Chapter Twenty- It Has Begun

People were screaming, shouting, crying, in the distance. The sounds of trees swaying in the wind and branches cracking under pressure entered his ears. He moaned with pain, his back aching from the fall. His shoulder stung badly and it was wet. He opened his eyes slowly, squinting in the sudden flush of the air. He was in the forest, having fallen from his broom in the blast from the snitch. He couldn't see his broomstick anywhere around him and thought it must have flown further. He struggled to sit up, moaning with pain at his injured shoulder. He took his hand away and noticed that the dampness was blood, his blood. His wand was a few feet away, unbroken luckily. He staggered towards it, raising it before him and repaired his glasses which had been hanging from his left ear.

There was a brown, fluffy thing sitting on a pile of leaves, its fluff having a few red specs of blood on its whiteness. There was a lot of the white wooly fluff surrounding him, and some still floating from the sky. Harry looked to the right and spotted a brown teddy bear's head, with a button for an eye. The Bear Hug. It must have been transfigured to the snitch so I would touch it! Thought Harry. He limped towards what he thought was the entrance to the grounds, having been blasted out of the pitch and into the forest. He reached the opening, the sunlight beaming through the thin trees. He went forward and leaned against a tree, catching his breath, and then looked out upon the grounds and to the pitch. He almost collapsed at what he saw.

The large Quidditch stands were in flames, the fiery streams escaping the mouths of two large green scaled dragons. Black cloaked figures were running around in every direction, firing spells every second. People were screaming in pain and terror, Harry caught glimpses of red and yellow robed forms, running towards the looming castle. He could hear the pleased laughs in the distance, echoing in his head as if they were in front of him. He clenched his fists and set out across the grounds. He transformed into his wolf form and slinked up the grassy slopes. He soon felt the heat of the flames and the roars of the fire-breathing beasts.

He growled angrily and leapt forward at an unsuspecting death eater, sinking his fangs into their throat. They barely had time to scream before they were down, and Harry had moved on. He spotted a white-masked person, cackling with laughter while torturing a first year boy. Harry leapt forward, releasing the boy from the Crucio Curse and dropping the man to the ground. He transformed back, much to the amazement of the sobbing boy. He grabbed the child and dragged him away. Yelling at him to run as fast as he could to the castle, remembering what he had learnt in the DA. The boy nodded and scrambled away, looking back to find the black wolf once more leaping after more death eaters.

He stood panting, in his human form, staring out at the group of Voldemort supporters before him. His wand in his hand, staring angrily at them. All their wands were pointed at Harry, many laughing with delight.

“Now remember,” one said, “The master wants Potter alive, but he didn't say we couldn't hurt him!” the man fired a red beam at Harry, who ducked and fired a stunner at him. The others joined in, firing countless numbers of spells at him. He clenched his teeth in pain as a Crucio hit him squarely in the chest. He doubled over in pain, panting and glaring at the figures above him, cackling madly. One stepped forward and removed their mask. Harry glared at him ruefully. It was Lucius Malfoy. His blond hair was sleeked back and a smirk was plastered on his pointed face.

He pointed his wand at Harry's chest. “We meet again, Potter. This time you don't have Dumbledore to save you, he's a bit preoccupied right now!” the others laughed joyfully. “Until the master comes for you, your mine!” he had a curse at the tip of his tongue before something white flew from the sky, a mere flash. Harry blinked, and Malfoy was gone. He looked up and spotted a large white dragon flying through the air, a black cloaked form grasped in its talons. Harry smiled, taking the opportunity while the others were staring upwards, nonplussed. He quickly stunned the four people and saluted silently to the dragon which was Draco, dropping his father somewhere over the Forbidden Forest.

He then set to work again. He spotted a death eater fighting with professor Lupin, the were-wolf's face set in concentration. Harry smiled, as he spotted three students he remembered from DA, back to back and firing an assortment of spells at advancing Death Eaters. He let his concentration waver for a few seconds, just watching the crowd of fighting, just long enough for someone to creep up behind him and his:

“Stupefy!” Harry flopped to the ground, leaving a smiling Blaise Zabini looming over him. “That's for my master, Potter!”

The full impact of his shoulder hit him painfully. He gasped and his breath caught in his throat. Something was digging into his arms, chest and legs. He opened his eyes, and realized he was tied to a wooden stake; a robe was binding his hands behind his back and his legs together. A thick robe was wound around his chest many times, running up to his shoulders and neck. He gazed out upon the scene and gasped, this time in terror. Many students lay on the grass, not moving and dead. Others had been tied up, only to be tortured continuously by happy death eaters.

Harry's scar was throbbing slightly, this mere ache was worrying Harry beyond belief. What if Voldemort came now? He clenched his eyes shut as another student went down by a death spell. He began grinding his teeth together, wishing everything would just go away. The roaring of the dragons was still ringing in his ears, each time getting louder. He had had enough. He hoped that Hermione and Ron were ok and somewhere safe and he wished that the ministry and Order of the Phoenix would turn up soon. He dared a glance out over the scene and met two, red, terrifying eyes.

“I wondered when you's notice me, Harry Potter!” said Voldemort pitilessly. Harry struggled against his binds, trying to get away but it was hopeless. H stopped struggling and stared straight into those haunting eyes, putting up his mind shield in his head. Voldemort stared into Harry's, smiling wickedly.

“Good,” he said, “I see you've learnt to be polite, after all these years. Now, you can do one of these things. You can tell me the prophecy and join me,”

“NEVER!” Harry yelled, feeling his shoulder burn.

“I thought you'd say that, the other possibilities are these. You can tell me the prophecy and die, you can just die and I can see what happens, or you can stay there and watch me torture your friends until you give in. Now, which will it be?” he said mockingly, smirking at the expression of horror on Harry's face.

“I'd rather die before letting you hurt my friends, and I'd rather die before I tell you the prophecy!” he said bravely, still staring into those blood red eyes. Voldemort sighed and stepped back, raising his wand before him. He clicked his fingers on his other hand and two black cloaked figures appeared from behind him, that Harry hadn't noticed before. And he realized, with a sickening sort of jolt, that they were dragging two tied and gagged forms. One with bushy-brown hair and the other with hair the color of fire. Ron and Hermione.

“No!” Harry yelled, struggling with all his might. “Don't you dare!” he screamed, fighting hopefully against the stake. He looked into Hermione's eyes, they were wide and open and full of fear, and silent tars were welling in them. Ron's face was pale and his eyes held an unimaginable fear. They were dragged up to either side of the monster Voldemort, who looked ecstatic at the sight of them. “Did you get them alright?” he hissed at them.

“The girl bit me really hard, master, but other than that, they were an easy catch!” answered one of the men. “You did well, Crabbe, Goyle, now stand guard over there and do not interrupt!” he said, turning back to Harry. He smiled mercilessly. “What will it be, Harry? Tell me the prophecy, die or watch your friends die, your choice!” Harry glanced terrified at his bound friends then at the monster before him. He drew himself up, so he was standing, putting more pressure upon his shoulder.

He stared into those eyes, deep anger erupting inside him. “Never! I will never join you, I will never tell you and I will never let you hurt my friends!” he hissed, not knowing he was speaking in parseltongue. Voldemort looked at him curiously, and then spoke back.

“Why do you answer in that language, I already know that you have inherited that talent off of me?” Harry smirked.

“It must be the fact, that in my eyes, you're nothing better than a great, slimy, snake, `Tom'” he hissed back, gaining a great huff of anger from Voldemort and another dose of the Crucius Curse. He faintly heard the gasp of Hermione over the grinding of his own teeth. The curse was lifted. Harry slumped back to the ground, grimacing with pain at his shoulder. “Don't, ever, ever speak that way with me again, Potter!” he hissed savagely, taking a step towards Hermione. He reached down and grasped her by her hair and yanked her up.

“She screamed through her binds. Harry began to struggle once more, saying over and over again, “NO!” But it was no use. Voldemort was smiling triumphantly; he stroked her cheek with one of his long, pale fingers. Tears began to trickle from her eyes. “Now, are you going to tell me, Potter?” He then aimed his wand at Hermione's chest and spoke one word.

“Crucio!” Harry stared helplessly as his girlfriend was tortured. Her screams rang through the grounds, and echoed in Harry's ears. “I'LL TELL YOU, JUST LET HER GO!” he yelled, he couldn't take any more of her screams. Hermione was panting through the gag, her eyes pleading. She shook her head quickly and painfully, signaling Harry to not tell him. A silent tear dripped down his face.

“I-I………” he stuttered, not wanting Voldemort to hurt his friends anymore. But he knew, once he told Voldemort of the prophecy he'd kill Harry, then everyone else he could get, including his friends. “The-the prophecy, says-“ but he didn't finish his sentence as there was another white flash as Draco swooped down and blew fire upon the monster, Voldemort. He streaked back into the sky, circling the scene. Harry smiled triumphantly, watching as the flames consumed Voldemort, but yelled out a warning to Draco as a green flash was shot from the ball of flame. Harry watched in fear as the Avada Kedavra hit the shiny white surface of the dragon, and watched as it shrieked and plummeted to the ground. Harry clenched his eyes shut as he heard the `thump' of its impact.

The fire ball was now being pushed out wards and the black form of voldemort could be seen in between the flickering flames. Suddenly the ball exploded sending the flame sin every direction. Voldemort stood where he was before Draco had attacked him, an angry glare in his eyes. He wiped off his robes, as if they were covered in dust and smiled slightly.

“Now, where was I before I was so rudely disrupted? Oh yes, the prophecy, tell me?” he said pleadingly, a hungry glint in his eyes overtaking the anger. Harry was overtaken by terror, what should he do?

“I don't think so, Tom.” Said a soft, calm voice to back of Voldemort. Harry sighed with relief as he spotted the long white hair and beard of Albus Dumbledore, and the two limp forms of Crabbe and Goyle to the side. Voldemort hissed savagely.

“DUMBLEDORE!” he spun around and sent a spell at the old man. Dumbledore blocked it with a swipe of his wand, advancing on him. “Alright there, Harry?” he said, placing his eyes on Harry's. Harry nodded weakly.

“So far, sir.” He managed to gasp, his shoulder throbbing madly now, to add to the pain coming from his scar. Dumbledore smiled. “That's good to hear, and are you two alright, Ron? Hermione?” he asked, and Harry noticed with a sigh that they had been released of the ropes and gags. They nodded, Hermione's face was tearing streaked and Ron was comforting her, handing her wand back to her. Voldemort was now seething.

He yelled and began firing spell after spell at Dumbledore who managed to block every one of them and sent a few back at him. They were dueling so furiously that it was hard to tell who was who. Ron and Hermione managed to make their way to him with out Voldemort seeing them. Harry was wrapped into a great hug by Hermione and a brotherly hug by Ron. They helped him get away, but they hadn't moved five paces when they were blasted to the ground. Harry yelled in pain as someone had placed a foot on his injured shoulder.

“Look who we have here, wee Potty, his mudblood and his pet weasel! What a surprise!” said a loud voice above him. He looked over to Ron and Hermione who were both being held down by another death eater. Harry recognized that voice. It was Bellatrix Lestrange.

“How'd you get out again, Lestrange?” Harry spat, his face pushed sideways into the grass. She cackled above him, her weight being pushed down harder. “That fool, Fudge put me back in Azkaban, and of course master came and got me again! With some friends this time!” and just as she said this Harry felt the frightening feeling of all his emotions being sucked out of him and replaced by cold. Dementors were enclosing in on them, very quickly. Harry struggled to get up, his shoulder really hurting him now, it was almost unexplainable the pain he was in.

Just when he thought all was lost, there was a loud whinnying from where Hermione and Ron had been tied, and Lestrange jumped off him, shocked and terrified. Hermione had transformed and was rearing on her back legs, kicking at the death eater's face that had been holding them. They fell to the ground with a kick to their head with the horse's hoof. But as soon as she began to rear upon Bellatrix, a stunner was fires, hitting Hermione straight on her chest. She stumbled to the ground, still as a horse. Harry turned around, anger building in his chest. Bellatrix pointed her wand at him and said happily, “CRUCIO!” the pain hit Harry's already sore shoulder. He finally yelled in pain from the curse, wishing he would just die.

Then it all stopped with a loud growl. He panted, his body aching with the aftermath of the curse. He struggled to sit up and spotted a large black wolf-like dog attacking Bellatrix. Harry ginned and quickly went to Ron and Hermione, helping Ron to his feet. He then performed the curse to regenerate Hermione. She transformed back into a person and was helped to a standing position by her friends.

“You both go and find help, I'm gonna go and see what's happening with voldemort. Go in your animal forms, hurry!” he said, transforming quickly and watching as Hermione, as a horse began to gallop away, a red orangutan riding on her back. He then bounded passed the black dog which was Sirius, who was now latching teeth into his cousin's neck. Her once beautiful face was now bloody and newly cut. Her old scars were still visible, from Grawp.

Harry was shocked to see so many bodies littering the ground, and sickened to see so many Hogwarts students among them. He potted the dueling wizards and crept forward. They both looked tired and Voldemort looked remarkably more frightened then he did before. He was just watching silently, planning to go any minute now and go help the other student's when he saw it. There was a large green blur slowly growing bigger in the distance, and he suddenly realized that it was a dragon. But he was too late to warn his headmaster. The dragon swooped and grabbed the old man in its jaws. It flew straight up into the air, swallowing the wizard in its mouth. Harry couldn't believe it, Dumbledore was gone.

He leapt forward, growling and howling. He caught Voldemort unawares, since the sorcerer was till watching the dragon with a look of triumph in his eyes. He yelled with pain as Harry sank his teeth into his arm. He screamed and raised his wand but Harry was already in his human form and firing spells. His first spell hit the wizard, but it was only a disarming one. His wand flew into the air but then flew straight back into Voldemort's fingers. Harry didn't have time to question this action, as he was now blocking an assortment of spells. He dived to the ground as a killing curse was fired, barely missing his head. He jumped back up, anger flowing through his wand.

Voldemort's face was twisted in confusion as Harry was fighting back, his own eyes flashing with anger and hate. He yelled with anguish as Harry's stunner barely missed his arm. The other death eaters that had been patrolling the grounds, killing and torturing the other students were now watching with fear at that Potter `kid' who their master had wanted to kill for so long. They watched as Harry was fighting back and was actually surviving. The teachers were now firing stunners at the nonplussed death eaters, scoring many victories. The order was fighting with them, and winning. Many death eaters were fleeing into the forest out numbered by the aurors, who had appeared, and the order members and teachers.

Voldemort's army was loosing and he sensed it. But, suddenly, a reducto spell he had shot hit Harry with full impact having lost his concentration for a second. He was blasted back a few meters, landing painfully on his side, hitting his shoulder once more. He gasped in pain, watching fearfully as Voldemort approached, holding Harry's wand in one of his hands and his own in another. He smiled victoriously.

“I always win, potter!” he said, pointing his wand at Harry's chest. “AVADA KEDAVRA!” he yelled, but before the spell could leave the wand tip, something black and small pelted straight at Voldemort's hand, snapping his wand in two. There was a hiss of green smoke billowing from the in half wand. He yelled in anger, and watched as a small black dragon circled above him then flew down to Harry, resting on his chest. It looked at him with pure hate then opened its mouth and screeched. Voldemort covered his ears, then pointed Harry's wand at him. “As I was saying!” he hissed, before many colored blurs were shooting from the sky, attacking Voldemort.

The Dark lord covered his head, being attacked by the dwarf dragons repeatedly. Blood seeped form cuts on his pale, snake-like face, and from his spider-like hands. He hissed savagely, dropping Harry's wand as a dragon bit him forcefully. “YOU'LL PAY, POTTER!” he screamed. “UNTIL NEXT TIME!” he then disappeared with one whip of his black cloak. Leaving Harry upon the ground, panting, with Bolt sitting on his lap and many other dragons landing around him.

A/N- How was that battle seen? Hope it wasn't too rushed, I know I could have stretched it a bit further, but, I was too excited to write this chapter. Next chapter is: The Aftermath!
