AN: Thanks for the reviews. They really made my day. According to some of you I was moving a little fast. I think you were right. I tried to slow it down in this chapter. Probably in the next few chapters I will have more opportunity for dialogues and other things like that. Thanks again for the support and advice!
P.S. I didn’t really think about how much 300 galleons would be in dollars, but it was a lot more than I imagined. Thanks for the conversion pinksunryse!
Chapter 3
Ginny stood in the doorway and watched as slowly everyone looked up at her. She looked at the end of the Hufflepuff table. They were all looking at her. She took a deep breath and walked as sexy as she new how over to the group of girls.
They all stared at her for a minute then Sara said, “Take a seat.”
Ginny took the empty seat to Millicent’s left. Pansy was across from her and was peering at her.
“Let me guess, you want to join our group,” Pansy inquired knowingly.
Ginny nodded noticing every guy was still staring and all of the other girls were whispering.
“Well, you seemed to add up to our appearance requirements now. Tell me, where did you get the money Weasley?”
Ginny was slightly hurt by Pansy’s question, but tried not to show it. “My name is Ginny thank you, and I done some work over the summer.”
Pansy nodded and sat back.
“Well, Ginny, why do you want to be a part of us,” Millicent asked.
“Well, I . . . guess I just want to be proud of myself. I want people to like me. I don’t want to be a loner anymore. I want to be known as Ginny, someone worth looking at and talking to instead of just “a Weasley.”
Just then Sara tapped the table in front of Ginny. Ginny looked at her and she nodded in the direction behind Ginny and said, “That’s one of your brothers right?”
Ginny was almost scared to look, but she turned around anyway. Ron was red in the face. He was talking furiously to Harry and Hermione, and Hermione was trying to keep him quiet. Every now and then Ginny could catch glimpses of things like “Wait ‘til mum hears about this” and “What would Charlie think?”
Ginny turned back around. Pansy was staring at her. Ginny tried to stare back, but found that she ended up looking at the empty plate in front of her.
“Fine. We’ll think about it,” Pansy finally said. “But, you have to get him off your back,” she added gesturing toward Ron.
Ginny glanced at her brother once again. This is going to be hard.
She looked back at Pansy, “Alright.”
“And he is not to talk to us at all.”
“Fair enough.”
“And we will let you know at lunch.”
“Great. See you then.”
Ginny got up and watched as everyone looked at her again. She even heard a few whistles this time. When Ginny walked through the doors, she decided she better wait on Ron.
Before she could think anything else, Ron came bursting through the door.
“You. . . You. . . What are you . . .? Are those even clothes!?”
Ron was beside himself.
“Yes Ron, these are clothes. What is your problem?”
“My problem? My problem? You are becoming my problem Ginny!”
“Why am I becoming your problem all of the sudden?”
“Well, first you stop hanging around with anybody, like you were a zombie, not talking to anyone, not even doing your homework, and not taking care of yourself. Then, this morning you show up like a tramp and sit with that group of girls. That is how you are becoming my problem.”
Ginny’s eyes filled with tears. Ron had always been her favorite brother, well, after Charlie at least, and Ron had just called her a tramp.
“I’m not a tramp, Ron. And I’m not dressed like one either. I quit talking to everyone because I had no friends. I realized that if I want friends I have to try for them. So I’m finding friends.”
“By changing yourself? That makes no sense.”
“I want to be proud of myself Ron. I couldn’t be proud of who I was looking like I did. Don’t you want me to be happy Ron?”
Ron stood there, obviously caught off guard by her question.
“Of course I want you to be happy, but do you have to change yourself so drastically?”
“But this makes me happy, Ron. Don’t you see that?”
Ron just shook his head and walked off leaving Ginny felling worse than when he yelled at her.
