A Trip Down Memory Lane
Ginny and Blaise sat themselves down on a seat in the Slytherin common room.
Blaise looked at Ginny with a worried frown. “Alright what's this about?”
Ginny proceeded to tell Blaise about what had happened on the date. She sneaked a look at Blaise's profile and saw the sad thoughtful look across his features.
“He wouldn't tell me what happened. Told me to mind my own business. But Zabini damnit I can't just pretend I didn't hear anything. What happened between those two?”
Blaise sighed. “I shouldn't really be telling you this Weasley. Draco would kill me if he knew but I guess in some ways you have a right to know. Pansy and Draco have been dating ever since their third year. They really loved each other but last year things happened that will probably scar them both for life.”
“What happened?” Ginny asked quietly.
Blaise closed his eyes. “It happened like this…”
Pansy looked up at Malfoy Manor and smiled as she saw Draco waiting for her. “Hey Draco, I hope you don't mind me coming to visit you?”
Draco shook his head, “It's fine.”
Pansy smiled, “Great. So how have your holidays been?”
“Alright I guess.” Draco replied half-heartedly.
“You seem sad. What's up?” Pansy asked squeezing his arm as they walked inside.
“It's nothing” Draco replied dismissively.
Pansy looked at him piercingly but said nothing.
They continued to walk through the corridors but were stopped by Lucius coming out of a door, “Draco I've been wanting to talk to you.”
Pansy thought she saw a flicker of fear in Draco's eyes.
“Yes father of course.” Draco said walking forward, “I'll catch up with you later. Just go hang out in my room or something.” Draco said to Pansy.
Pansy nodded and watched as Draco followed his father into the room. The door shut ominously and Pansy had the horrible feeling something terrible was going to happen.
She walked up to Draco's room and sat down on his bed, waiting for when he would come to tell her what had happened. She didn't understand why Draco would be scared of talking to his father but she figured whatever Lucius wanted to talk to Draco about it couldn't be good.
An hour later Draco came into the room and looked at Pansy. He looked helpless and seemed to be struggling to contain his emotions.
“What happened?” Pansy asked softly standing up.
Draco put his arms around her and held her close. “He wants me to become a Death Eater Pansy.” Draco whispered before burying his head into her hair.
Pansy sighed. It was what both of them had been dreading for the whole year. “But you aren't even of age yet.”
“Voldemort wants me to do a special mission.” Draco replied heavily.
“What?” Pansy asked frightened.
“He wants me to kill you and your parents for betraying him.” Draco replied softly.
Pansy looked at him with tears glistening in her eyes. “Why you?”
“Because he's a twisted old loon who delights in making people miserable.” Draco replied grimly.
“What did you say?” Pansy asked quietly.
“I told him to go to hell.” Draco replied pulling her close.
Pansy smiled and clung to him. They kissed passionately but quickly fell apart by a cold voice cutting through the air.
“So this is what you refused Voldemort's offer for?” Lucius said eyeing Pansy with disgust. “You're parents are filth and you are not fit to be in this house.”
“Shutup!” Draco yelled at his father.
Lucius looked at his son coldly. “Draco I will not allow you to do this to our family. This girl will be the death of you. No one survives betraying Voldemort. He is going to kill her and her parents as a warning to all Death Eaters.”
Pansy glared at Lucius but Draco pulled her behind him, “I won't do this. You can't make me father.”
“Don't you talk back to me,” Lucius cried angrily raising his wand. “Crucio.”
Draco fell to the ground writhing on the floor in agony.
“Stop it!” Pansy screamed.
Lucius looked at her coldly. “You've been a nuisance for too long girl.”
Pansy watched as Lucius raised his wand to her but he was knocked over by Draco casting a disarming spell.
“Pansy run.” Draco gasped as he struggled to get up.
Pansy shook her head and grabbed Draco by the arm. “I won't leave you here. Come with me Draco.”
“Accio Pansy” Lucius shouted.
Pansy soared towards Lucius and was instantly pulled into a death grip. “Now Draco,” Lucius hissed, “I'm going to make you watch your little girlfriend suffer. I will not tolerate such weakness in my house or by my son.”
Lucius aimed his wand at Pansy, “Crucio.”
Draco watched as Pansy shrieked out in pain. Her tears fell freely and she looked up at Draco pleadingly.
“Father no!” Draco shouted.
Lucius looked at him menacingly. “I am doing this to help you son.”
“You're crazy” Draco said disbelievingly as though seeing his father for the first time.
Lucius smiled and lifted the curse of Pansy. Draco watched as she sobbed on the ground at Lucius' feet.
“Join me Draco, or your fate will be like this trash on the floor.” Lucius said coldly eyeing Pansy.
Draco glared at his father. “Let her go.”
Pansy looked at Lucius fearfully. She knew as she looked into those pitiless gray eyes that she was going to die. He was going to kill her in front of Draco.
“I promised Voldemort if you could not do the job I would.” Lucius said coldly. He raised his wand at Pansy, “Avada-”
“Avada Kedavra” Draco said quickly pointing his wand at his father.
Lucius was too surprised to do anything. Draco and Pansy watched as he fell to the ground; the life dying out of his eyes.
“You killed him” Pansy said shocked.
Draco looked at her. His face was very pale and he dropped his wand and fell to the floor at his father's side. Tears were sliding down his face and he gently touched his father's cold cheek.
“Draco.” Pansy said softly.
Draco continued to stare at his father. Pansy stood up and put her arms around Draco holding him close to her. “It's ok Draco.” She said gently.
Draco buried his face in her shoulder tyring to block out the misery in his heart. Pansy looked at Lucius cold face and barely managed to repress a shudder. He was cruel and she hated him but she knew Draco had loved his father.
“Come on Draco. We can't just leave him here.” Pansy said quietly.
Draco stopped crying and looked at Pansy. He nodded and transfigured his father's body into a small bone. He had heard Barty Crouch Junior had done something like this to hide his father's body and figured he could use the same method.
Pansy and Draco walked out into the gardens and buried the bone in the rose garden. Pansy looked at Draco, “What are you going to tell your mother?”
Draco looked at her unemotionally, “Nothing. I'll pretend nothing has happened. She'll just assume he ran away…”
Ginny looked at Blaise horrified. “That must have been terrible.”
Blaise nodded. “It's taken Draco a long time to get over that. He's been much happier this year without Lucius ordering him around. He came and stayed with me the last summer holidays to get away from it all. His mother still doesn't know what happened. Only me and Pansy know the truth and now you do.”
“I can't believe it.” Ginny said quietly.
“Don't you dare tell him I told you” Blaise said dangerously.
Ginny shook her head, “I don't think I would dare mention anything.”
Blaise nodded satisfied. “You had best get some sleep Weasley.”
Ginny nodded and walked up to the dorms. Blaise looked at the dying fire for a minute and sighed before following Ginny to bed.
OOOOOOOOOOOO
Draco lay in Ginny's bed staring at the roof. His emotions were in turmoil over what he had heard on the date. Pansy wanted to break up with him and he didn't blame her. She was right when she said he couldn't be around her. It seemed every time he looked at her he relived the old memory. It tortured him and eventually he tried to avoid her or else barely talked to her; usually their encounters involved passionate kissing but nothing more. Draco had come to accept that he no longer loved Pansy.
“Perhaps this is all for the best.” He mumbled to himself.
Draco was still angry that Ginny had been the one to overhear the date. It would not do to let her know what happened. He didn't need any sympathy from the she-weasel.
Draco realised the absurdity in his situation. He was stuck in Ginny's body pretending to be a damn noble Gryffindor, which inevitably led that stupid weaslette to learn things about himself that he didn't want anyone to know.
“Curse this spell. I'll find a way to break it. I'll find that damn Granger and Blaise tomorrow and make them stay in the library till it kills them. I can't let this go any longer.”
A/N: I know there is no humour in this chapter but not all romantic comedies are always happy. So bare with me for now my lovely readers. As usual a review would be nice.
