made a lot of mistakes last year, and I would like to give it another chance, give us another chance. I like you Harry, and I'm sure the feelings mutual. Please meet me in the owlery as soon as you read this, as I'll be waiting for you. Please come,

Love Always,

Cho xxx

Harry sat disbelieving what he just read. He didn't like Cho in that way any more, she always had something wrong with her, and she was just too emotional. Plus the face of one particular brown-haired girl kept floating across his eyes. He shook his head, trying to get unwanted thoughts out of his mind, as he pulled on some robes and made his way out of the room. It was still dark in the corridors as he made his way up to the owlery. As he walked in he spotted the figure of Cho, leaning against the wall petting Hedwig. Harry walked over to her, she turned as he was about to say something, she flashed one of her brilliant smiles, but it just didn't appeal to Harry any more.

“Hi, Harry.” She said moving closer to him so there were only a couple of feet between them.

“Hi,” answered Harry, clearly not interested, but she had other ideas. She moved still closer so Harry could feel her breath on his face, see the glistening lip gloss on her lips and smell the perfume on her. Harry stepped back, causing her to give off a curious look. “Listen, I like you Cho, but not in that way. I would like to be friends, after last year I don't think I could handle you any more that much.” He watched as her face became rigid, her eyes glistened up.

“But…………but you c………came after you r……….read my letter, you c………came, why would you c……….come if you didn't li…………like me,” she sobbed through a face full of tears; Harry was starting to feel uncomfortable.

“I came to sort all this stuff out with you, nothing more.” he said moving back towards the door, casually saying bye and walking back down to the dormitory. Harry didn't know why he acted so casually around the girl he had had a crush on for almost three years, but he did. He passed by the portrait of the Fat Lady and continued down to the great Hall, as the sun was coming up. He didn't feel remotely tired any more but full of energy, he sat down happily at the Gryffindor table, being the only one in the hall. The enchanted ceiling showed a blue sky coming up between the rising sun's colors of reds, yellows and oranges. Harry sat for a while by himself, waiting for the other students to appear so he could eat, as the house elves didn't make food and send it through the floor until at least ten people were in the hall. He had been there about fifteen minutes when the plate in front of him filled with food. He curiously looked around the hall; there wasn't any body else in there just him self, but when he turned his head back down to his plate he got quite a surprise. Dobby was sitting on the table in front of him, smiling broadly.

“Hello, Harry Potter, sir. Dobby noticed you walk in, sir, and thought you might like some food before all the other people came in.” the large eared elf looked up at Harry with his large, green, tennis ball eyes.

“Hi, Dobby. Yes, thank you, I was kinda hungry,” Harry looked carefully at the creature, who was wearing an assortment of clothes. He had boxers on over a large pair of pants, a singlet over his bare chest, and Hermione's knitted hats perched upon his head, which equaled about seven. But on his feet were the most lurid and colorful socks he'd ever seen. On one foot he had a rainbow striped one, which, every time he moved, changed the pattern and colors of the stripes. But on his other foot, when Harry looked closely, was the most revolting picture he'd ever seen. It was him. It was a picture of Harry's head with many different expressions scattered about the sock. They were all different shades of different colors, with the back ground black, making the faces standing out more. Harry stared, open mouthed at Dobby's left sock, unable to utter a word. Dobby seemed to have noticed Harry's gaze, because soon he was looking at his own foot, then looked up, beaming at Harry.

“does sir like my socks? I knitted them my self, I did. I knitted a lot of things, sir. I got the idea of your girl friend, Harry Potter, Hermione; I think it is, sir. I hopes you like them, sir?” Dobby the house elf looked bleary eyed up at Harry, who had finally torn his eyes away from the elf's foot wear. He pushed the thoughts of tearing the sock of Dobby's foot and burning it, out of his mind.

“Yeah, Dobby, it's…………ahh, nice.” Harry turned down to his toast, not feeling remotely hungry any more. Dobby thanked Harry for his care, then, with a pop, disappeared back down to the kitchens, leaving Harry alone once again. When students began trailing in, Harry stepped out, heading to the Hospital Wing to see if Hagrid was alright. As he stepped in the door, he noticed the curtain was still drawn around Hagrid's bed, but voices could be heard coming from inside. Harry stepped closer, just as he was reaching up to pull the curtain aside, it was pulled from inside. He stood face to face with Albus Dumbledore, a smile upon his lips.

“Hello, Harry, we've been expecting you.” He stepped back, allowing Harry to get a better view of inside. Hagrid lay in his bed, smiling broadly through a face full of the usual black hair and beard, but his eyes had changed. Instead of the beady black, they now were a dull grayish-black. Scratched were still visible on his arms but no long lasting ones could be seen.

“Ello, `Arry,” he welcomed happily, “long time no see, ah!” Harry walked forward more, standing now right beside his large friend. He smiled forcefully.

“Hagrid, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have led you down there, you could've been killed!” Harry stated miserably. Hagrid's smile vanished, his face now filled with a look of confusion.

“`Arry, you didn't do anything. If you hadn't `ave told me, Grawpy might not have survived.” Harry looked down at his great friend for once; with the same old feelings of pride.

“Hagrid, I'm glad you're ok, I'll come back after lessons, I promise,” He smiled forcefully once more before leaving and heading to Transfiguration. When he was half-way there Ginny appeared around the corner, when she spotted him a pleased look came upon her face.

“Harry, I'm so glad I found you, I asked Luna and she said she'd love to. I told her I'd get back to her when I find out what's happening next, so, what's going to happen?” she blurted the words out so fast, Harry only caught them faintly.

“Err………well, tell her to meet us at the room of requirement tonight after dinner. Thanks, Ginny.” She said good bye and took off at a run towards the grounds, a broad smile on her face. Harry was early to the class, but went in any way, not wanting to stay outside in the corridor. About ten minutes later people started piling in, Hermione and Ron joined Harry. Today they were practicing on transfiguring the appearance of something to look like something else. They were working on photos, trying to make the people in them to look like someone else. All Harry managed to do was change his person's nose to make it look like Snape's hooked one. After Double Transfiguration and lunch they all had Charms then Defense Against the Dark Arts. Professor Flitwick was teaching them some spell to make large objects move by them selves to do what you want them to do.

“Okay, today class we will be working on a complicated charm called the Progressa Morpheus. It allows the caster the ability to charm objects to move, to act like they are living,” squeaked the small professor, “Now, watch my wand movement,” He flicked his wand and moved it into an arch then drew it down and pointed it at an invisible object in front of him, “Please pair up, or if you like you may go in threes, practice on these small muggle figurines that Professor Dumbledore gave me,” he swished his wand and small army soldier figurines appeared on everyone's desks,” Any questions?” Harry immediately put up his hand, which Hermione looked at curiously, “Yes, Mr. Potter?”

“Sir, would you use this spell if you wanted to enchant statues to move around?” Harry asked curiously, remembering the statues in the Ministry that Dumbledore had charmed.

“Yes, you would. But it would take a very powerful witch or wizard to cast it on many inanimate objects. Any more?” No one raised there hand, “Very well, you may begin.” He perched himself on the many cushions behind his desk, peering excitedly at his students. Harry reached forward and took a small army man and placed it in front of him. He stared at it a second, before getting ready to cast it. Mean while, Hermione had managed to make her figure's arm move around freely, while all Ron could do was make it fall over, like it wasn't balanced properly. Harry chuckled to himself and made a move to his.

“Progressa Morpheus!” He made the proper swishing and arcing movement with his wand and snapped it back down to his little man. At first nothing happened, it seemed to stay lifeless, but something happened that Harry never thought would. It moved. Its head began to twist from side to side as if it was cracking its neck. Its arms then moved and began brushing down its front, the legs went next, but it seemed to loose balance and tumble backwards, it stood again with shaking knees, it looked around then up at Harry. It raised one of its hands into a salute then stood in a ready position, ready for orders. Hermione was next to move her figure. No one seemed to have noticed that Harry had done it since it stood so stiffly. He watched Hermione's little medic man readjust his hat than peer around. He strolled hurriedly over to Ron's fallen figurine and look him over. He silently shook his head and walked away. Mean while Harry to his to check the perimeter for enemy soldiers; it saluted him again, before moving out. Hermione gasped as she spotted a small soldier tumble roll towards the edge, it peered down to the floor, and then made its way to Ron's now erect army man. He slowly protruded his arm out and pushed it, it rocked a few times before tumbling over again. He jumped when it did this, but soon recovered himself and continued his watch. He looked intently over at Neville's inanimate soldier, and then jumped to the table on his stomach. He took aim and fired. A small green dot shot out of his plastic gun and hit Neville's man, causing its leg to blow off. A shocked Neville gazed intently at Harry who sat smirking, and to Hermione who looked shocked as well. Professor Flitwick waddled over hurriedly smiling toothily at the two figures, Hermione's medic man and Harry's army soldier.

“Oh well done, well done. Twenty points to Gryffindor. Since the bell is due to ring, please would you all write a foot long essay on the amount of energy required to achieve the proper results if you wanted to charm a large skeleton of a dinosaur to tap dance, due next Monday.” As he finished the bell rang signaling the end of that class and start of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Harry, Ron and Hermione quickly packed up their things and hurried to their class, still talking about the Army men, which they were all allowed to keep and practice on if they wanted. Harry had taken his any way. After Defense against the Dark, where they just looked over and performed some of the older defense spells that they had learnt over the years, they went to dinner then back up to the common room. Harry ran up to his dormitory and grabbed the Animagus book, then they made their way to the room of requirement, reminding Harry that he needed to make a date for the next meeting of the DA. Luna Lovegood and Ginny were already there, Luna smiled dreamily at them. They greeted them casually, before they all turned to Harry, he took a deep breath.

“Well I thought that if we all pass the usual way and think about needing a place to become Animagi with everything there, everything should turn up. So should we give it a go?” they all nodded and began pacing up and down the corridor, thinking about needing a place to become Animagi with all the potion ingredients inside. Harry opened his eyes after the third passing a door appeared on the wall. He moved cautiously towards it, he pushed opened the door and entered. Many book shelves covered the walls, a huge cauldron sat in the middle. Shelves of assorted ingredients sat near the book shelves. Harry grinned happily at the thought of being able to transform into an animal. Hermione stood next to him her mouth hanging open, Ron was in the same state, an awed look upon his face. Luna stood facing the same direction, her expression not changed. Ginny stood the exact duplicate of Ron.

After they made sure the door was shut they wandered around exploring for a while until Harry pulled out the animagus book. They seated them selves in bean bags, and pulled out some of the many books. Harry read the things that they had to do. It said they had to, before drinking the potion, concentrate on what you wanted to do, leaving the animal out. They needed to do this until it actually happened to them. They would flash from their human form to animal, just briefly. When this happened it was then when it was ready to drink the potion, since it made the transformation complete and permanent. The potion, in Hermione's term, was the most dreadful she'd ever seen. It stated almost ten different herbs or plant forms, there were animal parts, like hairs, horns and clippings as well as the incantation you needed to say. But luckily everything they needed was in the room. But they also needed to do the proper stirring methods and proper order, because if you didn't and drank the potion, there could be deadly results.

They were all absorbed in their books, when a knock at the door broke them from concentration. Ron wearily got up and peered through. He seemed to know who it was and welcomed them in. It was Neville. He smiled nervously at them all and seated himself next to Ginny, taking a book of the shelf and looking through it. About half an hour later Harry decided it was time for the concentration part. They had to stand in a circle and speak an incantation, while concentrating on transforming from human to animal. It was a short incantation and soon they all knew it off by heart. They all stood in the circle, Harry between Ginny and Hermione. They closed their eyes and began concentrating while murmuring the proper words.

Incar memore animalia human

Transform the human

Into animal blood

Transform the animal

Back to human

Incar memore animalia human

They continued speaking these lines for a while, but nothing happened to them. They decided to meet every two days out side the room to practice. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Neville made their way back to Gryffindor common room while Luna left by her self to the Ravenclaw common room. Hermione and Ginny left Harry and Ron in the common room, since Neville had gone to bed. They just sat there talking about the animagus training, and wondering what their forms would be, when Harry remembered something.

“Hey, Ron, did you end up asking Hermione out?” he said casually glancing at Ron, whose face was slowly going red.

“Well, when I woke up I was heading down to breakfast to ask her, but I was remembering all the times we fought and we have nothing in common, nothing at all. It was just crush thing, and I'm over her now. I just want to be friends. Any way I have a suspicion that she like someone else,” He glanced at Harry smirking. Harry didn't know what he was getting at, so he stood and said good night. Later on when Ron had gone to bed and his snores could be heard, his eyes began to close, but the face of a bushy haired girl came to his mind. His eyes shot open as Ron's words and glance finally made sense. His heart missed a beat.
