Chapter Five- Return to the Reverience

Dumbledore was explaining about the Dark War that Voldemort was planning. Their Secret Informer (aka Severus Snape) had told of the assembly of dark creatures that Voldemort had been gathering. So far it consisted of the usual Death Eaters, a small clan of Giants, Vampires, Werewolves, Dementors and Banshees, which Dumbledore had suspicions came from a small forest in the outskirts of Ireland which the Ministry had been inspecting over the last year. The Head of the Order had came to a decision that as soon as Voldemort had built up his many ranks for his army, that he wouldn't wait to strike but would begin at the Ministry and gain control there. The order members that also worked in the Ministry had orders to keep an eye out for any Death Eaters that they knew of, making more stops than usual to the Ministry of Magic.

So far all Harry and the others had to do was listen and be quiet. When Dumbledore mentioned that the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was a member and was going to keep things under control at Hogwarts, Harry blurted, “But what about Professor Lupin?” Dumbledore's soft blue gaze landed on him.

“He has other things to do this year, Harry.” Harry wanted to know what these things were and who the DADA teacher was going to be but shut his mouth when he felt Hermione's foot stamp on his own. Ron was struggling to absorb all the information they were getting. Hermione was sitting on the edge of her seat, her chocolate eyes shining with anticipation. Draco was still sitting stiff-backed, his eyes staring at the table; but Harry knew he was listening to every word someone spoke around the table. Harry was listening intently also, but was gazing around at the different members. He smiled. He was glad that Dumbledore was able to find so many well respected citizens who were ready and willing to risk their lives to stop Voldemort.

“Harry!” hissed Hermione in his ear. He looked back to Dumbledore. The headmasters blue eyes were on him, as were everyone else's. He gulped.

“I was just saying Harry that your task for this year is to continue your DA club from your fifth year and recruit as many new members as possible and alert them that Voldemort has truly returned. Please choose members wisely. Teach them spells, Jinxes, hexes, anything that you can think of that you have used when battling. This will not be a secret organization but a School Club. I will supervise with the choosing, but I will let you do what you wish. Do you understand?” Harry thought through this. It sounded like a good idea.

“Yes, sir!” he answered, gaining a small smile and nod. “I'm glad I can trust you. Miss Granger?” Hermione whipped around quickly, staring at the headmaster excitedly.

“Your task will be to help Harry. Look though the school books once more, and pick any spells you think would be useful in Harry's club. Anything at all you find that may, let us say, help Harry with his little problem, would be much appreciated.” Hermione nodded quickly, understanding the secret message. Harry knew Dumbledore was referring to Voldemort as his `little problem'. Harry didn't really think Voldemort was a `little problem', but found it humorous none the less.

“Mr. Weasley?” Ron snapped up from his stupor. “You will gather information from your brothers,” he indicated to Fred and George, “about any, erm, objects that might come in handy. You may change them in any way to suit your needs. They will be used if an attack may come to Hogwarts. Understand?” Ron nodded slowly, his brain racking through his thoughts. “Mr. Malfoy?” Draco raised his head, his eyes falling on Dumbledore.

“You will be in charge of the Slytherins. Do not get totally involved with them, but try to find out information about anything. Many of their families are involved with Death Eaters. Please take note of the new ones you find out and report them to either myself, the new Defense Teacher, or Professor Snape. Please try to be inconspicuous in your findings. I don not wish for you to be harmed.” Draco nodded, turning his eyes to the table once more. So Draco was a spy to the Slytherins.

The meeting dragged on a while later with various members standing and reporting what they had found out. It finally ended around eleven. Harry and the others were the first to ascend the stone staircase that night, their minds raking through all the information they had heard. Many members congratulated them on joining. Some merely nodded to Harry and passed through the security door. That night Harry's mind was swimming with information. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't clear his mind. Things like: I wonder what Lupin is doing this year so that he can't teach us? Or I wonder who the new DADA teacher is? Finally he drifted into a restless sleep, pieces of talking kept erupting into his mind, things that seemed to be important to Harry's mind but not his brain.

He was in a forest. Trees surrounded him, swaying in a cool breeze. He had been here before. This place was called The Reverience, the Forest of Dreams. There was silence all around him, no sound, just the cool air blowing on his face and the hooting of a distant owl.

“Welcome, once more, Daroth,” spoke a soft, soothing voice. Harry knew it immediately of the voice of Amity, her second form of the White Wolf.

“Hello, Amity,” Harry heard his own voice speak, floating through the air all around him, echoing in the silence. The gliding form of Amity stepped into his view, as striking as always. Her sweeping white hair flew around her shoulders in a soft breeze, her eyes penetrating into his own, her lips red as rubies.

“I knew you would come again, young one. You have faced the dark one once more between the space where I last seen you. I see it in your eyes. They have changed since your gaze fell on this forest. Strength resides in your heart, much more powerful than before. You have determination in your blood; it runs through your body, powering you to free your world. I understand what it is like to be held captive, to live in fear. But in this world, all are free. Your spirit is now in this place, so you are free.

“When I last saw you, I knew you were too young to bare the world on your shoulders. And you were too young to understand about the horror in your world. But you are older, wiser, and more powerful. So, the next time we meet, I will tell you what has to be done. I will tell you, train you for what is to come. Fare the well, Daroth, brother of Harry. Fare the well.”

The world dissolved once more. White specs flew across the trees, it was spinning. Harry just had the time to spot a white wolf, silently gazing upon him through the light. Harry opened his eyes, blinking past the sleep and yawning. It was almost morning. The sun was just beginning to peep over the horizon sending a soft, evanescent light over the rooftops of London. He could hear the soft ticking of a grandfather clock somewhere in the hallway and the snores of Ron in the room down from his own. A dog was barking outside in the street. Harry climbed over to the window and looked down into the alleyway. He laughed as he spotted a large, bear-like black dog cornering the postman against a trash can and a moldy wall. Letters and papers were strewn all over the pavement and there was a solitary shoe in the gutter of the street.

A few moments later, when Harry had dressed, he walked down onto the first landing to find Sirius roaring with laughter, holding up a paper and leaning on Remus for support. Lupin was smiling looking a bit ruffled with small bits of paper littered on his front.

“Mor-morning, Harry!” said Sirius, wiping tears of mirth from his eyes. Lupin smiled and patted him on the shoulder, finally seeing the paper on his shirt. He swiped them off and said, quite clearly and amusedly, though trying to keep a straight face.

“Sirius thought it funny to attack the muggle postman, posing to be a rabid stray dog and corning him in the alley. I went out to stop him and ended up covered in torn bits of the posties letters.” Sirius laughed again, dragging Lupin down to the kitchen by the arm. Mrs Weasley wasn't there this morning, but had left a short note.

Dear Kids

I've just nipped off to the Burrow for a while to grab a few things that we might need. I'll be back soon, please keep out of mischief!

Lots of Love

Molly

Harry sniffed the air and smelt the familiar scent of frying bacon. He rubbed his hands together and grinned just as his stomach rumbled. He was starving. When Harry had finished his scrumptious breakfast, it turned out that Sirius wasn't a bad cook, Ginny appeared in the kitchen, looking ruffled and tired. She eyed the plate of bacon, eggs and toast on the table with a sleep filled, wary eye, before shrugging and sinking into a seat, loading up a plate.

“Morning, Gin!” Harry said, gulping down some orange juice. Ginny looked up with a brown eye.

“Go-good morning, H-Harry!” she yawned, nibbling at a bit of toast. Tonks came down next, her hair a replica of Harry's, although hers had been intentionally put like it to look scruffy but Harry's was still messier. She smiled groggily at them before pouring herself a large cup of black coffee and sipping it happily with Lupin. Hermione gave Harry a good morning kiss the moment she walked in the door, getting a snicker from Sirius and a smile from Lupin.

“Ahh, young love, is there anything more romantic!” said Sirius, fluttering his eyelashes, clasping his hands together and looking up at the ceiling at an angle. Everyone laughed, including a very disgruntled Ron, who had no idea what they were laughing about. His hair stuck up at the front and there was a palm sized card stuck to his cheek, he seemed not to notice. When everyone cracked up laughing looking at him, he finally looked down to his cheek and growled.

“Stupid Ginny and her stupid tarot cards!” he said grumpily, flinging the card onto the table. He didn't seem to see Ginny seated next to him, looking as if he had just slapped her.

“Ah um!” she said, clearly stating that she didn't think they were stupid. Ron looked over to his sister and said, “morning Gin, why don't you ask mum for some cough syrup, sounds as if your getting a cold.” He had no idea what he had just said. Harry grinned stupidly, picking up the card and gazing at the picture on it. His stomach fell when he recognized the black background and floating white skull all too clearly. It was the sign of death. This didn't strike him as too odd, as he always had the presence of death hanging over him. Draco came down last, but he was more awake then even Sirius. He smiled broadly at them all and even patted Ron on the back.

“Good Morning all!” he said, helping himself to some toast and eggs. Ron glared at him.

“What's up with the morning sunshine?” Ron growled, “And don't touch me!” he added, swiping off an imaginary bit of grime from his shoulder. Draco beamed, taking nothing to heart, but he added in an attempt at trying to be less civil but failing.

“What crawled in your mouth and died?” he said, grinning once more. Everyone glanced at one another and shrugged it away. Draco was always in different moods when he awoke in the morning. This was one of his good days. The morning before hand, he had almost jinxed Harry when he said good morning, shouting, “IT'S NOT A GOOD MORNING!” Harry flipped open the Daily Prophet lying before him on the table, and immediately knew why Draco was so happy.

`Raid on Malfoy Manor!' Read the heading above a subheading called, `The last descendant of the Malfoy's to receive Possessions!' A small article was written below it.

`The ministry, late yesterday afternoon, raided the Manor of Lucius Malfoy, who, in the siege last year on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, died as a Death Eater. His widow was released from custody yesterday saying that she knew nothing of the Dark Art material beneath their living room floor. Their Gringotts accounts and family possessions are being passed on to the Malfoy's only son, Draco, who is now staying at an unknown location.'

Harry looked up at the now humming Draco, smiling slightly. Good for him, Harry thought, passing the paper to Hermione who had been reading it over his shoulder. She raised an eyebrow but said nothing folding the paper and placing it on the wooden table. Ron was just finishing the last bits of his eggs when Fred and George entered the room, both looking slightly put out by something. They sat at the table and scooped a few bits of toast into their hands.

“Morning,” said Fred to everyone. His voice was slightly bored and frustrated.

“What's up with you two?” Ginny asked, patting Crookshanks casually. The cat had jumped onto her lap as Shadow entered the room, silently sitting in a corner. The two had not stopped fighting, but where allowed out in the morning if they didn't start anything. Crookshanks glared at the shadowed cat, but began to purr softly as Ginny scratched his ears. George sighed.

“We can't get our Perfect-ahh-?” he glanced at Fred who was coughing loudly into a hand. “Perfect Parties, to, umm, work!” he finished.

“Yeah, they always explode when we add this ingredient. We don't know what's wrong!” Fred grumbled. Harry quirked an eyebrow this time.

“What do they do?” he asked, glancing at the two twins. They both looked at their watches and stood briskly.

“Well, we gotta go, business is blooming. We'll catch up with you youngsters later!” he said, as they both disappeared up the stone stairs. The others just shrugged. Fred and George were almost as bad as Malfoy. It was useless getting a straight answer from them in the mornings.

Later that night, when the house was silent except for the occasional quill scribbling across some parchment or the flip of a page being turned in a book, there was a soft knock on the highly bolted front door. Harry and the others were in the Library, finishing homework or reading when the door opened and Professor Dumbledore strolled in, carrying five thick envelopes. Ginny practically flew to her letter, it containing her OWL results as well as the usual Hogwarts admission information. The others took theirs slowly and more unexcitedly. They weren't expecting anything important. Ginny squealed and told them hurriedly that she had got ten OWLs before scurrying from the room to tell her mother. The second disruption was from Hermione screaming. They all looked up at her amazedly. She was jumping up and down holding something in her hand and staring at it, with tears on her face. Harry went to see what was wrong and found him self being smothered to death by Hermione's lips and hands. She thrust something into his hand. Harry looked down and grinned happily. There, shining in his hand was a silver, red and gold badge, with the letters, HG upon them. Hermione had been made head girl.

She hugged everyone in the room, including the smiling Albus Dumbledore. She was thanking him profusely when Harry heard Draco sigh as well as a slightly, relieving moan from Ron.

“Well, I'm not Head Boy!” said Draco, collapsing into an armchair, looking a bit disgruntled.

Harry smirked, finally getting to open his own letter. Hermione was still talking extremely fast and jumping around the room. She finally said she was going to owl her parents. When she left the room Harry dropped his envelope in surprise at what he had just spied inside. That couldn't be right! He thought nervously.

“Ron, can you look what's in that for me!” Harry said, pointing to his envelope on the floor. Ron looked a bit surprised but did as he was asked. Ron's face exploded with humor as he pulled out the sheets of parchment and a silver badge, containing the letters HB upon them. Ron was laughing hysterically when Hermione re-entered. When she looked at the shining badge in Ron's hand her face fell slightly, but she bounced over to Ron, squealing.

“Congratulations Ron!” she said loudly hugging him. Draco was staring at Harry, a look of humor on his face.

“It's not Weasley's badge.” He said plainly still staring at Harry, his grey gaze never shifting. Hermione looked startled at first then pulled away from the now giggling Ron.

“You thought I'd gotten-gotten this!” He said incredulously. He broke out in another fit of laughter, throwing Harry's badge and envelope back to its owner. Hermione whipped around to the confused Harry. She squealed again, louder this time and jumped onto Harry, kissing him and hugging his waist tightly.

“I knew you'd get it Harry! Oh this is so great! Imagine all the time we'll be spending together and the rooms we have access to. This is going to be so fun!” she squealed, kissing him again. Harry shook his head in disbelief.

“But I wasn't prefect, how can I be Head Boy?” Harry asked, turning to his headmaster who was now grinning widely.

“Oh, you don't need to be Prefect to become Head Boy! Haven't you ever wondered why your father got it if he hadn't been prefect?” he said, blue eyes twinkling proudly, before sweeping from the room. It took a few moments for this information to sink in. He was Head Boy! The door burst open and Sirius ran in, his face flushed with excitement. He looked intently at the badge clasped in Harry's hand and gave out a bark of laughter.

“Dumbledore just told us you were made Head Boy! HA! I knew you were just like James!” he said as Lupin and Mrs. Weasley walked into the room. Congratulations were passed around, Harry and Hermione being almost smothered by Mrs. Weasley's motherly hug. The nightly celebrations didn't end till late, a banner having been hung form the ceiling in the kitchen, stating: Congratulations Harry and Hermione, Head Boy and Girl! Even Draco joined in, saying he'd rather not be a goody-goody like Harry.

“Hey Hermione!” said Ron loudly. “Your initials are like HG as well, just like Head Girl! It's like you were, like destined to be Head Girl!” Ron had been given a spiked Butterbeer by Fred and George who were laughing hysterically in a corner as Ron continued his slurped speech pattern and `like'-filled sentences. As he watched the celebrating and crazed happiness from the others, Harry couldn't help thinking.

“I wonder if dad would be proud?”

Author's Note- I was gonna make Harry decline Head Boymanship but thought better of it. You'll see what I mean later on, I've thought something else to go with my plot! Thanks!
