Harry Potter and the Prophecy of Two
8. The Training Begins
Harry Potter and the Prophecy of Two
Disclaimer- Hello Everyone! I don't own Harry Potter and never will, blah blah blah, the usual. Now sorry for the long wait but here comes the good news. I've finished all my assignments and surprised myself by fluking them all, and now I'm in my holidays which means more time to write more on both my stories. YAY! Right, back to business should Harry have only one Animagi form or more, and should his animal be magical or mortal, or both. And I also need some suggestions for Hermione and Ron's forms, coz I don't really want to copy from my other story, but if none prevails, I might just have to use what I've got, ok, to the story I go!
Chapter Eight- The Training Begins
After a very rushed breakfast the next morning, Harry, Ron and Hermione stood in the same hall as yesterday with their newly acquainted teachers. Dainin Strongfoot emerged from his fellow teachers and stood in front of the trio, smiling slightly but sternly.
`As you all know I am Dainin Strongfoot, your teacher for the rest of this year for Soul Magic. I am deeply concerned about your safety in this course as the art of wandless magic can be very draining to your powers and highly dangerous to underage and non-skilled people as your selves, but Albus has guaranteed me that I can have my strictest confidence in the three of you.' He spoke with a slight, but unrecognizable accent and a soft clear silky voice that echoed about the room. He stepped back into the line as Maizy Kirra skipped forward a large grin on her face.
`Hey guys, and gals. I won't bother introducing myself because you already know who I am and what I'm teaching,' Harry gasped as she spoke with out moving her lips. Hermione let out a sigh of acknowledgement beside him. `Wow, that's really strong Legiliumcy, hardly no one can tap into peoples minds and talk to them in their thoughts!' she breathed in inspirationally. `Clever girl,' this time she spoke with her own lips, smiling broadly at her. `Now, Albus has asked me to teach you lot to shield your minds from prying eyes. I know that one of you already has some experience in the matter but I'm willing to make you three's minds as strong as can be!' She stepped back into her spot, as the last member took a few steps forward. He had a high cheek boned face, bright blue penetrating eyes that glistened and darkened in the light and messy light brown hair, framing his handsome face.
`I am Armand Bytin and am going to teach you the skill of shape shifting, or commonly known as Animagi. If you are eligible to transform, you will be able to before school begins, if your skill comes unbound. Your forms will be unique to your nature, as mine is to mine. Some great wizards and witched have multiple forms and are known as Multimagi, this happens if they have many amazing characteristics. I doubt any of you will be a Multimagi, but I will be highly amazed if one of you is.' He gave a brief stone smile, stepping back into the line with his companions. `You will have one lesson now, which will go for two hours, the next will be at one o'clock and the last will be at five o'clock. That will be your timetable until school resumes, then we will arrange more suitable times.'
Two of their number left leaving Dainin Strongfoot as their morning teacher. He swished his hand shutting the doors behind the other teachers, Harry gulped. He swished his hand again, producing a pile of cushions on the floor before them. `Today I will teach you the techniques, as well as what and what not to do. If you master the skill this lesson you will practice on these cushions, using a levitation spell.' He signalled to the pillows, while seating him self in an armchair that just appeared behind him, “take a seat,” Harry turned to find three squishy armchairs behind them, he sat as did his friends. `The art of Soul Magic is an essence of your emotions, feelings and thoughts, mixed together in your soul and kept in you, ready for a moment to suffice. How ever not all who seek to find their magical essence succeed, some become so enthralled in their own minds that they never are the same again. Others have so many emotions and feelings, that their own Soul Magic destroys them. How ever if the proper training is used, the essence of magic in someone's soul can be released in safe flows and coursed to the exact cause.'
`Now, I have to see if you all can produce Soul Magic without a wand, please stand and place your wand hand forward. I will place my own hand on yours and if you have any magical essence ready to be released, I should be able to sense it, since it should be close to the surface.' The professor stood, as did his students. He moved first to Hermione, who squeaked with nerves as he approached. `Please stay calm and close your eyes. Try and blank your mind from any thoughts.' He reached out and clasped her hand with care, closing his own eyes. A moment later he opened his eyes, and with a mere nod and smile moved on to Ron, who began to tremble, `Relax, Ron.' He took Ron's hand and continued the same process, but took a little longer trying to find his magical essence. He opened his eyes and smiled, with a nod he came to Harry.
Harry gulped as he felt the teacher's hand on his own. He closed his eyes, and began to blank his mind, pushing all thoughts out of his head. It was a lot easier now than last year, having practiced over the summer. They stayed in that position for a while, Harry's mind still blank. He began to feel a warm tingling feeling in his hand, as he opened his eyes. The professor stood back, a curious but calm expression on his face.
`You have a lot of built up magic in you soul, I could sense it before even touching your skin. I feel Albus was right when he said I could have confidence in you.' He whispered the last sentence in his native accent, before sweeping his hand and making the arm chairs vanish. `Now to the actual Essencing or Soul producing. Stand before your cushion, wands away and concentrate on levitating the cushion. Imagine saying the spell, or if you like you can say it out loud, but remember to keep you eyes focused and magic bound. Begin.' He moved behind the cushions examining their faces. Harry took a deep breath as he glared at the soft pink cushion before him. He heard Hermione next to him; she took a breath, before saying the spell loud and clear.
`Wingardium Leviosa!' the cushion stayed motionless before her, not even the tassels swayed or flinched. She sighed in frustration.
`The key of triggering you Magical Essence is to find the one emotion or feeling that has the strongest effect on you, try and find it.' Harry concentrated on his pillow, searching through his mind for the one trigger to his feelings. He went through love; the love for his friends, his surrogate family, but that wasn't it. He went on to the happiness for having great friends, great people in his life, but still nothing happened. Then he went through the bad things, the guilt, the pain, the anger. Suddenly a great pull erupted from him at the thought of them things. The guilt of leading many people to their dooms, the pain of loosing his family and harming the people he loved, then came the anger the hate. He thought of all the people lost during the darkness. The people suffering for no cause. The people dying because of him. HIM, Lord Voldemort's pitiless mind, his cackling, mad laugh. The anger surged through Harry for all the people lost because of him, all the pain he had caused everyone, caused him. He glared at the cushion, pushing all the anger, the hate and guilt forth from his soul; he imagined the cushion as Voldemort.
Suddenly feathers and bits of material were floating around the room. Feathers rested on his head and stuck in his hair. His breaths came in shallow gulps, as he focused his energy back into his body.
`I think that, err………was a little too much magical essence.' Spoke Dainin emerging from under the cloud of feathers, smiling slightly, sweeping away the feathers with a flick of his hand. `Next time try to focus on the exact spell and not on trying to destroy the subject.' He chuckled slightly, moving off to help Ron. Harry was feeling slightly embarrassed now that another pillow was replaced in the other one's spot.
This time around he focused his powers on levitating the spell, and not letting his mind slip to Voldemort to the extent of the last time he tried. He said the spell under his breath pushing his emotions with it. And to his astonishment, his new deep blue and red cushion wobbled slightly before rising a foot off the ground. It remained there a little over a minute, before Harry, loosing concentration, let it drop to the ground.
`Ooh, very good Harry. But try not to let you focus slip.' For the rest of the lesson the trio kept trying to levitate the cushions using their magical Essence. Harry was the only one to levitate his pillow more than a foot and keep it their over two minutes. Hermione came close, but let her focus falter on a lone feather floating to the ground. Ron however was having some trouble. He was only able to make his cushion wobble slightly, before he got frustrated and reached for his wand.
By the end of the lesson they all were magically drained and short of breath. Their teacher wished them good day and reminded them of their next lesson in the same hall. They talked quietly through their lunch and on the way back to the hall for their next lesson. As they entered the room, they glanced around hopefully looking for their next teacher, but found no one. They stood there for a while, talking, when through the window, in a dark drown blur flew a magnificent bald eagle. It circled the room above them, before swooping to the ground and transforming into Armand, landing gracefully on the ground. Hermione awed to Harry's left, and with a quiet “blimey” from Ron, Armarnd spoke.
`The art of Shape shifting is one of a dangerous nature. I will be keeping my eye on all of you, inside and outside of this hall. Your Animagi form symbolizes your personality, your traits, like mine shows me. Today I will give each of you a piece of parchment. On it, I want you to write the best qualities of your two friends. By reading this we will try and guess what form they will be. Also, you may write what you think your best qualities are. Write what you feel in your heart. Please come and take a piece and do what I have asked. Hand them back in as soon as you have finished, then we will go through what you have written.” He reached into his back pocket and took out three bits of yellowy parchment and three quills. He gave them out to the three friends, telling them to find their own space.
Harry wandered to the corner of the hall and sat down with his back to the wall. He began with Hermione, writing her name and listing her most admirable traits. His quill scratched down that she was smart, wait, very smart, talented, brave, Harry gulped as he wrote beautiful, caring and a great best friend. He gazed across the hall at Hermione sitting in the opposite corner, to find her staring at him, quill in her mouth, deep in concentration. She smiled casually and went back to writing. Harry blushed for no real reason and moved on to Ron. He was lying in the middle of the hall; eyes clenched shut and quill poised on his forehead. Harry chuckled slightly, copying down his best friends good qualities. Good in the air, loyal, goofy and funny, tall and lanky, wait is that a good thing or a bad thing? Who cares? Brave, spirited and a great best friend.
Harry stretched fitfully as he stood, and made his way over to Armarnd who now was leaning against the wall. He handed him his sheet and waited while he looked it over. `You forgot to write stuff about you self.' He pointed out handing it back to Harry. He groaned as he thought of something good to write about himself. I have great friends was the only good thing that came to his mind, now he made up some for the bad in his head. I always have to be the hero, I lead my friends to danger, everyone around me gets hurt in some way and I have a cursed scar on my head. Harry passed it back to Armarnd who read it through and surveyed Harry for a few seconds before reaching out and taking Hermione's parchment. Ron was finished a few minutes later, looking totally disgruntled about some unknown thing.
`Great, finished already, now I will put a charm on the paper in front of me, which will write down all your names and the good qualities you wrote about your selves and what the others wrote about you.' He took his wand out of his front pocket and took a deep breath, `Copyier!' the parchment glowed faintly orange before writing started to appear, a minute later it returned to its original color, writing now sprawled across its cover. “Ok, it worked properly. First person is Miss Hermione, hmm…you've got some great characteristics, it says that you really smart and clever, caring, a great friend, brave, talented, hmm……got bushy hair, that's a strange one and even one that says you're beautiful. So, what animal falls under these characteristics any suggestions?' Hermione was getting over the fact of someone writing down that she was beautiful, her face still held a strong shade of pink though. They were all thinking of any animal that would suit Hermione, but none came to mind. `Alright, you continue thinking while I move on. Harry, whoa, you've got a lot of good traits here. It says you're a great flier, smart, brave, courageous, understanding, and a terrific friend, loyal, honorable, has a nice smile and just a plain great wizard. You've got two great friends mate, so what animal does he symbolize?' Hermione and Ron just stared at Harry, deep in their thoughts, Armarnd also joined in on the staring, making Harry feel even more uncomfortable.
`How about a dragon or a stag like his dad, or maybe even a magical creature, like a Hippogriff or Griffin? He's got too many things like he could be.' Hermione sighed in frustration once more, brushing away a strand of hair from her cheek. Harry just laughed softly, smirking one of his most famous smirks. Ron stayed silent looking quizzically at Harry still. `Ok, you can bide on that too, now onto Ron. It says you're a good flier, loyal, goofy, funny, tall and lanky, brave, spirited, a good best friend, a great chess player, and always sticks up for his friends. You've got a lot of good traits as well, so any suggestions?' Armarnd asked looking up from the parchment at Ron.
`Is there any animal that fits the description that is red or orange?' asked Armarnd humorously. Ron glared at him, finding nothing funny about it. Harry and Hermione laughed as Ron looked scathingly at them also. `So, no suggestions once again? We'll go through the exercises tomorrow, that lead up to the transformation and practice the spell. You are dismissed.' They all wandered out of the hall, talking joyfully of what the exercises would comprise of.
After dinner they went back to the hall for their last lesson of the day. When they entered their teacher was already there. She was standing in the centre of the room, smiling broadly. `Hey people, have a nice feed?' They all said hello and answered her question, gathering around her happily. `Great! So we will start by just practicing to clear your mind, trying to get all thoughts, emotions and feelings out of your head, do this with your eyes closed. I will try and get into your mind without you realizing. You have to try and push me out of your head, Harry, you will be able to do it easier that the others with your experience. You may begin now.' Harry closed his eyes, and began the same practices of the previous year. He emptied his mind of all thoughts, and put up a shield, hoping he'd do it better than what he did with Snape. Suddenly flashes of memories flashed through his mind. It was the Triwizard Tournament, the third task. He was staring across at Cedric's limp form. Now he was at the Ministry, witnessing Neville being tortured by the Crucius Curse. Then he saw Sirius. No. He thought. I'm not seeing that again. He pushed Maizy out of his head, opening his eyes into the smiling face of Professor Kirra. `Great kid!' The rest of the lesson was much like Harry's first experience, full of Maizy's prying eyes peeping into their minds.
That night they met up in the secret room once again to no longer study Animagi but to clean. A large cloud of dust stuck to Harry's glasses as he opened a cardboard box. Inside laid old pieces of parchment and on them, scrawled many assignments marked and stashed away. Harry shuffled through then, and finding nothing of importance, moved the entire box into the centre of the room, where all the rubbish was placed. Ron was going through all the trunks, pulling out everything inside and placing the important stuff back in, while throwing out the junk. Hermione was sorting through the books stacked in each corner, wiping the covers and stacking them in neat piles by order. Harry was stuck with the boxes, which covered almost all of one wall and along the others. So far he had found the plans for the House of Black, stating all the enchantments covering the perimeters; old photographs, ranging from the early ancestors of Sirius to Sirius him self and the Malfoy family; even remnants of a broomstick, the old letters on the handle, slightly peeling off read: The Flying Albatross IX.
It was well over two in the morning when Harry laid down his head to sleep. They had made great progress that night, almost completely cleaning the whole room. When he finally closed his eyes, sleep over came him as did the usual dream.
He was standing on the tower once more, wind whipping by his sides and eternal darkness lay ahead. The white woman appeared in the midst of the night, slowly drawing nearer. She once again rushed forwards and dissolved into white mist. When Harry turned back around to the front, her silky voice sounded in his ears. `Soon Ashir. Soon I will have you all to my self and you will never see your precious Saydi again.' The white woman appeared in front of him, laughing joyously, her blue eyes gleaming in the darkness. `I lost you once before, you were mislead, but now, yes now, I have the darkness on my side and not even the light can shine through!' She let off a high pitched scream and dissolved in a swirl of mist.
He awoke. Sweat was beaded on his forehead, and a searing pain on his chest made matters worse. He pulled back the covers off his body and stared at shock at his shoulder. In exactly the same spot where the Spear had punctured his skin was a sign burnt into his flesh. It was red and blistered like he had been branded. It was an unrecognisable letter in some foreign tongue; Harry had never seen it before, it read:

Harry was completely confused on why he was having these dreams and how they were physically leaving a mark. He was determined to find out who this white haired lady and Ashir was by telling Professor Dumbledore the moment he woke up in the morning. He made his way to the bathroom; he splashed some water on the born and touched it softly. It was still stinging like it had just been done. He dried it off and made his way back to his room, passing Ron's on the way. Peering inside he spotted his best friend flailing in his covers, mumbling incoherently. Harry sighed and made his way inside, waking his friend from slumber.
`Ron you were dreaming again, we'll talk to Dumbledore tomorrow.' His friend looked frightened about something but nodded none the less. Harry lay back down in his bed, not feeling like sleeping again. The next morning Harry slumped down to breakfast at an early time, not having slept at all after his night time wanderings. Ron came down soon after, looking pale and clammy. He gave Harry a small smile before sitting down, Harry returned it, not wanting to show how sick he felt. Lupin walked in looking concerned about something, but when Harry asked what it was he just shrugged it off.
`Moony, do you know when Professor Dumbledore will be coming back to Headquarters; we need to talk to him about something?' asked Harry, feeling his stomach squirm as his burn gave off a short sting. `No, I don't Harry. But he might be coming in tonight; I need to talk to him as well. About my assignment.' Lupin took on a frightened look again, staring into space before him. `Thanks Moony, we better go.' Harry signalled to Ron and they both left, meeting Hermione outside the hall door. She smiled slightly, before walking in with them. Dainin Strongfoot stood off to the side a bit, his back facing them. He turned around when he heard them enter and smiled brightly. `Alright, we'll continue with levitating today, but if you manage to levitate you cushion today, we'll move on to something harder. Ok, grab your cushion and begin!' After a half an hour they all had moved on to their next subject, which happened to be chairs. By the end of the lesson, Harry, Ron and Hermione had managed to levitate the chairs and keep them there for over two minutes. Which Dainin said was great progress.
They moved off to lunch, totally drained and starving. Hermione gulped down her pumpkin juice and began eating some sandwiches like she hadn't eaten in days. `Hermione, you can't be that hungry can you?' asked Ron, with his mouth half full of a sandwich. She swallowed the food in her mouth before answering. `Well I am, actually I never ate much last night or didn't eat this morning and after the training………oops' she forgot that Mrs. Weasley didn't know, and she just happened to be standing behind her. `Oh, don't mind me dears. Albus discussed it with me, and thought I was to be trusted, he also told Arthur, Remus, Tonks and Moody so we didn't worry where you lot went all the time.' Hermione let out her breath gladly, and continued with her half a sandwich.
Armarnd began to talk about half an hour later in the hall. `The training is a mixture between exercising your mind for the transformation, practising the incantation and getting ready the potion, which I have got one of my loyal accomplices to do for me, so that's out of the way. Now, to exercise your mind. Close your eyes and blank your mind, just like you would do for Occulumcey. Imagine a spotlight in the middle of the darkness. Put yourself in it. Imagine that you are transforming into your Animagus form. Then transform back into you human form. Keep doing that, even though you can't see what you are transforming into.' And so it began the first stages of becoming an animagus like his father. Harry did as he was told; he imagined the spotlight and put himself in it, though the transforming part wasn't coming along too good. He could see himself transforming into a blurred shape but then that would change again, then keep changing. Harry couldn't control it.
Later that lesson they began to learn the Incantation, which all three of them already knew. They didn't tell their teacher this, since they would have to explain about the book and so on and so forth. So they pretended to be quick learners, and memorised it all over again. They also went over the potion ingredients and method, which they were glad they didn't have to do. That night after dinner they went to their second lesson with Maizy Kirra, who they thought to be a really fun person to be with. This lesson they continued with their mind shields, which began to get slowly stronger. Harry Hermione and Ron that night were sitting by the fire in the living room when Dumbledore appeared, looking very grim about something. But when he spotted the trio, his expression lightened a bit.
`I have just been informed that you three are excelling in your training, which is very goo news. Also Remus has just told me you wanted to talk to me about something?' Harry glanced over at Ron, who tensed immediately. Harry took a deep breath. `Well……yes, I have something to tell you, but so does Ron. Ron?' Ron started to look nervous, but still didn't answer. `Do you want us to tell him?' with a quick pleading glance from Ron, Harry continued, `You see, sir. Last year at the Ministry, when Ron got attacked by the brain, we think it is giving him nightmares.' Dumbledore looked curiously at Ron, before sitting.
`I see, well I think I can do something about that. I will have to do some tests; you don't mind do you Ron?' Ron shook his head slowly, `Jolly good. And you wanted to tell me something, Harry?' Harry nodded slowly, thinking if he should tell him or not. `Yes, sir. Um…I have been having these nightmares.' said Harry, but Dumbledore cut in, `Voldemort?' Harry shook his head. He explained about the tower and the spear, how it stabbed him. He told him about the white woman, and then paused at the burn. Ron and Hermione looked shocked that he hadn't told him all of this. Harry took a deep breath.
`I had a nightmare last night and when I woke up, I had this,' Harry pulled down his shirt to his head. He heard Hermione gasp, and Dumbledore stood abruptly. His face looked grave as he stared at the symbol burnt on Harry's arm.
`Oh dear. It seems that Avlantia has risen again.'
A/N-Hehe………cliffy!
