Chapter 12
A week had gone by since the night Draco had approached her like that. That was also the last time he had spoken to her.
She and Blaise had spent time together. Mostly they were in the library, but sometimes he made side comments that told Ginny he really would rather be in his room with her.
She never took his hints, always thinking of what Draco had said, and Blaise never acted like it bothered him, even though it did.
She noticed that Draco came into the library often when they were. He was always carrying a maroon book and sat in an armchair across the library. She noticed he talked to himself, or he read aloud to himself, she really couldn’t tell.
She sat with the girls at meal times, and she was growing attached to Sara, but noticed Pansy didn’t like her that much. She tried not to let it bother her.
Pansy tried to get her to do many things for her, and she started to oblige. She thought it would help Pansy like her. Sara told her that she couldn’t be Pansy’s bitch, because that is what would ruin her chances.
Ron continued to watch his sister. She seemed to be straightening out. He didn’t catch her going anywhere private with Blaise, and that he was proud of. He also noticed Malfoy was staying away from her too. That made his job of protecting his little sister a whole lot easier.
Harry and Hermione had given up on trying convincing Ron to stop worrying about her. They would go down to Hagrid’s when Ron was busy following Ginny around in Harry’s Invisibility Cloak. Harry had let him use it on the condition that Ron didn’t eavesdrop on her conversations.
Ginny’s nights were filled with dreams of Draco. She couldn’t understand why, especially since she spent so much time with Blaise and she was really beginning to get attached to him.
~*~ October 8th
Blaise rushed into Draco's room before breakfast. Draco casually watched as Blaise tried to catch his breath.
When Blaise finally did so he asked Draco in a worried tone, “Draco, did I leave that book here?”
Draco turned to his desk and began putting things in his bag. “What book,” he asked nonchalantly.
“That maroon book. I think I left it here.”
“Oh yeah. It’s on my nightstand.”
Blaise practically ran to it all the while saying, “Thanks, I gotta go to breakfast,” and running back out the door.
Draco grinned to himself. He was sure the book would take his side.
~*~*~*~*
Blaise ran to the Great Hall before Ginny even got there. Blaise gave a sigh of relief. He didn’t want to see her until he had talked to the book. The book had to know what to say to Ginny exactly, it was essential.
Draco took his time, and just ten minutes later he sauntered into the Great Hall and took the seat beside Blaise as Pansy sat in front of him. The book lay on the table.
Draco glanced at it and said casually to Blaise, “So, what exactly do you plan to do with the book?”
“Well, I’m going to have it to convince Ginny that she wants to sleep with me.”
“She’s not going to listen to a book.”
“You never know, she might.”
“Don’t give it to her,” Draco said trying not to sound hysterical. If the book tells Ginny what Blaise told it, then it might tell her what he told it too. He didn’t want Ginny knowing his true feelings, not that he had any. He just thought about her a lot that’s all. He didn’t want her to sleep with Blaise because her heart would be broken and he wouldn’t care.
No, that can’t be the reason. The real reason is you don’t want to lose the bet. You never lose.
“Draco, I’m going to give it to her. If I want that ten galleons, then I’ll need a little help. I’m getting so frustrated with her. She never takes my hints to go down to my room. How can I get her to do anything if she won’t be alone with me?”
“I told you Blaise, she won’t do it.”
“Well, she might,” then Blaise stood up and left the table heading for his first class.
Draco followed him soon after.
~*~*~*~*~
Pansy had sat there and eavesdropped on the whole conversation. She was inwardly smiling. Blaise had forgotten the book, again.
~*~*~*~*~
Ginny was running extremely late that morning. She couldn’t find her wand, and then Peeves just had to change the hot water to absolutely freezing while she was in the shower. She wasted at least fifteen minutes chasing him before she finally gave up and searched for her wand.
She came rushing down the stairs in the Entrance Hall, not looking as well as she had in the past. She jerked open the doors to the Great Hall, and ran to her seat beside Sara and in front of Pansy, who came back from the Slytherin table.
All the girls watched her catch her breath, trying to hold in their laughter.
Once Ginny had caught her breath, she told them the story of why she was late. This resulted in them laughing at her out loud.
Today is not going to be a good day.
Pansy left early with her bag saying she had something she had to owl.
~*~*~*~*~
Pansy was giggling hysterically all the way to the Owlery. Her plan was so perfect. Ginny would never get into the group. She hated Ginny, Especially since all the guys wanted her and not Pansy anymore. Pansy was filled with jealousy and wouldn’t let some stupid Gryffindor take her fame away.
When she reached the Owlery, she called a huge barn owl. She tied the book to its leg.
“Take this to the Gryffindor dorms for the girls. I’ll go outside and open the window so you can drop it on her bed.”
The owl hooted and flew off. Pansy ran from the Owlery as fast as she could so she could open that window.
She was out on the grounds and counting the windows before the owl came into sight. Pansy knew which window it was because last year she levitated some dungbombs in there.
Before she could open the window, she saw it open. Ginny reached out and took the book from the owl.
Damn, I hope that thing doesn’t do whatever it’s supposed to right now!
Pansy ran back into the castle before Ginny could see who she was.
~*~*~*~*~
Ginny had gone back up to her dorm to get her bag. She noticed the owl hovering outside the window and went over to get the parcel.
It was a book with a note that said: Listen carefully.
Ginny was curious about the book. She opened the pages and flipped through them. She realized that on every single page it read: Speak to me.
Ginny wasn’t exactly sure what that meant, but she said to the book, “My name is Ginny Weasley.”
The book chuckled and Ginny dropped it on her bed.
“So, you’re Draco’s Kitten.”
